Back in Bayside this week where we look at a newer model E6 Acco that was added to the Bayside fleet at the beginning of this year. Earlier this week I got down to Bayside to capture a couple of trucks on film emptying the old Brickwood and Dark Green bin combinations before they are all replaced with Black bodied/red lid bins in September time. I also hadn't done a visit down there ever since they did a bit of a fleet shuffle with the trucks about a good 6 years ago. All the single axles were slowly phased out and replaced by newer 6x4 E5 Accos, this was due to the trucks no longer tipping off at Clayton due to the tip closing down and the trucks had to travel out to Melbourne Regional Landfill or otherwise known as MRL, Ravenhall and Christies Road. So this meant the need for bigger trucks. Since that though there has been a few more trucks added into the Bayside Garbage fleet and #3119 was one of them.
These later model E6 Accos have been set up pretty good from what I've heard and aren't as sluggish as the early model ones. Personally I'm not a huge fan of them and would rather take a Cummins/Allison auto combo over these but I would been keen to give ones like this one a go seeing the gearbox has been set up really good in it.
Shame the Brickwood bins are on their way out as they are a great quality Australian made bin that can outlast a lot of these newer bins that are made today. You know it is a good quality bin even if someone without the knowledge of bins will look at it and say yep that's a strong bin as I have witnessed this myself. The Brickwood bins have always been a signature thing for Bayside and it's good to see they stuck with them right up until a few years ago when they stopped being made.
Cheers to the awesome driver for letting me film. Hope he sees the video as he was keen as to be filmed. Enjoy!!! ;) ;) ;)
