Star Fox Adventures is bizarre! It's one of the many Rare games that was actually pretty awful, but I didn't know any better, because I was just a stupid kid when I first played it!
I love the snarky-ass way Tricky says "I could have told you that." It's almost as if he intentionally didn't tell Fox about the Krazoa Shrine just to troll him.
Since I don't have much to add to the video, here's some trivia about Star Fox Adventures back when it was Dinosaur Planet: - The game had two playable characters: Sabre the wolf and Krystal the fox. You switched between the two via the SwapStone at SwapStone Hollow/Circle, which became the WarpStone and ThronTail Hollow, respectively. - Sabre had a sword and Tricky as his partner, while Krystal a staff and Kyte, the SkyRunner princess you see on the ship at the start of the game, where Krystal would have freed her. - Sabre and Krystal were guided by Randorn the Wizard King, father of Sabre and adoptive father of Krystal. He was the one that found the portal to Dinosaur Planet and learned of its plight. He was mortally wounded and remained at Warlock Mountain, which is where the Krazoa Spirits were to be returned. The actual spirits were the Quan Ata Lachu, creator gods worshiped by the nearly extinct Krazoa tribe. Randorn would die at the end of the game unless certain MoonSeeds were planted, where he would be healed and give a reward of some sort. - There was a battle against General Scales, and afterwards the SharpClaw would be disheartened and simply let you into Dragon Rock. In the final game, Scales is not fought, the SharpClaw apparently kill him themselves, and this is done after Dragon Rock rather than before. - Drakor was the one behind General Scales, and was among the last of the legendary Dragon tribe that fought the Krazoa in an ancient apocalyptic war. In the final game, Drakor appears as the boss of Dragon Rock and dies without saying a word. - The leaked story synopsis tells the reader to play the game and find out what happens after Sabre and Drakor fall into Dinosaur Planet's core for the final battle, as the story builds up the mystery of the trustworthiness of the Krazoa and Krystal seeing Sabre die in a vision. According to lead programmer Phil Tossel, the ending was never actually written.
Honestly. If I was Nintendo, I would’ve just Let them Complete the game. And Ask them to Add a Star Fox Cameo or an Easter Egg! But Yeah, After I read this all on Rare Thief’s Site! This Pissed Me Off! Cause it’s Clear Miyamoto Had no Clue how Fucking Hard it is to Develop Games on a TIME LIMIT!
LOVE that you changed “Fox’s” textbox to “fuck this shit” and the other lines. Neat touch and i legit laughed out loud when i realized it. Had to rewind the video because i was like “no way did he change the text to what he’s saying”, your the man
I only subscribed to you 2 days ago knowing you weren’t one to upload super frequently, so it’s cool to see something new so soon Keep up the great work man!
So glad to have found this hidden gem of a channel. Hearing you rant about things i rant about is so cathartic. Edit: i subbed 1 minute into the video 😂
It makes me sad knowing that you only get this many views and subs. You deserve so much more given how much work you out into these. These are some of my favorite videos on RU-vid period.
Man, the whole General Scales / Andross thing has serious Twilight Princess vibes, where Zant is built up as the main antagonist but the the devs just shoehorn Ganondorf in at the last second and he’s really the one pulling the strings and shit.
Bruh I just found your channel and it’s literally a blast from the past how you cover over games and you are fucking hilarious. Please keep making videos. I’m about to watch your whole channel. You’re awesome
You forgot to mention the stupidest thing in this game: The mighty Warpstone of DINOSAUR PLANET cannot warp fucking dinosaurs. That's like idk, 98% of the planet's population that can't make use of its amazing warping powers. THE HELL DO THEY EVEN CALL IT A "WARPSTONE" FOR?!!!
I get the feeling that maybe just maybe we might get a true Dinosaur planet game sometime in the future, to maybe address some lore for SF adv. One can only dream
This video was hilarious. Glad you're posting again worth the wait. I lost it at the andross reaction lol. I think all puzzles in video games should be called some resident evil bullshit from now on
@@Anthony-ku2bb Yeah, this game is a Headache. Recycled Enemies. The Speeder Chases are boring, and one of them goes around in a Big Circle. General Scales can somehow Teleport! Puzzles are A Chore, BackTracking is so Damn frustrating! And Everything is so Damn Repedative! And the worst part is that Krystal isn’t even an Unlockable character or a Skin.
I don't know you guys, but I did enjoy this game, playing as Fox in a Zelda style game? And games back in the day sadly had slow or repetitive back tracking, so yeah, it has not aged well. But I'll keep it as a good memory. 🙌🏻🥰
I enjoy it! The game feels a bit more strategic with the character dice blocks and the minigames are all pretty good. The only problem is that I rarely have people over to play it, so it wasn't really worth buying for me.
What doesn't make sense is that this Backwater Planet out in the Fringes of the Lylat System has the Potential to cause absolute Chaos, Damage, Destruction, and Death throughout an Entire Star System... But in Star Wars, the Loathed Sequel Trilogy, 5 Planets are destroyed by Starkiller Base and the Galaxy is relatively unaffected by it... So how could 1 Backwater Fringe World Destroy an entire Star System? Nobody asks this question and nobody answers it.
Don't know how you even managed to play through the entire thing without getting some fox pussy at the end, I could only manage to get to the first gatekeeper fetch quest before returning the damn thing. Keep up the good work my man, these are great.
22:37 According to early stages of this game Krystal was actuallygoing to join Fox to save the planet but was cut due to the buy out Rare had with Microsoft and they had to rush the game. Literally 2 days after this game came out Rare was now owned by Microsoft. 27:32 General Scales was really wasted in this game. I can't help but be reminded of Grodus from Paper Mario TTYD where he was built up to be the main villain until he gets smited by the Shadow Queen. but at least you fought Grodus. 28:22 Yeah, Andross just comes out of nowhere in this game. There's no foreshadowing what's so ever and he didn't need to be here. Now I'm imagining what if Star Wolf was here. 30:03 I did want Krystal in Smash Bros but not for that reason. I wanted her because she would have a different move set with her staff instead of being a slight copy of Fox like Falco and Wolf are. Overall, Adventures really isn't a Star Fox game. but I don't think it's bad in general. At the very least we had stuff like Assault which was a lot closer to Star Fox. Honestly I think the post 64 games are better than the lame stuff they are doing with Star Fox now.
Yeah, I can imagine adding in the Star Fox stuff really screwed over the developers for this game, because all of that stuff has to be planned WAY FAR IN ADVANCE. Rare being bought out also didn't do them any favors as well, so a lot of the weird stuff in this game was probably due to cutting corners.
@@HyperChargeNintendo should have let Rare just make their original Dinosaur Plant game on the Nintendo 64 before moving onto working with Microsoft. Adding in Starfox into the Dinosaur Plant game is what ruined it.
Me too, I really tried to finish it as a kid, but I gave up around when that random group of dinosaurs were all suddenly gatekeepers and shot the blue magic out of their mouths.
No! NO! Giving Nintendo or Rare any Leeway for this Game only gives them an Excuse! Rare Should’ve Fought to have gotten Dinosaur Planet to be released. It’s just a fucking shame that even after being Bought out by Microsoft, they would still get Folded! Since Microsoft is Backstabbing Asshats!
Its not a very bad Zelda clone, its just not a great Star Fox game and deffinentlly not up to Rare Standard sense they wete going through Microsoft buy out at the time too. SF Assult was a much better GC game that was released a few years later!
The only good thing about Starfox Adventures is the visual graphics and the music soundtrack. Unfortunately, Starfox Adventures is not a good game. It's a poor quality Zelda clone while being a terrible Starfox game at the sametime.
love your videos but I think you're a bit too critical of this game. let me try to get you to consider another perspective. First being inspired by zelda in itself is not a bad thing. People still love banjo kazooie despite being a "mario 64 clone," so I don't think calling this game a zelda clone is inherently bad. In addition, it was way ahead of zelda at the time in many aspects. It had voice acting and zelda only got voice acting with breath of the wild in 2017! The graphics were also phenomenal (easily one of the best looking gamecube games), movement and combat felt way more fluid than zelda, and dinosaur planet was such an awesome unique place. In addition, you gotta give credit for star fox trying something new rather than zelda frankly rehashing the same formula for several games. Even if you wanted more flying mission based gameplay, I don't think that's an inherent negative of the game. Most of your criticism was based on the story not making sense, but you can honestly do that with most nintendo games (i mean star fox 64 is a game about a friggin toad, fox, bird, etc flying around in ships and defeating a friggin big head). Yes the story doesn't make too much sense, but it has heart. If you don't enjoy the interactions between tricky and fox, or the unique locations (even if you're there for a bullshit reason), then you're not approaching the game with an open mind. The game is vastly underrated by star fox fans, and rare really did a solid job with this one. 9.0 from me cause the game was fun and had a lot of heart (and I'm critical as hell).
The game is terrible has a Starfox game that's a poor quality Zelda clone. If you want to play a real Starfox game then play Starfox 64. If you want an adventure game collecting items then just play the Legend of Zelda games.
