Theres nothing in the boots in one of the last frames you can see purple flames similiar to the unknown enemy in the opening of the boot, but nothing inside.

Bayonetta showed us timetravel is possible. The REAL question is WHEN it happened or happens. Is Bayonetta going into the future this time? Bayonetta died before the first game. I'm really unsure when, where and who. Who 'killed' her? When did this happen? Where does it take place?

First Paradiso, then Inferno, and now Purgatorio, seems like a solid theory to me. (Even though the first two games pretty much ended against Paradiso primarily.)
Kinda surprising you forgot to point out: 1. The color scheme is purple. Bayo 1 had a red motif going on, and Bayo 2 had a blue one. Purple is the mix of those colors. 2. There's a theme of splitting going on throughout the trailer. The ribbon, the villains attacks, bayonetta herself, and the logo. 3. Bayonetta is seen bleeding, something umbran witches aren't supposed to be able to do.
Another thing I just thought of that could also prove that the Bayonetta in the trailer isn’t THE Bayonetta is a quote I remembered from Rodin in regards to Jeanne’s death... “Dead Witches get dragged to hell...” If, then, this truly was Bayonetta, and she was killed/died, why did her body have those purple particle effects, as why didn’t the demons come to take her? It’s been shown that the demons that drag people into inferno don’t wait; if they know the people/angels are on the way out, they’ll appear and finish them off. Why didn’t they come for Bayonetta? Because that isn’t Bayonetta - or at least she hasn’t died.
I have noticed at the end of the video with her legs. Her right leg when it kind of Falls you can see a purple line like disappearing like it's like a clone. We don't know too much but I have a feeling that the Bayonetta in this trailer might be a clone of her I don't know that's just my theory because that purple lining it kind of disappears and it kind of makes it seem like she's not real.

My theory is this; That Bayonetta in the trailer is not THE Bayonetta we know and love. Most likely, it’s a copy created with some kind of Gates of Hell type sorcery, or an old Umbra Witches technique. Basically, she’s an illusion. This is why I think the guns have a different name. As an alternate version of Bayonetta herself, it makes sense her guns have a different name. An easy way to tell the two apart to those who know. The real Bayonetta will have Scarborough Fair, and the alternate, this set. Either way, I don’t think Bayonetta will die at all. People want to play this game for her. Platinum aren’t going to scrap of the main character in her self titled game. Maybe my theory is very wrong, and at one point she does get killed and has to do a Jeanne in hell, but actually escape herself, but we’ll still be playing as Bayonetta for the most part. There’d be outcry if not. Though one thing I’d be very surprised if we don’t see, is something like a side story for Jeanne. Kamiya has stated he wants to do something with Jeanne in the past, so maybe we’ll get a side story where we can play as Jeanne, either not related to the plot, or in a story that intertwines itself into this story, or past games.

Another good example is Devil May Cry 4.
Someone also pointed out that she is missing her mole under her lip. This is important because according to the lore, Witch's gain a mole when a significant experience happens to them. This could be a prequel but since Bayonetta games deal with time travel, it's most likely a sequel.

Snek if you pause at the right time (3:28ish) and look closely, you'll see her legs are still attached to her torso. It's just that she's been split in half so you only see one half of the torso on either leg.
Protocol Infinity Bexause the other publishers won’t support them, Sony turned down Bayo 2 and 3, and Microsoft cancelled Scalebound. Nintendo is the only publisher that wholeheartedly supports Platinum and their the only reason Bayonetta even continued after 1.
Son of a Glitch they’re not being greedy, Sony and Microsoft should’ve rejected the 2nd game in the first place, the second and third game wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for Nintendo. If Sony and Microsoft never rejected it, the second and third would’ve been on other consoles.
Spoiler! Here’s my theory! In bayo 2 we learned that the timeline keeps on repeating itself like a never ending loop where after we defeat father bolder, he teleports back in time and it keeps on repeating the events that occurred in bayo 1 leading to bayo 2, so my theory is what if this loop in time caused bolder to overgrow in power and be taken over and somehow l the old bayo teams up with the current bayo in an all out battle to end the time loop they’re stuck in, i mean we did see in bayo 2 when she went back in time to her mothers time and then she and bolder escaped back to the future and the camera moved down and we saw the events of bayo 1 where bayonetta finds her mother dead. So that basically confirms the loop in time.
Alex Torres Not a loop because it shows Balder dying to keep Aesir trapped on the first cutscene, Bayo 2 was more to show that Balder was a tragic hero.
Balder is stuck, he dies along with that being in Bayonneta 1, the circumstances for it was set up in Bayonneta 2. It isn't a loop as there is a definite end and Bayonneta isn't stuck.
It's not specifically showing things in pairs, it's showing things splitting. Somethings going to happen with Bayonetta which splits her in two, metaphorically, or physically.
I wonder which moon related song is gonna be the thematic core of the song. Fly Me To the Moon emphasized the playful wistfulness Bayonetta had in the first game searching for who she was, and Moon River showed the importance Jeanne had to Bayonetta (and arguably Bayonetta to Balder) in the second game. What's gonna be this game's song? My best guess would be (On) Moonlight Bay. A song of lost love for our potential lost protagonist? It could work.

For me that is a nightmare, or some kind of memory. What I suppose is that the two lines of time, bayonetta 1 and 2, are going to be mixed, that is why it gives rise to separations. Another thing if you mix the logos of bayonneta 1 (red) and Bayonetta 2 (blue) gives as a purple color that is the new color of Bayonetta 3.
Bayonetta Stuff cool guess! I potentially see an alternative timeline plot as well in this occasion. Time travel was already treated on the series and I don't see why she would come back to the old look. I'm sooo excited I want to know more!! Many options, all of them looking good!
I don't think that would be the case here. There was supposed to be something that was to happen when Bayonneta was born, as her father was a lumin sage and her mother was an umbra witch. Something about calamity happening? We might be seeing said calamity happen in this game.
Here's a bit of speculation: In Bayo 1, we fight Jubileus the Creator, a diety of light and angels. In Bayo 2, we fight Aesir the Overseer, a diety of chaos and humans. If they continue to follow this pattern, in Bayo 3 we should be fighting a diety of darkness and demons, possibly even Queen Sheba. This is further supported by the enemy in the teaser being engulfed in flame, which fits with the realm of darkness being called Inferno. If Bayonetta does die in Bayo 3, and we are fighting a being from Inferno, this may mean we get to be a Lumen Sage for part of the game. Edit: If the enemy does have a crown, perhaps he is a counterpart to Queen Sheba; a King or Prince of Inferno.

When I first watched this, I noticed that her right leg has purple like pixels that seem to eat up the leg. What if this game is about Bayonetta when she was still in her Tomb. She wasn’t getting beaten up, but suffering from the ghost of Aseir. This makes sense to me because its almost like it’s the Bayonetta that saw Rosa die in Bayo 2. Or the Cereza that we saved in Bayo 1. I feel like it has a potential to be one of them

Because i personally believe it was Aesir, or a form of Aesir, that traveled through her when Balder was ‘potentially corrupted’ by him. It made sense to me; how did balder know when to send the present day Bayonetta to save past Cereza without having Cereza age during the awakening itself. It might not make sense, but it does in my head. Im not good at writing tho :/

or the blast that hit her stomach affected her slowly and her stomach started to fade into fire and her feet simply, left with nothing to support, split away.
My theory on the matter: Basically, Bayonetta has split herself into two entities. One for the right eye and the other for the left eye, we could see the main story and game mechanics revolve around switching between her light and dark side and maybe as a whole of both sides as she is now. The major case that shows this could be a possibility is her gems on her guns at 0:16, where you can see that one is a dark purple color that could represent darkness, and the other is a bright yellow color that could represent light. Other pieces of evidence is how both her legs fall in different directions when she falls, the split of her hair ribbon during the beginning of the teaser, how her guns bounce together to show as a symbol of duality, and the split of the Umbran Witch symbol into two near the end of the teaser.

One thing though... balder’s dead... so no right eye... unless it’s a sequel to bayo 2 And aiser (or whoever the heck this villain is) recreates the right eye and left eye and implants them both into bayo in her sleep(and if it is the villain who did this, he could possibly be trying to destroy the eyes with no repair since he is more than likely the ONLY one to ether recreate or summon them but they can’t be completely destroyed by normal means. Which could be why he implanted the eyes in bayo.)

She is half lumin sage and they really didn't want that happening as everything would end, forcing the two clans to hunt each other to extinction, and the devil himself might have come out to play.
Well perhaps something happens in the story that makes both eyes come back to existance and Bayonetta inherits both? Maybe this takes place before the 2nd game and she somehow inherits both eyes during that time(This could explain why she has her outfit from the 1st game)? Who fully knows, it's just mere speculation at this point, but it would be interesting if splitting into light and dark entities does happen.
My Theory (if that really is Bayonetta in the trailer): At the end of Bayonetta 1, Balder and little Cereza become one and we see her head sticking out from his chest during the battle. As we know from Bayonetta 2, Balder was actually possessed by Loptr at this point and therefore Balder, Loptr and Cereza are sharing one body, is it possible that when little Cereza was put back in her time and grew up to be strong and brave, that she copies her future self’s looks just as they were when they met in Bayonetta 1 and now has a part of Loptr within her?

I feel like the fact that she's wearing her old look and that there were only minor chages to scarborough fair means that we may be looking into parallel universes. I think its possible with all the wacky time traveling they've been doing for the last 2 games.
Usah Knights Alternate timeline can definitely be a thing especially since there are a lot of small little time rules Bayo and the rest of the characters break.

You're missing the core motif: Splitting in half. Numerous shots are of things tearing/shearing/breaking in half. The ribbon tears in half. Parsley & Sage slide along each other to form her sigil then it's broken apart by the enemy's attack. The enemy attacks her, ending in a flash of light that splits down the center. And finally, Bayonetta's entire body is split in half, not just her legs. Oh, and the moon is broken in half as well. These aren't coincidences. Bayonetta is getting split in half for sure, even if only metaphorically.
So I played this back in slow slow mode ( the part when she falls) and I found that along with her right leg game the right side of her body! So that would mean that she was literally split in half😲
I know this may sound cliché but maybe the third game involves time travel. I know the second game had bits of time travel with Bayonetta and other characters but what if this is about saving the past version of Bayonetta from getting killed by who ever the our mystery villain is?
i have 2 theories 1. the villain is connected to rodin (this part comes from gamefaqs poster Fenrir-Juubi) do to the purple fire which is connected to rodin thoe said game faqs poster thinks the villain is rodin i cant see that so i put my own spin on his theory this is rodin's son rodin is basically the devil for bayonetta and if this is a end of the world story in the bible that is said to come from the anti christ the son of the devil heck the crown you noted is similar to the idea of the dragon of revelations and its many crowns 2. i think if bayo is dead the first half of the game will be her escaping hell to return to life and maybe jeanee will have her own playable sections that has to do with reviving bayonetta
I really hope 3 has a completely new outfit and that this is just something like a flashback or time travel. Because having a video game character changes outfit in each game would be greatly appreciated!
Uh, that last part isn't brutal. She clearly disappears or disintigrates, she doesn't get ripped apart. As for the red moon, I don't think it signifies a blood moon. I think this game is about Bayonetta's death or her escape from it. Of course, it is a Bayonetta game so no doubt you will be mostly playing as her.
Nessmain 127 Even in that case I think it'll only be in about half the chapters at best, but probably just a handful. If Bayonetta dies or is dead when the game begins, it might be half the game. If she dies in the game, probably just a few chapters. She is the title character, after all. Going by how she looked though, it's likely an early event in the game. Perhaps it's a past version of herself that dies. The new theme colour of the game is purple and I fully expect her new look and weapons to tie into that. Of course, this still just speculation based on how Platinum has tackled game design on the previous Bayonetta games. I don't expect it to be a prequel, but I wouldn't be surprised if the star is a younger version of Bayonetta (and I honestly wouldn't mind it either).
With the Scarborough Fair guns, its not the first time she’s gained simular guns with different names, if im correct, in the movie “Bayonetta Bloody Fate” her guns are called “Elfin Knight”
The eyes don't give power to humans, only to Aesir as he is the one that created them, Bayo and Balder could still fight and had their powers intact even after their eyes were taken away from them. If Bayo looses the left eye, it means nothing, here powers will remain the exact same.
I honestly thought it would go this way because in the second game they kind of explain this. in the first Bayonetta she fights off jubilieus ( lol can't spell it's name) who I believe is the god or overseer of Paradiso, then in Bayonetta 2 she fights off Aseir who I believe is the god of the chaos realm or Earth. But I don't believe they said anything or showed anything of the god or overseer of Inferno. and since she is an umbra witch who align themselves with darkness the guy with the purple Flames could be the god of Inferno. That's my theory XD.
2 years, 2 months and 14 days and not even a single screenshot, concept art or even a rough release date. For a game thats development is going "smoothly" we sure aren't getting any teases. If Platinum didn't keep bringing it up I'd of guessed it had been cancelled.
since the other two games dealt with time travel. this could be an attack on weaker, past version of bayonetta in an attempt to just erase her before she can stop this new villain. maybe thats why she is in her old outfit. but if she does die , then we could play as jeanne to save her this time.
the only other detail i noticed is the purple particle effect when the legs seperate. it doesnt seem like shes dying, but as if shes literally splitting into two when she collapses. I wonder if theres a mechanic in this mode where she can literally split into two different bayonettas?

If Bayonetta really dies and isn't the main character of the 3rd game then I don't really seen myself buying it... She's one of my favourite characters of all time and hands down my favourite action game of all time. And I liked her best in the 1st game because I feel like she lost a bit of her sassy attitude in the 2nd maybe due to the Nintendo exclusiveness? Also music was way better and more climactic in the 1st 😊
One thing to note is that when Bayonetta falls, she isn't dragged into inferno by demon arms, her body seems to disintegrate instead. That may indicate that she isn't dead...
i noticed that she still has one ribbon in her hair rather than two. this was obviously because she gave little cereza one of her ribbons so she could tie it to her watch and put it around her neck. so im assuming its either before bayonetta 2 or she just decided to go back to her original style but she only has one ribbon for her hair. OR the ribbon that ripped in 2 at the start meant that little cereza was killed. or she got another one and it just fell off when she was fighting, tbh that might be it nvm
OMG!! Just before Bay o colapses , you can see the figure looks as if it is wearing robes, and has either a thick, rope-like item or whole around his neck. This could be compared to Balder's robe and peacock!
i think bayonetta is facing off something even more brutal... she killed Jaune's mistress infernal AND returned Jaune's soul from Hell, teamed up with a Lumen Sage to kill a bunch of infernals, helped reawaken the true God of creation (Aesir/Loki)... Lets just say she is beyond screwed... and not in the erotic way she may wants...
WAIT, IF YOU REMEMBER THE ENDING TO BAYONETTA TWO, remember how Aesir's spirit got stuck in Balder's body, after you go through the credits, it show's Balder floating in the air and we get a close of him putting on his mask from the first game and then teleports. Maybe when he teleports, he goes back in time with Aesir's spirit and begins anew. OMG, BEFORE HE GETS STUCK IN BALDER'S BODY, HE SAID SOMETHING ABOUT BEGINNING ANEW. 🤯🤯. I blew my own mind
I think that's not the real Bayonetta. That's why she's using the design from the first game and is sliced into parts in the end of the trailer. It's almost as if she is some kind of creation, or robot.
I think the reason they put her in the first game outfit is that they aren't ready to show off her new outfit yet. But they teased the new gun name and a new gun name, Savoury. But they aren't ready to show off anything else.
People speculate that it was Rodin who killed Bayonetta but never stopped to consider either one of these possibilities; One is that the Bayonetta is a demon impersonating her or, Two just as it may be a Bayonetta from an alternate Timeline, The purple figure could be Rodin from an alternate timeline where he kept his Angel AND Demon powers and learned to merge them. The reason that he could be beating Bayonetta is the same reason that Loptr was shrugging off everything when he nearly had all of Aesir's powers and she had Baldur helping her for a good chunk of that fight. Rodin was said to be the strongest angel, second only to Jubileus when he was cast out into Inferno and gained his demonic powers meaning that combining both sides would make him stronger than Jubileus and Sheba individually and nearly as strong as Aesir at nearly his full power meaning that Bayonetta wouldn't stand a chance against him alone. The only reason that she beat Aesir was with the help of Baldur (who fought by her side and helped her summon Omne) and Loki(Who destroyed the Eyes of the World stripping Aesir of most of his power).
I hope you guys noticed but Bayonetta has a moderate cut on the top of her face and it can be seen dripping blood down her face, and what looks like either more blood or just dirt mark on her left side as well. Its only really viewable during those quick flashes as she fires her guns.
Not gonna lie, I'm very surprised Bayonetta 3 is Switch exclusive. Does this mean Platinum Games could become second party someday? I honestly hope not.
Not surprising, Bayo 2 was Nintendo-exclusive due to the big N swooping in and saving the project at the last minute. You can bet that they put their hooks in Platinum and Sega back then to ensure that the series remains exclusive.
No I got a feeling they like there freedom and its more profitable doing what there doing now. Although I do see them having a good relationship with Nintendo for a long time especially after the bullshit Microsoft pulled so if there will be any Console exclusives pretty sure its Nintendo that will get them..

Like I said, Nintendo probably made them sign a contract stipulating that the series would be Nintendo exclusive in exchange for the resources needed to finish Bayo 2. I doubt Ninty would've done it otherwise. Platinum had to choose between Bayo going Nintendo exclusive or dying.
My money's on a parallel universe. The Bay we see here is not our Bay, but a different one entirely that is killed during the course of the first game. I'm also gonna say that the purple figure is probably Rodin, restored to his full form.
Purple like being with a crown on it’s head... all I can think of is the skull creature on Gomorroah’s head, as he has the same (maybe) facial features. This is probably AU where the skull creature isn’t confirmed to the giant monster OF Gomorrah...
@GameXplain From the looks of it all, id say she could have been torn in two. Theres multiple points in the trailer where things are put into two halves. Her ribbon, the purple guy's attack splits the screen and two, her legs seemingly fall as if separated, and more so the logo emblem is in two parts. Now yes the logo crack forms the 3, but still makes it become 2 parts... Im not sure what this could mean....perhaps it may explain the outfit changes from 1 and 2, perhaps we'll have two bayonettas? one in each costume? perhaps her soul is separated from her body, and one is down in hell and the other in heaven, or earth, or heck maybe it splits her personality, to have a more demonic and angelic interpretations of her that all in all maybe jeanne or luca and others have to piece back together some how? -Playing as others was pseudo introduced in the 2nd games co-op like mode plus jeanne has been accessible in both games....so maybe theres something here, but we'll have to just wait and see!
I've red Bayonetta books and know about the lore. Rodan named her Bayonetta after finding her in a casket at the bottom of a lake and gave her a replacement gun. Luca's father was also ripped in half at the site where Bayonetta was brought back to life. It seams that this how she ended up at the bottom of the lake.
It's a really mysterious teaser. With everything that was analyzed from the teaser, there's something that you can perceive in many moments and that's the separation of "things" in two "pieces". First, Bayonetta's ribbon, which is separated in two. Then, the enemy separates in two when he releases the attack. Then, Bayonetta's legs got separated and finally, the Umbra emblem got separated by the 3 mark.
Maybe someone will try to kill Bayonetta before she awakens her Left Eye and becomes strong enough to summon Sheba/Omne. I think the fire figure that "killed" her could be Rodin.
