@UsamaFTW I appreciate your work man, you're the only one out there who is giving us the chance to check BF3 MP in action. Thank You!! Please keep it up :)
@MrDubstepaholic Also, a little misunderstanding is what DICE said about modding tools. They did not say they will never release them, just that for now, they dont have such plans. They said though that they might come later in a DLC form.
@MrDubstepaholic EA confirmed that Destruction and other effects have been toned down to test the performance and stability of the alpha build. Remember that the Alpha exists to test how various assets of the game interact in a Multiplayer environment. It is not a tech demo.
@c3o5nnect: Cool cool! That's a minor detail that I was waiting for. From what I've seen it looks like they've made it as realistic as humanly possible. A few notable details are the legs swinging over a fence when the character jumps over, and when the gun jerks if the player is hit by an explosion it throws his balance and sight off. Very good looking game thus far.
People, this is alpha version...AN ALPHA version is the earliest version of the game that may be tested, its a phase in which there are only BASIC structures/feautres tested, like client & server handling, game engine, stabillity...all the fancy stuff is DISABLED and by disabled it means that its not even in the files you download. Testings of the destruction, balance and graphics are made in the BETA phase.
@63w204 You've heard wrong. I'm afraid. Firstly, destruction wont be reduced, and will in fact, be increased. Being able to drive a tank through a wall, cover it in bricks and then roll out and watch them roll off has already been screen-shotted by one of the Xbox magazines. The Alpha doesn't represent the end product, this was finished months ago. It isn't played the minute its finished. As such, there is plenty that has already been changed. Remember, testers played it thoroughly before this.
@gerry7man555 the destruction is limited in multiplayer so it wont affect routes, it mainly is only for buildings that let you go inside and have a tactical advantage.
I'm glad to see that the destruction is a bit balanced, so you can't camp, but you can at least look out of a window without getting a rocket to the face.
End of the day the destruction is just going to be a slightly better looking effect than what we already see. There will definitely be a limit as to how much you can actually destroy so for people to talk about this game like it's the messiah of gaming is a little premature. Maybe if that destruction actually posed a gameplay advantage I could think of it as something special but we've already seen destructible cover before. Maybe if rubble from falling buildings could hurt another player..
either way, everyone who buys this on any platform regardless will have a fun time with this master piece of a game, call of duty is done for and should have ended with cod 4 which was one hell of a good game
@PKrising24 yes but also they limited the amount you can destroy in multiplayer, so it mainly seems like they allow destruction on the buildings you can enter and have a tactical advantage.
@MrDubstepaholic Unfortunately I dont seem to be able to find the Thread at EA forums that explained which stuff have been toned down and which not. You are right, many building on this map are generic, especially the ones located in areas where the player cannot go, but the ones that are in the actual map will be partially destructible (even the ones that you cannot enter). Another reminder is that the Alpha is running on DX9. I am sure we will have a much clearer image when we get the Beta.
@Bighonkinwalrus You can dive to prone in BF3, it's just a more realistic slide than a dolphin dive. You can see him using it in one of his gameplay videos, it looks fun.
@amerps3produde Yeah. On the alpha, DICE tried to limit the destruction so only a couple of buildings could be destroyed. I forgot why they did that but it was for something like a preview of the destruction.
I knew I over hyped myself for the destruction, sure I understand the perimeter buildings of the map, but he couldn't even destroy that lion statue. Still gonna love the game though.
@UsamaFTW how many video's do you have? also thanks man, now i'm really stoked for this game. i mean if the alpha looks this good, imagine how the full game will be!
BF3's large-scale precision destruction is NOT YET CONFIGURED PROPERLY in the alpha build, leading to the odd rocket damage on those buildings! Don't be discouraged, and thumbs up so people know! And oh yeah, the pistol running animation looks way more natural pointing down toward the ground like in BC2 than it does up in your face here. Just an opinion.
Hi, thank you for the uploads, I have to ask you two questions: what is the weapon you are carrying as engineer most of the time in the video? Have you tried the "Vehicle disabled"? Have you a video with that thing? Thanks.
@IamYoddle because they don't have all the maps, skins, weapons, vehicles, and etc done yet, this is Alpha testing right here, not beta they are probably testing the core mechanics. the things they are most worried about for the game. they are probably going to change prone so when your reloading you can't move or move slower. 50 percent doesn't mean how long it going to take to get done, it just shows what has been done.
I'm getting bf3 and would rather know how to play properly. Just wondering, how do u snipe in this game if your constantly at risk of having the room around you collapse? Or is sniping not advisable in general?
@RssMMA I was thinking it sucked but I remembered it was just the alpha test..Do you know if the beta test will run the destruction capability at its max
THIS MAP IS GIANT. is this the PC version? will the multiplayer maps on the console versions be smaller (some parts cut off) and more compact? I am thinking of getting it on either ps3 or pc.
We were let down by MW2 for teamwork then Blackops, Then homefront, Then BFBC2, Now lets hope BF3 Comes with GREAT Teamwork and not everyone sniping and noobtubing.
@8LiGhTs8 well graphically it is almost identical to what the final release will look like. . .fantastic yet your right about the destruction changing probably.
Notice how the rubble from the "destructible" buildings disappears once it hits the ground. That's unacceptable. Oh, and don't go crying "IT'S JUST THE ALPHA THEY'LL FIX IT!" This game is two months away from release, I don't know what the hell Dice and EA are thinking releasing an "alpha" this close to release. The game should be done, and these last two months should be pure polishing.
@VenVile Also the reticule on the EOTech is visible by the player when they are not aiming down it, and that is the correct way to hold a pistol when you are not firing it, it's just visible so the player can see it. Also, this isn't a realistic game in the slightest, so I doubt any of these will be fixed.
wow, i am not surprised there are already complaints about the graphics, graphics are important but at the end of the day i stay for gameplay and longevity, i will be buying this on console,i enjoyed bad company 2 and battlefield 2 a few years back and slightly weaker dx9 graphics won't deter me because i alrready know it will be better than BC2 gameplay wise, i just don't wory about graphics
Ok I guess you could say I'm knew to battlefield. I only played the first Bad Company and didn't even play it online. I play a lot of COD I love it but Im getting this just to try something new. One thing I noticed in the video was the unlimited sprint. Is the class defaulted like that because if so that's not fun at all. In real life do you run forever and never get tired? Please tell me that is just a beta thing
@PioneerJones I thought about that too. Looks more like a Bad Company 3 rather then an all new pure Battlefield game. I think the hype around Battlefield 3 should be settled down a bit.
@nathrox2 Lots of people, I imagine. People noticed it about Bad Company 2, and that was one of the things they were supposedly changing with Destruction 3.0
Holy shit, everything about the rocekt launcher is sexy as fuck. the sound, the explosion... Also: some of the buildings werent destroyable because this is in alpha. they will obviously be destroyable in the final game
@ItsRMD Its how you get to a prone faster, they do this in the military, it's not called a dolphin dive. call of duty overexaggerated on the actually dive.
You have to tell me, which hardware do you use? Trying to get an idea of the system requirements even though the engine will probably be improved before release.
