Actually almost 2 season. From 17th to 6th in Alonso's first year (2022-2023), then by 29 from 34 games, Leverkusen is the champion (2023-2024). Remarkable!

Xabi Alonso is the best coach of this era. The fact that he brought the team down from relegation all the way to the top in one season is an amazing story. The moment when they were able to beat Munich, their toughest challenge, theres really no turning back and Neverlusen continues the winning streak to this very day where they won their title after more than 100 years of waiting. Congratulations, Bayer Leverkusen! I’ve always cheered for you over Bayern. I remember the team that had Lucio, Juan, Zé Roberto, Ballack and they didn’t get to be champions. Then Bayern bought most of these players. So, so happy for Leverkusen, for Rudi Völler, for Xabi Alonso! I think they’re going to set an era with this team. Xabi Alonso has shown commitment and I hope the players follow him and don’t go somewhere else.
