I'm a big Stargate fan, but Battlestar has one of the deepest character developments I have ever seen in a SciFi series, heck, in any series in general. The philosophy about humanity and the psychological aspect that this series investigates it's beyond any other series or movie out there.
Please don't compare it with Stargate.. Stargate is a true scifi series whereas battlestar is drama, accident just colored with spaceships... Battlestar is a pain to watch, i tried very very hard but couldn't go beyond episode 7.. on the other hand i enjoyed every episode of Stargate
@@howsotope8553 If you haven't watched all of Battlestar Galactica then you can't make an objective comparison. It's very silly to compare 2 things with each other and claim that one is better than the other, if you haven't fully reviewed one. That's the definition of bias.
Im 31 and have watched countless shows throughout my life and this still holds up as one of the best shows ever it still ranks #1. If you haven't watched, definitely check it out.
"I know this has been a hard day. There’s been plenty of them lately. I can guarantee you there’ll be plenty more. Remember your self esteem, your self respect and your self worth. Hold strong to them. Because, people are watching. You’re the guardians of the fleet. They need to know that they can count on you" Brilliant quote...
Its Been 5 Years... What timeless was then is still timeless now...This Sci-fi show is beyond sci-fi. its is a show about humanity. not about race, not about who is good and who is bad, but being able to live... this show has changed me in ways one cannot list. Greetings from the Philippines!
The 100 is a really solid series, and no it isn't dying as it's about to start it's fifth season. But ITS WAY TOO EARLY to even suggest where it stands on SCI-FI. Stargate SG-1 is in my opinion the greatest
Olmos and Sackhoff played the role of their lifetime. They at least should have been awarded a Golden Globe and an Emmy. But also Helfer and Hogan should have had these awards for their astonashing performance. The series leaves StarTrek and other SF-shows lightyears behind.
Unpopular opinion: I liked this even more than The Wire and I LOVE The Wire It may well be the greatest thing I've watched Film or TV, so many lessons about life and the human condition. Its being six years since I binge watched it one summer before college and it hasn't been equalled in my eyes. The epic, philosophical and the intimate were combined with equal skill. Old characters acting and giving advice to younger ones, people getting shit done and holding on their sanity and some form of family at the end of the world as they know it. The apocalypse wasn't an excuse to make this a tv show about fufilling your dream of being a fantasy badass. It felt so unbearably real and true to human nature than almost anything I've ever watched in the more supposedly grounded worlds of network or even cable TV. It was simply about finding a some small measure of peace with each other (if it's even in possible) in a very indifferent and cold universe. Carl Sagan - 'You're an interesting species. ... You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other
FINALLY! Someone gets it! Thank you for this trailer. So many I have found just give too much away. It's a brilliant show and half of it is the mystery!
I've watched the whole BSG series (starting with Caprica) all the way through again for the 5th time recently, and this trailer just makes me to go through the whole series again for a Tricia Helfer run 😁
When Battlestar Galactica first aired on TV I instantly knew this show would be different from others. It had beautiful character development along with spectacular action scenes. BSG touches on many subjects and does it wonderfully. To me BSG is soo much more then a TV show. This is entertainment at its best.
That's probably one of the Top Ten TV Series ever made and for sure the number one Sc-Fi show ever. Star Trek, Babylon5, Stargate, etc. can't even touch this.
Outstanding job mate, Has to be the best series I've watched across all genres. For those of you not into Sci-Fi I guarantee if you give it a chance and watch the first series you'll be hooked.
Having seen the entire series so far, I can say that this trailer is probably to best summary of the basic events so far, and the way it's been edited and put to music is fantastic too. Well done.
GREAT JOB! I will use this trailer to convince ALL my friends to watch the best series that ever aired on TV in my lifetime. Great scenes, great choice of music, and again, GREAT JOB!!!!
Easily the best tribute out there. Outstanding job of capturing the feel of the show! And none of the crap music everyone else seems obligated to add. Thanks for this.
Very nicely done. Good editing. I really liked the interchange of music. Using Globus at some moments but then going back to the Cylon theme when Six talks. Has a nice feel of staying true to its root source.
This is the best show i've ever seen. Yesterday i finished it 3rd time and this time i believe that i missed nothing... it has incredibly sensitive details which makes your mind blow and blow everytime you catch. Backed up in 3 hard drives, because i'm gonna make my children watch in future... It has lot of sad-but-true details of humanity which develops perspective.
thanks for this trailer. I have been looking for a new show and this trailer made me order the box. Now I am just waiting for it and hoping it is as good as the comments say.
i bought it the 4 seasons already... is a piece of art this series... amazing in the 70's was the best now with this new version is the best of the best..... congrats to the creators of this series....
VERY well done. You don't give anything away at all, and that is really hard to do considering you know certain things from the very beginning of the show. As someone who has worked on music video's (personal, not professional,) i know how hard it is to sync certain scene's with music. You pulled it off masterfully. Especially the last sequence with Diem Ex Dei, a personal favorite of mine. ;P
I always liked the technology in Battlestar Galactica. Many people don't get it. The people of the colonies are the decedents of a more advanced civilization. They simply lost their technological capabilities for a time but the theory were still there somewhere. Think about it that way. Give humanity after the 2. World War the working theory´s behind artificial gravity, levitation technology and Faster than light Travel and wait for a few decades. It may still be advanced technology but it will be build in a primate and crude way and look pretty much like what is shown in this show.
+TheExplodingChipmunk A lot of people did not understand the premise of the show; whether it be religiously, politically or even technologically AND in a creation sense... and only saw it as a scifi "escape from the AI" show... Quite sad... This show was so much deeper than most people give it credit for, I wish it would have went on for the intended duration and not wrapped after 4 seasons! Which still ended GREAT in my opinion! oh well... Still my number 1 show of all time!
Kim B You have to remember, Caprica was on when Sci Fi changed to Syfy and went from a focus on science fiction shows to a focus on wrestling, ghost hunter type series and really bad monster movies (with a handful of science fiction series grandfathered in.) Caprica was too cerebral for the audience Syfy wanted to attract. They no longer believed in the old "What if?" advertising and just wanted beasts, bullets and 'splosions. It's a shame. The 1st (only) season was great and the last few minutes of the series hinted at the fantastic story they could have told.
I know this video was from a long time ago, but Caprica was also kind of confusing to many audiences as it left the question of why the Colonies abandoned advanced technology? They obviously had it as Zoe Graystone was very comfortable with the advanced Virtual Reality and unbelievable reality it showed, also there were hints throughout the show that the civilization was already being ran by massive computer technology leading to the metacognitive processor. As for the slavery aspect of Caprica, at some point it would have become obvious to many ethicists that the indiscriminate use of AI in relieving humanity of its menial tasks would eventually have a horrible outcome as any intelligent life artificial or not would have reasoned that slavery is a disgusting and despicable concept and would do anything in its power to free itself by any means necessary. Caprica was a design exercise in why you do NOT use anyone (or anything) as a substitute for menial labor. I just hope its not too late for "Earth" humanity to come to this realization and not be led down that rabbit hole with companies like Google, Microsoft, and others seeking the golden egg that would make AI do the work for them and humanity as a whole.
A viewer had to really pay attention to what was going on to get it. I'll even admit that I wasn't fully invested in the first few shows and ended up really confused as to what was going on. Then I revisited it, I paid attention, and thought it was great.
Dude this video almost made me shead a tear, In the realm of Scifi, nothing even comes close to GALACTICA. Simply the best series ever made and ever will be made. So say we all!
You will not regret your purchase ;) The song at 3:41 is Globus - Diem ex Dei. This song is not part of the series...the only reason it's in here is because listening to that song inspired me to make the trailer in the first place! Having said that, the music in the show (composed by Bear McCreary) is absolutely phenomenal in its own right. And should you ever get the chance to see the BSG Orchestra perform live - don't miss it!
A friend of mine recommended that I watch this, so I thought I'd see if there were any spoiler-free vids. Great job with this, you've won me over! Think I shall be ordering the complete box set this week :-)
you take your lost, your prison break, your 24, your house, your smallville, and look at this, pure, unadulterated drama, television at its best, THE 21ST CENTURIES BEST TV PROGRAMME SO FAR, SO SAY WE ALL
I've seen the first 2 seasons, and part of the 3rd. Master work of Space Opera! I'm glad the shipboard fire scene was placed into this trailer. Fire aboard a combat ship is a fearsome experience. Specialist Henderson manages to pull out her favorite apprentice before the firebarrier was closed, but he was flashburned beyond salvation. Chief explains to her that she did very well at the barrier during the alarm, but the less experienced had not doned environment suits. Sad. She crys.
This show came to me at the perfect time in life. When It came out, I remember hearing about/ seeing it everywhere but was never interested. I was young. Now, I'm out on my own and out in the cold ass world, realizing the harshness of everything around me. I started watching this show like a month ago. I feel lost in space like mankind on its journey to earth. It's a beautiful series... I fucking love battlestar galactica. .
I have just finished the whole series and watching this again sends shivers up my spice even though I know exactly what happens. Thats when you know its a damn good show!!!!
It was meant to be a series but as I stated syfy pulled the plug. Here is 1 of coutless links to prove it. www.indiewire.com/2012/11/with-no-pick-up-from-syfy-battlestar-galactica-prequel-blood-chrome-heads-to-youtube-43623/ You are the clown as you have no manners and reduce yourself to name calling. :)
The show is better the second time around. I find my jaw dropping at the littlest comments of the players involved! All the players are amazing from the beginning. It's also fun to see how certain characters play out through time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The pilot of the series is one of the most captivating movies i have ever seen! As for the show....i miss it so much...I miss the cast with their larger than life acting.I miss the epic and at the same time touching soundtrack. I miss the story which was far from mainstream and cliches..This series made me THINK and DOUBT ideas and beliefs i was certain they were fixed in my mind....It had its flaws but what the frak! It made me BELIEVE that the characters and their world is could be real!!
Are you kidding me? That was bloody AWESOME. Put THAT in a theater and let people balk at this series. It took you a while to do, but like someone alluded to, it's best to leave the 'human cylons?' a teaser at the end of the trailer. If I saw this on that stupid '20' television trailer show at the movies, I'd be sorely tempted to give it a shot. Kudos to your editing judo.
