I like these because it's like eavesdropping on the two of them chatting at the post-presentations mingler at a Curators Conference.

I am glad that Battleship Texas is running these videos. It allows those of us who love her to see what is going on during the restoration. I can't wait until it is done. I am quite sure TEXAS will be beautiful

If it had said USS New Jersey, would Ryan been thinking, "How can I get this home?"

Uncle Charlie worked at the Naval Gun Factory (Now called the Navy Yard) and he made 5 inch guns. The barrel was spun and the machinist road in a 'sulky' with the cutting bit which travelled along the barrel if I recall what he told me correctly. He was also at Pearl during the attack, which is another story.

I can thank you guys enough for what you do working together to learn best practices to preserve these historic ships. I hope all the museum ships work with you. Best I can tell they won't be making anymore of these. They must be preserved!

The New Jersey was a welded hull the hull I think heard was 14" thick. I am a pipefitter and I was wondering how they welded 14" plate? When we weld pipe together we typically bevel the end of the pipe and start with root weld which if you look inside the pipe you should see a root weld seam joining the 2 pieces then a layer or multiple welds to fill in the rest of the bevel. How did they do battleship armor?

Would've been funny to see Ryan's reaction if one said USS New Jersey.
