I would be very worried if I were you, I mean that your intellectual capacity allows you to evaluate this channel as fair, that is really concerning at least it should be to you. This channel is openly and blindly biased towards Russia and against Ukraine and the entire West. But given the sentiment and subtext of your comment, you guys share some commonalities regarding certain grievances against the West. I think it is important to remain objective, unbiased and neutral. To leave emotions out as much as possible, while strengthening one's own sense of rationality, logic and morality. To finish it up, I'll give you just one example of this channel's openly biased position. Whenever he mentions Ukraine, he calls them either "The Ukraine" or directly as "The Borderland". Both are clearly a subtle way of denouncing and denying Ukraines national identity and sovereignty, as though it's just some land in the middle of nowhere with no distinct history, culture, nationality, statehood or language and therefore doesn't have any claim for sovereignty and self-governance, but at most to be a puppet of Russia or outright as part of Russian territory. There is nothing neutral, fair or objective about this, it's a clear attempt at denigrating Ukraine, while openly supporting Russia and its claims.
@Kenny-yl9pc
@Kenny-yl9pc 25 дней назад

Your military assessment is essentially correct but I would add that the 12K troops that the Ukrainians employed in the Kursk offensive impoverished their army in the Donbass of all real reserves in the face of the Russian offensives, giving the Russians not just the upper hand but an almost free hand in the Donbass and has opened the way for them there. BTW, this is essentially the exact same mistake that the German high command made on the exact same ground 81 years ago in the summer of 1943. By November of 1943 the Soviets were smashing through Kiev. As Shakespeare told us, What's past is prologue.

And yeah, overall you're pretty much correct.

A lot of commentators, the more enlightened ones like yourself, have made the comparison of this Ukrainian offensive into Kursk region as similiar (in some ways) to General Robert E Lee's invasion of the North in the Summer of 1863 during the American Civil War. Except, of course, that General Lee had vastly greater forces (75,000 to the Union's 90,000), was not facing constant drone and missile attacks depleting his forces every inch they moved forward, and had a small chance of bringing the North/Union to the negotiating table if he did win a big battle on Northern soil. Of course the Union won the Battle of Gettysburg and that became the turning point for the Union in the American Civil War. Judging from the Russian military's response (basically as you so accurately stated, "lack of concern"), I would add that there was an even more accurate analogy regarding the Ukrainian Kursk offensive from the American Civil War, and that would be the Confederate offensive into Tennessee in the Fall and Winter of 1864 after the Fall of Atlanta. In September of 1864, Sherman succeeded in capturing Atlanta and burned it down in November, before embarking on his "March to the Sea"( I absolutely don't think the Russians would burn Pokrovsk, as their stated goal is to "liberate" that city in the name of the ethnic Russians and Separatists that live there. If anything, the Ukrainians would burn it down - though its doubtful that US advisors would allow that). The Confederate commander, General John Bell Hood, referred to by General Sherman as "Old Wooden Head", instead of trying to stop or slow down Sherman on his "March to the Sea" (March to Pokrovsk in Ukraine), inexplicably turned West from Atlanta, and began an attack hundreds of miles North into Tennessee toward Nashville. General Sherman at the time thought it was totally absurd when he famously stated: "If he [Hood] will go to the Ohio River, I'll give him rations. ... my business is down south." Well, Hood and his small Confederate Army continued northward for 250 miles, first getting decimated at the Battle of Franklin (the Union deliberately backed up, even though they seriously damaged Hood's Army), and then getting totally destroyed at the Battle of Nashville on December 16th, 1864. Hood's army was crushed, completely fell apart and ceased to be a functioning military unit after that battle. It appears that Russian General Gerasimov, and the field commander General Apti Alaudinov, seem to be looking at the Ukrainian offensive in Kursk EXACTLY as General Sherman looked at the November-December 1864 Confederate Offensive into Tennessee. They won't be too concerned about it, and they will just "lure" the Ukrainian forces in, let them advance 40 or 50 kilometers (maybe more), maybe even let them keep advancing even if the Ukrainians lose a few fights along the way. Then, when the Russian are well dug in closer to Kursk city, they will turn and counter the Ukrainians, surround them, and wipe them out. Let us hope the Ukrainians will have the sense to surrender. General John Bell Hood thought he was going to get a BIG PR VICTORY for the Confederacy with his "BOLD ATTACK", that might cause the Union to negotiate. Of course, the reality was that he had ZERO CHANCE of that. And it's exactly the same for the Ukrainians today in Kursk region, and the foolishness of it is really a tragedy for the men made to fight there. It will only increase the speed of the Russian capture of Pokrovsk in Donbass, while needlessly taking many of these men's lives in Kursk region. Budanov, the Ukrainian commander of the Kursk offensive, is the "Old Wooden Head" of the Ukrainian military. My only question to you though is that, while I understand that General John Bell Hood was from Texas, why would the US Army name an important Fort after such a bumbling and incompetent Commander? It was of course renamed Fort Cavazos only a year ago, but largely for "Woke" reasons - since Cavazos was the first Latino 4 star and the Army felt Confederate names had to go. But the US Army NEVER should have named an important Fort after a totally incompetent General. Oh well, I guess some time in the future Ukraine will have their "Fort Budanov", just as many Generals and Presidents who proved to be incompetent get rehabilitated.
@bwellington3001
@bwellington3001 25 дней назад
Budanov is a sociopath, he hates people because he was bullied in military academy and only got his position due to his mom connections. Another commander is Sirsky - he is ethnic russian and his relatives living in Russia and Australia confirmed that he always disliked ukrainians, considered them low and cheating people, he hated the fact that he had to work with them in HQ. He was only there for his career, enjoying the luxury of visiting NATO countries and things like that. They really just dont care, the entire country is like a death cult at this point, being ran by "enlightened gurus" swimming in millions of dollars.

Very good analogy. One difference is that Ukraine is able to get military and economic life support from the west, while the confederacy was under blockade. Hood was honored along with other confederates as a result of the lost cause revisionism that prevailed in the first half of the 20th century. The most ridiculous is the carving of Jefferson Davis likeness into Stone Mountain.

I've been trying to study this war but find it very difficult to find "accurate" info. It's amazing how some channels are so hyped about Ukraine success. Of course, other channels pump Russian success. Its so easy to fall for all the propaganda that's out there. One channel that I occasionally visit is "The Enforcer". According to that channel, Ukraine is destroying everything Russia has. Whats really going on?

Really interesting analysis. I think I might add 1 more effect Kursk offensive has over the Ukrainian and over the Russian side. Thanks to that operation ukraine arms forces morale should be up and therefore conscription might be easier, on the flip side the russian conscription should be easier as well due to "defend the motherland". And of course, that offensive into the russian territory stopped the peace negotiations, which may be the main objective.

Nato and the Ukraine are now experiencing operational and soon strategic defeat. This doesn't mean that the front will collapse any time soon, yet is the precursor to a failing of the lines and withdraw, desperate defensive mini counter attacks, and as the Fire Brigades are further weakened and lose combat capability. This is a compounding of retreat and loss of operational control by the Ukraine and Nato forces. While history does not repeat we can find examples of this in the defeat of the Axis forces by the Soviet Union as they drove West following the defeat of the Axis at Kursk and the later destruction of Army Group Center during operation Bragration. Hell hath no fury as Russia defending herself from a foe who has stated that the destruction of Russia is the goal.

Lets step back a moment here General and lets suppose the Mexican army, or cartel, not sure if there's a difference, suddenly came across our southern border and took over 400-500 sq km of southern Arizona or New Mexico and captured a few dozen small towns. You would probably say that's no big deal, right? I mean we're talking desert and cactus, not even farmland, okay? I would rather suppose that the U.S. would be rather pissed and on a monumental scale, fingers pointing all over the place, heads starting to roll, this couldn't be happening to us, etc. For some reason General you don't seem to fathom that Russians might not take such a casual view as you that the Ukrainians are sitting around Mother Russia despoiling their holy country regardless of what their feckless leader, or you, tells them.

My opinion is that for the Ukrainians, Donbass is lost. So everything that is sent there is lost. On the other hand, if you look at maps with fortifications, you will see that as soon as we leave the Russian-speaking Oblasts, there are no more fortifications, the next ones being right around Kiev. By occupying a few km2 of Russian territory, the Ukrainians can perhaps negotiate by leaving the Russian-speaking territories in the hands of the Russians and giving them back the Kursk region in exchange for the promise not to advance further than the Russian-speaking Oblasts, thus leaving Kyiv and Zelensky alone.

I am someone who believes peace is calling...and let's hope both Slavic peoples end this madness But I agree: what is the strategic benefit of the incursion? The Kursk Nuclear plant is out of reach...Sudja is the biggest town with 5000 people - a village...then what? There is nowhere to go in such a vast country...YES: Russia stuffed up and this must be seen as a tactical success...Why? Russia has long borders: what if a group of NATO countries did an incursion? That would be a different ball game...So may be this is good for Russia: A lesson not to eb forgotten by Gerasimov!!!

The main problem the Ukrainians face is they do not have an airforce. They are also inferior to the Russians in artillery and manpower. The ground they have captured is strategically insignificant. The only way the Ukrainians could breakthrough to Kursk, is if the Russian response to the Ukrainian offensive is totally incompetent. If the Ukrainians cannot pull some kind of rabbit out the hat, they are deep trouble, especially if try to hang on to the salient they have created in the Kursk strategic direction.
