This is when Saturday night TV was good, my family and I sat in the living room watching Doctor who and the Generation Game, the memorable Brucie pose, I got my Nana to do exactly the same pose as I drawed a picture of her, great days!
I remember the Generation Game well with Bruce Forsyth and then Larry Grayson. Here I would have been seven and a half in my first year at junior school!
Ah, the nostalgia! ... "Doctor Who" followed by "The Generation Game" ... Both broadcast from analogue 2" Quad Videotape, unlike today's Digital TV, which is played out from a file on a server!
I remember this well the week before both BBC Channels were taken off the air [As the unions went on strike] over the then Labour goverment pay order. BBC 1 and 2 came back on the air after two hours with a service run by mangement, which included no SlLOW MOTION REPLYS on the week"s Match of the Day 7 days before.. It wasn"t all wonderfull i the 1970"s 50 year old disabled carrer. GOD BLESS!
Excellent! Been looking for enough linking material to recreate a BBC1 Saturday evening of the 70s for a long time.. I am also after original 70s BBC1 continuity linking into The Basil Brush Show as well, Match of the Day, Upstairs, Downstairs - & probably Parkinson - all continuities to recreate a 70s Saturday night on the BBC for the same night would be great if I could locate them... Do you have that complete Generation Game edition too..?
