Hm, that was interesting. I've been curious about Bayonetta ever since she got into Smash but I had no idea that her story was so complicated. Future Trunks from Dragon Ball would go insane having to deal with all that time travel and alternate realities.
Well, we have the original timeline, before Aesir timeline and past Aesir timeline! Bayonetta 2 started in the before Aesir timeline and changed into the past Aesir timeline, even if the difference is really small. We know this because of the vision of truth Bayonetta saw with her Eye of Darkness and Rosa died in two different ways. Anyway, my money is that Bayonetta 3 plays in the OG timeline, the one "without" Aesir if you get what I mean. Or it just continues where it ended, like Bayonetta 2 did... but the ghost in the teaser might be Aesir, meaning it then has to be the OG timeline whish means Aesir isn't trapped in an endless timeloop.
Very well done & entertaining video synopsis! It really captures the batshit insanity of the Bayo series. As far as the story goes, here are 2 snippets from Kamiya's Bayonetta 1 developer commentary which probably help to explain why the alternate timeline affects the main timeline: "Returning Cereza to the past after she's had experiences in the future created another axis of time. She escapes being sealed by Jeanne, protected by her pocket watch, which changes the course of history. This creates a past different from her previous tragic one." "Well. Another axis of time has been created, so now we have parallel worlds going on. So, Bayo's world is Bayo's world, separate from this new world. The Eyes of the World are probably the only ones affected by both worlds. Anthropic Principle, yo." So basically ~magic~
This was so fuckin good, man. For all the absurdity you had to wade through, this video ended up making a lot of sense! Bravo! Now I'm gonna go rewatch your Bayonetta 1 video, and then maybe fire up some bayonetta 2 and try for some plats! Stoked for your Bayonetta 3 video, whenever that ends up being!
Bayonetta 1 was by far the most entertaining game I've ever played. I have *hundreds* of hours invested in that game. B2 is an awesome sequel. And this synopsis is hype as fuck!
I've been trying to replay and S rank all the Devil Hunter missions and I definitely agree. I've only started playing Devil May Cry within the past month or so, but this new game has absolutely blown me away
You see this story made sense until they brought up time travel. this could have been just an easy story of Angels and Demons, but no. Sega just had to ask time travel! 😠
Uper-e I felt like people didn't get the humor, the point of the channel (for me at least) is the mix of overhyping some stuff and then bashing some others. It's the irony of making a 30min video about Bayonetta's plot and finish by saying "why the fuck do you want to make sense of the plot, just play the thing and fuck off". But of course people who don't know this and are sensitive about their favorite characters will feel attacked I guess
In retrospect, that video was made to have the maximum potential for outrage. It's like, imagine you watch a video about your favorite video game character/franchise and all they say is that it's shit, and then multiply that by every single character anyone wants on the smash roster. That's not even including the a mix of people who don't like that I was being "mean", people who thought it wasn't funny, and people who simply disagreed with what I said. I saw a lot of comments being mad because I was being hyperbolic and obviously biased and all I can really say is, "Well.....yeah....that's why it's funny. It's fucking ridiculous that I'm upset over this pointless video game shit!". I'm making myself look ridiculous for the sake of entertainment. Granted, I think the whole conversation of smash roster speculation is a waste of time, so I don't really care if people get the joke or not, but there's also people out there who genuinely care a lot and are upset because their the kinds of people I'm making fun of. So now you have me not only making fun of the characters that they want in Smash, but I'm also making fun of them for being invested in the conversation. I also think a lot of people really overestimate how much I actually care. Like, I obviously wasn't seething and foaming at the mouth when I was working on the video for three months. I sort of just look up what characters people wanted in Smash, sort of look at the roster and see how they would fit in, and just gave my honest thoughts. Of course, those thoughts were extremely exaggerated, but they are actually my opinions. For example, if you strip out the emotion out of everything I've said and just write down each little detail I point out, it's pretty clear that I'm being pretty reasonable. Let's take Geno for example. He's from an old RPG that's kind of irrelevant at this point, he's got enough potential for an interesting moveset, but he's a bit overhyped. Now, I could say that for one or two sentences and get my point across, but it's funny to sort of exaggerate my thoughts for the sake of entertainment. So instead, I just say, "Geno is an irrelevant character from one RPG 22 years ago! Who the hell actually cares about this guy! I mean, he would be fun to play as, but he's not even that important in Super Mario RPG! What? Are we going to add in Mallow too? At the end of the day, Geno is just overhyped!". Of course, I don't actually care that much, but it's funny to amp things up and get overly passionate! I'm making myself the butt of the joke by being overly invested and also taking a jab at people who want Geno, because it's sort of ridiculous how much people care. I mean, I can imagine how passionate people would be if Bowser hasn't been added in yet, but it's fucking Geno! Like, who cares, you know? In terms of reception, I suppose it's understandable. The video is basically me shitting on the main demographic that the video is targeted to. Granted, I didn't make the video to appeal to Smash fans at all. I made it for my audience and the kinds of people who I want watching my videos. At the end of the day, I had a pretty significant boost for myself, so it seems like the people who enjoyed the video subscribed and the people who hated it disliked the video and moved on. I guess I burned bridges with all of these new viewers, but I also don't really care that much. I mean, I could have sugar-coated the video and made everything more reasonable, but honestly, the kinds of people who hated the video were going to hate what I had to say anyways. I don't want to pander my videos to these kinds of people because it'll just be a ticking time bomb until they get upset over something else I say about some other video game they care about. I was kind of upset at the reaction initially, but I honestly prefer to make something that's polarizing as opposed to boring. Like, how many "Top 10 DLC Character Predictions for Smash" videos have you seen on RU-vid and how many of those videos will anyone actually care about in 5 years? If all I was doing making these videos was uploading part 277 of "Let's Play Pokemon Emerald", I would honestly kill myself. If I ever have a mission statement with these videos, it's that I want to make things that no one else is making, even if people hate it. As long as I can make something interesting, there'll always be a decently small, yet passionate group of people who will love it and they will stick around to see what I decide to make next. A lot of people disliked that video, but there was also a big spike of around a 1000 or so people who loved the video. They got the joke, they found it funny, maybe they left a comment, gave some of their thoughts or criticisms on what I had to say, and then they moved on. Those are the kinds of people who I want to subscribe to my channel.
While platinum games is great at making action, but they are ass at telling an actual story. Half way through the game I stopped caring about the story.
