Bayonetta 10th Anniversary: PS4/Xbox One/Pro/X - Everything You Need To Know 

That hurt me physically when you said Bayonetta released on the 360 10 years ago. It doesn't feel like that long ago, feels like just a few years ago the 360 came out.

I just want an improved/Remastered Version of Metal Gear Rising Revengence .

I believe the reason why they chose 1440p is because some particle effects are tied to resolution. You can try this on PC version on prologue chapter. If you go on witch time, the rain droplet size become smaller the higher the resolution is. At 720p theyre huge. At 4k, you can barely see them.

All for more ports of this game! Bayonetta is an incredible game and it deserves to be played by as many people as possible!

Good thing I got the Switch bundle for both Bayo games. Sure the frame rate may not be super smooth when in handheld mode, but to even take it on the go is sweet. Not to mention it's on the console in which Bayo 3 will be released solely on too.

I must really be getting old, when I don't see how a resolution higher than 1080p can be "disappointing".

I never played Bayonetta, but I think it would be right up my alley, since I like Devil May Cry so much.

While a great port I’m still disappointed they aren’t full 4K on Pro and X1X. The game is not that demanding and can easily be full 4K on Pro and X1X. Hopefully they have a future patch for 4K on Pro and X1X.

I'm kinda upset that this game didn't fully utilize the full power of the One X or Ps4 Pro. Both versions should of been 4k60......no exceptions.

They advertised the collection as "4K 60 fps" on Xbox One X. It's baffling to see that was a straight lie.

I know we're always asking the DF team for a ton of analysis, but it would be great if they analized DMC3 on Switch. It seems like a port where Capcom actually invested some money and the DMC crew made interesting changes.

Why would you not compare these to the PC version? It’s THE DEFINITIVE VERSION right now. And it’s bizarre how much the PC platform gets ignored and downplayed every time John is in a video. If It do appear it’s either to reinforce the good old cliched lie that is “unless you spend 2000$ on a monster gaming PC” or when the PC platform have gotten a shoddy port or version. In a video like this when it’s the definitive version and runs well on basically every potato out there? Not a chance in hell he’ll talk it up or show it off.

To this day, you will still get PS3 fan boys saying that the patch Sega released fixed the frame rate issues, when all it did was fix the load times, all this despite Digital Foundry showing how horrible the it ran.

I have to pay again for just higher resolution? Such an upgrade should be free for game owners. I am disappointed

I played the hell out of vanquish on my ps3 and absolutelly love it. I never played bayonetta so im really looking to play that. I allready have my copy of this collection and dam, that steel case looks unfrggnbelievable. Its so beautifull.

1440p isn't bad if it is stable 60FPS with all settings maxed. Though it is false advertising on the game for consoles touting 4K when it's 2k. Still a great game and I'm happy it's getting more attention. Just wish it wasn't advertised in such a way that it could piss people off.

Can you guys add some shadowing to the logos in the future? Clips like 5:41 are difficult to see because of that white flag background behind the "X." Thanks for the video though! Surprised by that 1440p res for the XboxOneX version.. curious what reasoning they have for it

Bayonetta on Switch was not disappointing. It looked great and ran great. And on the go.... You just couldn't beat it

At the very least I would have expected something like dynamic resolution scaling targeting 4K on the Pro/X.

Ninja Gaiden 2 is not 4K on X1X, but it does hit a virtually locked 60 fps at about 1700p. So even under emulation NG2 is arguably more impressive than this port. I hope Series X makes all BC content 4K. Maybe even 8K if and where feasible.

All thats happening here is a rip off towards gamer's wanting to playing specific game's they loved playing on their previous gen console's... For both console version for PS4 Pro & Xbox One X there looks to be no difference whatsoever!... These 2 game's have already been available for both the PS4 & Pro & Xbox One & X for a while now but i powered up both my console's to check on any Weekend Offers & suddenly both game's are now being sold wrapped together in a 10th Anniversary Edition which i'd be happy to buy if they actually made some major changes to sharpen the looks/load times/locked in framerates but this is just another quick cash cow... If you want to buy the 2 together because you've not got your Xbox 360 (as the PS3 Version was a mess) then do so but i dont see anything that would say Yes this has been upgraded!.. If you want to look at what a proper remaster & coincidentally that was a 10th Anniversay Edition should look like is the amazing work done on Halo Combat Evolved 10th Anniversary Edition as you clearly see they really pushed the boat out on that game & it looked more like a remake... The true telling point is when your playing thar 10th Anniversary Edition with the original graphics & then quickly switch it to the updated graphics (without having to do so via the optiins menu) by the click of button & your bombarded by a game that looks like it was made for the Xbox 360 or even Xbox One & PS4... Paying for those sort of upgrades i truly dont mind but these are just lazy ass ports & i wouldnt be surprised if they just bundled them together & slapped on a 10th Anniversary name to get it to sell!... Halo 10th Anniversay isn't the only game to get a full make over & it would be great if these 2 game's had been done in a similar manner as i played these 2 games to death but & would gladly play them to death again if they looked so much better but there's no way of anything of major significance that has been changed & I'll reiterate thats a rip off , plain & simple... I'd love to play these 2 game's with updated specs but why should i as they look almost identical & i still own my Xbox 360 & both of the original versions of these 2 game's... The only gamer's who should or may want to buy these 2 are the one's l that havent played either 1 or both of these 2 game's but thats it , & im tired of seeing remastered put on many game's & they are just the same game... I do know the difference between a Remaster & a Remake but when 2 classic game's are bundled together with next to no changes but they still call it an Anniversary Edition is just wrong.... This is yet another missed opportunity to take 2 great game's & give them the deserved upgrades they needed to look & play even better on todays console's but you can clearly see this is as minimilist as you can get & its a pity as when they do this it leaves a sour taste in one's mouth for delibaretly denying both game's ( especially Bayonetta ) all those great extra upgrades a proper Anniversay Edition should have... I know this video was made before the series consoles released, but what i want to know is, if i have bayonetta and vanquish 360 discs, will i see major improvement on the remasters on series x? Is it worth it to buy again, or stick to the originals?

The Switch version of the original Bayonetta was the best version for a long time in my opinion and the most faithful t the Xbox 360 original.

I really think that Switch could run this at 900p/60fps with a proper adaptation tbh. Also a port of Vanquish would be great.

Meanwhile, DMC 5 runs at a full 4K on One X and a respectable 1800p on the Pro. Both also do a fairly decent job of maintaining 60fps during gameplay.

I don't really see much point of this port. I mean yeah I get it but the Switch version came out and it was a really good port. Superior to the really god awful PS3 port. That was absolutely garbage and should not have been so. But the Switch had a pretty healthy 60fps. Dipped a few due to action moments but in most cases stayed at 60fps which is very impressive since its not really a official Nintendo licensed title. Its technically a 3rd-party title. There should have been much more of a difference than a more steady fps rate. Also the fact the sequel is not in it, also loses that value too. Again, its obvious since Nintendo wants it exclusive but still makes it kind of pointless port in my opinion.

Tom is the only one in Digital Foundry who gets straight to the point without showing any bias towards any platforms. John & Richard always has that mockery & laughing tones. While Alex constantly has that sarcastic laugh every time when they talk about consoles.

I kind of like the "darker" Xbox look. Playstation looks a bit washed out to me.

There's no way TAA would've meshed well with the artstyle, it would've ruined the look for me.

Vanquish where

Both Bayonetta and MGRR are masterpieces of 3d action games and should be remasted/improved. Bayonetta is more "smooth" and "beautiful" to make the gameplay more like "dancing" although the shortcoming is making the fight more like hit the air(it is a successful implication of the concept of Nintendo's PN03 which was a disaster of game "control" design that released in 2003, guess this was a part of reasons why Nintendo bought the second edition of Bayonetta), while MGRR stressed the interaction/slash between the protagonist and targets/objects, which is more like an Asia style action movie with exaggerated actions.

Seriously, just get Bayo 2 for Switch, it includes the first game if you get it physical.

If you want Bayonetta. Buy a Nintendo Switch. That's it

You will have the PS5 and X series and yet devs will port a old game with no new textures. This is just a SCAM to appeal the fanboys but with NO IMPROVEMENT. Textures even on PC look OUTDATED. DIGITAL FOUNDRY is being too POLITE. I remember when Doom 3 came, it had THREE sets of Textures then they ported 4K adding NEW TEXTURES. Sad the state of development with this.

These "remasters" that are essentially just the same game running at a higher resolution are some of the worst thing to come out of this generation and I hope that the full BC of next gen makes this a thing of the past as they should be able to just patch older games. I do worry that the next money making scheme will be "upgrade patches" that they'll sell you for this kind of thing. Higher resolution/fps patch for 19.99. And what's sad is that I'd probably pay it for something like Bloodborne. They're not gonna give up the remaster money, but they will look silly putting them out when the hardware is fully capable of running older games natively.

I really expected at least 1800p on the Pro and 2160p on the X. I mean 1440p on Vanquish made some sense because they doubled the framerate, but here they could have pushed harder. Hopefully there will be an update to upgrade the resolution.

I didn’t play any of Platinum’s games back in the day but bought Bayonetta on a whim when it released for PC... gameplay is amazing and the graphics hold up shockingly well for an older game. I was so impressed I bought Vanquish for PC before it even released. I wish Nier Automata had received a proper port like those two. It’s one of the worst PC ports of recent memory IMHO

That last level tho is very time consuming other than that loved the game had to get switch just to play the second one since PS4 and Xbox will never get it

i love platinum bought all bayonetta version , my favorite was the for free 360 BC version on the one X, but i have to say that Platinum games were a bit lazy , this could run easily at native 4K at least on the X, and maybe 1600p on the pro...

Oh my god, John. Please stop with this championing of TAA. I don’t want that stupid bullshit. With such a low 1440p resolution on the enhanced consoles, TAA WOULD HAVE FUCKING RUINED the image quality. The reason the 720p image doesn’t look that bad on the original 360 version is because it uses its AA older AA method. This 1440p enhanced console shit with what I assume is the same AA method on 360 is what keeps it looking relatively sharp for a 1440p game. If they used TAA, it would’ve made this remaster almost pointless over the back compat version

8:05 that happened with most multi plat games from last gen, at the end of the day I think it`s a subjective matter. I personally always preferred the "darker" look of the 360, PS3 games usually looked too flat and dull for my taste.
