Glad I found your video. I've had this game since it came out but finally sitting down to play it. Hearing what skills to match with what for a role was helpful
Glad you found it helpful! I did post a slightly updated video here which might be more helpful though ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vna09CZav2Q.html
Thanks, really appreciate it! Update 1.3 has changed the pilot skills - check out the latest video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vna09CZav2Q.html
Hey @Shadowcoast Gaming mate I'm 33 years old and I've been searching 10 other channels to find one that doesnt just blab on about nothing. I appreciate your straight to the point and factual information. I subscribed. Thank you for being straight to the point and not bloating video excessively with opinions and stories about nothing.
Could you make a strategy video showing different battlefield tactics. You might have to cut to different scenes/examples with video editor. Maybe some red arrows. Could even use footage from your campaign!
What I do not understand is: I can only field one Lance, right? That means I can have 4 rolls at the same time at most. e.g. Scout, Long-range, Damage-sink, ... But i always end up simply taking the 4 heaviest Mechs that I have available. I rarely am at liberty to adjust per mission. In the missions I do not get the same lances as enemies but the constitution of the lances is always the same.
If you're burning through C-Bills, stop *hoarding*. You don't need a huge amount of equipment sitting in your storage. Rule of Thumb: AC2s, AC5s, SRM6s, and LRM10s - keep around 4 of each in stock Medium Lasers - keep 10 in stock Small Lasers, MGs, and Flamers - keep 4 to 6 of each in stock Large Lasers, AC10s, LRM15s, LRM20s, PPCs, AC20s - keep 2 to 3 of each in stock LRM5s and SRM4s - keep around 5 in stock SRM2s - I typically sell all of these, but keeping 3 at most in stock works. Heat Sinks - keep 20 in stock Jump Jets - keep 10 small, 6 large, and 4 assault in stock Sell everything else except the +, ++, and +++ gear. Sell all mechs you don't plan to use in some way. Likewise, don't keep more than 8 mechs in rotation once you can have more than one mech bay. Do this and you can have plenty of C-Bills to live extravagantly
Multi-Target + Breaching Shot = Most useful skills in the game. Once the AI gets in cover, it's very difficult to flush them out. Breaching shot negates that and you can do it to three enemies as well (As long as you fire one shot per each target).
Agree but I also like bulwark so you'll see in my Iron Man - Impossible mode campaign that I train a fair number of Bulwark + Multi/Breaching shot Mechwarriors.
thankyou so much for your explanatory videos, i find battletech is pretty bad at telling you about everything ingame. (i just bought it last week in the steam sale, seriously regret not getting it on its release.)
gunnery doesnt have anything to do with called shots...it only decides if u actually hit the target. tactics can give u improved chances of hitting the right part of the mech on called shots.
Called shot isn't part of pilot skills. You can precision strike using Moral or, if the enemy Mech is knocked down or extremely overheated, you get a free called shot!
The tactics tree will increase the accuracy of your precision shots and called shots. You get “called shot bonus” in one of the tactics nodes (forget which one), and “called shot mastery” in the ninth tactics node
Did a recent patch change this? i followed this procedure and now my campaign is gone. I do have some .sav files, from back in June, can these be reloaded?
Rob, which procedure? Not sure if this is a comment meant for the Roguetech install? You can swap in the .sav for June and they should show up (worked before update 1.1). I haven't done any game file changes since update 1.1 since I'm running through an Iron Man - Impossible Mode campaign with update 1.1 and didn't want to change anything until complete!
First off, I really do appreciate your videos, but I wasn't interested in Ironman mode. Back to the first course. You created a short video about how to quickly delete old saved game files that when one deleted a mass of saved game files, the game loading would speed up. I have also found the process worked for some missions that would not start. So I would use your procedure to load my compaign, then delete the campaign (which deletes the saved game files) and then save the campaign again. I did this and it seems I've lost my campaign completely. I had not played in a few weeks (since June 25) and I wondered if a patch had changed this process. I still have some saved game files, some from June, is there a way I can use these to recover my campaign? If yes, where do I need to place the files. I play the game via Steam.
Thanks for the clarification! The patch should not have impacted that process (as long as you re-saved immediately after deleting the campaign). The only thing that might have impacted it is if you had installed any mods? If so, let me know and I can check and see if that caused an impact. Also, are you using Steam? Auto-updates normally should not impact save files but could if you had mods installed (one advantage of GOG is that you don't have to worry about auto-updates).
No mods. Authenticate through Steam. I had created a link to what I thought was the saved game folder, it's 6 digit number, but in research last night, I found that might NOT have been the saved game folder, but all the files in it are some form of FILENAME.sav... I had started a new campaign, thinking I could 'fool' the system into allowing me to copy some of the filename.sav files to where I thought was saved game files location, but that didn't work. I found another location, through research, but I didn't have time to try copying saved game files to that location. Can you tell me are there separate campaign files and saved game files? Thank you very much for helping me look into this.
Yup, keep checking the hiring halls and pick up a Ronin at some point! Also, Riptide (if you find him) performed very well for me (nothing special about him but he has 3/4 of my headshot 1 shots in my campaign)! Also, I don't really use Dekker now that I've capped most of my Mechwarriors out.
This game has so many missing elements that it really needs. You can't move mechs around in hangars and so good luck making a lance. You cannot view your mechs, ever, close up. The paint schemes are pointless because you can't even figure out what they look like. I feel like I'm a casual observer in this game. No attachment whatsoever to my crew or mechs.
Fair points but I think they wanted to focus on gameplay and game mechanics. All those other things are great points of improvement (hoping for patch updates, DLC's which include improvements and eventually BATTLETECH II). Agree on paint schemes, I'd like to pan around the Mechbay and see my Mechs and paint schemes. Also, I hope they patch it so you can switch around Mech orders!
