Actually they are called "Vizekusen" in Germany (pronounced Feetse), not "Neverkusen", because they only ever managed to become Vizemeister (second place in the league) in several seasons where they should have won. Vize means vice as in "vice president". I never heard anyone in Germany refer to them as "Neverkusen" over the years. I think that term was just invented a few years ago for English-speaking audiences.

Xabi Alonso’s first full season as a top flight manager is genuinely unheard of. Bayer Leverkusen made history yesterday by winning their first ever league title in which they ended Bayern Munich’s dominance in the Bundesliga and also snapped their long trophy drought as well. The mastermind behind their successful season is Xabi Alonso. 18 months ago when he first took over as the Bayer Leverkusen manager, the team was in a difficult situation. They’re in the German Cup final and also they’re a game away from reaching the Europa League semifinals and they’re favorites to win the Europa League especially with what Atalanta did to Liverpool last week at Anfield. Imagine if they win the treble without losing a single game. They’re a team that has been unstoppable all season and they absolutely deserved to win the Bundesliga and their resilience is unbelievable because time after time when their unbeaten streak was in danger on the line, they fought back and got a win and a result. Xabi Alonso staying at Bayer Leverkusen next season is good for the league and his own career because while I don’t see them going 43 games unbeaten next season, I’m interested to see what more this team can achieve together especially if you’re able to keep hold of guys like Florian Wirtz Victor Boniface etc for another season. He is the next great manager in football and he is destined for greatness and leading Bayer Leverkusen to their first ever league title ending the dominance that his former club had in this league for a long time it was a magical moment that was very good for football fans and what he’s done this season shocked the football world and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Bayer Leverkusen and Xabi Alonso.

In his first full seaso to topple the 11yr reigning champions, the German Giants, the Bundesliga Bullies, is an incredible achievement. Bayern of course tried to grab him, like they do with every top player/manager in other German teams, LIV wanted him, it's rumoured Real Madrid wanted him, but nah, instead of turning his back on his players for more money, bigger budget, the man chose to stay put, more power to you Alonso! More of this is needed in football.

Seeing how Leverkusen was performing last season when Xabi arrived, it was clear to see Leverkusen would compete against Bayern. Xabi really changed them and brought out the best out of every single player.

It likely won’t happen but a part of me really hopes Xabi just stays at Leverkusen and builds a real dynasty for many years to come. Because I’m personally tired of seeing the same bunch of teams in each league dominate each year. It would be great if Xabi could really transform the club from a one year wonder like Leicester or Napoli into a genuine powerhouse for many years and a club top players keep flocking to.

Best decision of Xabi Alonso to stay in Leverkusen. This hows true greatness. He believes that they can really built something long lasting there and I think he is right. Why not go for the CL title next year or at least be in the Top 4? If he can hold the team together, especially the freaks like Wirtz, then it is not unrealistic in my oppinion.

I saw this coming. Watched Leverkusens last 8-9 games last season, including their final Europa league games against Roma. Even though they lost, there was something about the team. The feeling great things were going to happen. Bayern was in turmoil, winning the Bundesliga only because Dortmund choked big time. Felt so strongly about Xabi and this team, I put $20 bucks on them to win the Bundesliga this season. Payout is $400. Not a ton of money, but then im not really a gambler so $20 was fine for me. Only kicking myself a bit that i didnt bet the treble!!

How many times do I have to say it, Bayern Munich’s downfall has been going on since last season and their problems are much deeper than the Harry Kane curse and I don’t think fans know that because they’re deluded and they don’t watch football or know ball at all. Bayern Munich losing the Bundesliga is something that has been coming for a such a long time. Why, because their problems started when they desperately sacked Julian Nagelsmann at a time where they were in the hunt to win a treble and for their own reasons they wanted to win trophies and they didn’t want to miss out on another opportunity to get Thomas Tuchel. While he was the right manager for Chelsea and won the champions league 4 months after he arrived at their club, the reality is that it’s been obvious to many people in the football world that Thomas Tuchel is out of his depth at Bayern Munich and I don’t hold back when I say that. First of all for anyone who says that they played so badly and won the Bundesliga last season without Kane yes I agree, but the reality is that they only won the league goal difference because Borussia Dortmund choked and blew their chance of winning the league. That was already a sign that there were cracks that were apparent in the team and they actually got away with it. People seriously thought that because it’s Bundesliga they can get away with it for another season. With all of the goals he’s been scoring, that hasn’t done enough to cover up for Bayern Munich’s problems especially since Xabi Alonso and Bayer Leverkusen are invisible and they just can’t lose a game at the moment and we should be giving them credit for that but because fans don’t have lives, they wanna blame the guy who’s doing so well without understanding context due to the fact that he came from Tottenham. I thought many people said last season that they needed a striker and now the narrative is so different. Harry Kane is unfortunate that he joined a team in decline and is going up against a team that refuses to lose. When they heard that he joined Bayern Munich to win trophies, Bayer Leverkusen turned into prime Barcelona. If he goes trophy less this season, it’s not the end of the world because he’s scoring goals and you have to win trophies when you play for Bayern Munich and he’ll win some especially if they rebuild and overhaul the squad and with the England national team the emergence of Jude Bellingham Phil Foden Bukayo Saka Kobbie Mainoo and Cole Palmer and Kane in his prime means that they have no more excuses if they don’t win anything internationally. He’ll win something very soon, fans need to be patient if they know what that even means.

At this point I feel bad for Harry Kane. For many years, despite all the goals he was scoring consistently, he was being mocked for not winning anything. Last summer, he went to Bayern Munich a team that is guaranteed to win at least 1-2 trophies a season. He’s been scoring goals has had the best season of his career, yet what’s funny about it is that the season after he joins, Bayern Munich lose the Bundesliga for the first time in over 12 years and they could also finish the season trophy-less. Kingsley Coman has also lost his first ever league title and I don’t know why people say that’s Kane’s fault when he’s been carrying the team and Coman has literally done nothing lately because as usual he’s injured. That’s a typical Spursy moment and while he’s been great individually, fans are mocking him saying that he’s cursed you can’t take Tottenham out of him, he can score a lot of goals, but you’ll never win anything with him in the team. Ok that’s true and yes he’s not produced when it matters the most, but to me the whole trophy curse narrative is silly and absolutely disrespectful to him even though it’s kinda difficult to continue defending him for his lack of trophies at the age of 30 especially when a guy like Endrick at the age of 17 on Palmerias has won 5 trophies in his career before his move to Real Madrid in the summer. Tottenham haven’t won a trophy since 2008 the Audi Cup doesn’t count as one, England haven’t won anything internationally since 1966. He was the leading goalscorer of both of those teams and even though he won nothing, you can’t say that a guy who has 39 goals and 10 assists put a curse on Bayern Munich and is the reason why they lost the Bundesliga the season after he joins. Fans know nothing about football and the only thing they care about is attention and abusing social media when the reality is that you have better things to do in a day with your life yet you’re mocking a player who’s doing his job and making money while you’re just wasting your time doing nothing with yourselves and fans need to understand context when talking about Bayern Munich’s decline this season and in the last year or so.

Football fans must know that Bundesliga is a farmers league. Just because Xabi has won it, it does not mean Leverkusen is an elite team in Europe. Bayern themselves won this farmers league so many times, but yet as a club, they are smaller than Man City, Barcelona, Liverpool, Man United, PSG, Inter Milan, Juventus, Chelsea and Real Madrid due to the farmer league status of this league.
