Sorry we had an off week last week (was visiting fam and then my dad got sick and then I got sick so it's been hectic), but there will be a double drop of episodes 13 & 14 next week to make up for it! xxx
This might be a good time to bring up the fact that it was established that there are "only 12 Cylon models." The Final Five and the rest. But Sharon is an Eight.
It is NOT, Remember the whole: "I have a rash"/"I hope she was worth it" exchange They were laying the ground that Hotdog slept around in the SAME episode where Cally and Tyrol were in danger
@@ChibiHoshiDragon Right, which is about the time they decided on the Final Five. They didn't know who the Final Five would be (or that the "Final Five" would even be a thing) from the start. So, at the end of season 2, they did a big time jump and thought of various ways to show everyone's lives had changed, which was getting married and having a baby in the case of Tyrol and Cally. Then, in episode 15 of season 3, just 5 episodes before the Final Five reveal, the line about the rash is dropped. So, yes, they laid the groundwork... 5 episodes earlier. If you know anything about TV writing schedules, that's more proof that it *was* a retcon, not that it wasn't.
Ron Moore stated over time that he never planned out much past the next 10 episodes each half season, so it's truly amazing how well things flowed. Even the last batch of episodes were going to have the final battle be different, but he wasn't satisfied with that. And with what comes up soon with Anders, that's largely due to the actor I think breaking his neck and more limiting him.
I'd have to check my old notes, but off the top of my head, Adama admonishing the new deck chief (Radgurzky?) Was not in the aired version. Originally, we go from Adama in his quarters and Laura jogging to Adama doing her in the hall. Baltar's sermon was also extended.
This episode is right after The Face of the Enemy as Tigh invites Gaeta to it and the end of them. The final five was an idea RDM had at the beginning of season three and wasn't settled on until halfway through that season, if I remember correctly. So, yeah, I think the whole hotdog thing was RDM realizing they had a loose thread that needed to be snipped.
They set it up for almost a whole year though. Remember the whole: "I have a rash"/"I hope she was worth it" exchange in 3x15? They were laying the ground that Hotdog slept around in the SAME episode where Cally and Tyrol were in danger Given the whole message from HeadSix was A child (not childREN), you should have already been suspect that Nicolas wasn't really a Tyrol once it was revealed he was one of the Final Five and should have been wondering who the father was for a while.
Oops, meant this as a reply to surlycanadian but posted it in the wrong spot: Very well said. People tend to forget this because it happened entirely off screen, but Zarek and Gaeta worked together daily for a year as members of the Baltar administration prior to the Cylons arriving at New Caprica. Gaeta no doubt recognizes that Zarek isn't a saint, but the fleet is at its lowest point. It needs leadership and hope, and what do they get? Roslin "noping out" and Adama striking an alliance with Cylons against the wishes of the people. He has valid reasons for the alliance but it hasn't been presented well to the people. It makes sense that VP Zarek would step in to fill the power vacuum, and that there would be many aboard Galactica who consider a deal with the Cylons to be inexcusable. Leadership has utterly failed in the aftermath of Earth.
Gaeta knows that Starbuck isn’t a cylon because that was explained when they tested her. He doesn’t know about her remains being found on Earth. He came at her because she targeted him for public ridicule when she thought he was a cylon collaborator. He was simply repaying the favour to her. Because Starbuck is generally such a shitty person, he also happens to be justified in his personal hatred for her because she wanted to kill him and didn’t care that there was no direct evidence of collaboration. plus her mission on the Dimitrius and her refusal to go back to the fleet cost him his leg and in the end they didn’t find a habitable planet anyway. He trusts Zarek because he saw Zarek stand up against the cylon occupation and be imprisoned for those principles. And then he’s got cylon prejudice, so that lines up for Gaeta. You’ve got Baltar wrong here. He’s getting his followers riled up because angry is better and healthier than depressed and suicidal after the failure of Earth.
Interesting, so maybe instead of seeing Baltar as some kind of guru, thise people have adopted him as a symbol of their loss and frustration. Like certain imperfect politicians with strangely religious followers.
I dont think Adama overreacted. He's already made it clear that during the last mutiny/labor strike he would not let anyone tear the fleet apart. That mesns the use of force.
There is one Uber crazy question re Kara. Her Viper isn't Jump capable, unlike the Raptors. How did she get all the way to Earth, and then all the way back?
