I worked for a Home care company based in Leeds. All the staff were told, if you have to go into the building Jimmy Saville lives in, don’t get in the lift with him. Everyone in Leeds knew what he was like, but it was still the days when you just avoided those sort of people. A family friend worked for the BBC & she told my mum in the early 80’s that Jimmy Saville used to get young boys to “sit on his lap”. It seems the BBC knew about this but staff such as the family friend were powerless to do anything. The family friend died in the 90’s but my mum was still alive when we heard the news & watched documentaries on him. It was mum that told me about the family friend & Saville. Mum was speechless & we both knew the family friend wouldn’t have made this up.

When Saville died, I remember saying to my dad, why didn't anyone come forward and report him, not wait until he died? My dad's response was; "people knew about him back in the 1950s. Nobody came forward as he had money which meant he could afford the best lawyers and they would rip the accusers to pieces." my dad also went on to say, "he wanted a wooden steering wheel in his Rolls Royce. Saville was told by Rolls Royce that they didn't fit a wooden steering wheel to their cars. Saville got Rolls Royce to fit a wooden steering wheel to his Roller. He had money and money talks."
One guy l know in his 50s has since told me that he used to watch jim'll fix it as a little boy. But his parents always refused to ever let him go on the show. Because they had always found savile's appearance and behaviour on television suspicous...how right they were....l myself had always thought whilst he was alive that savile looked like a weirdo
They did come forward but they didn't want to give witness statements in court because the police made it out like they were the only witnesses. None wanted to stand alone facing Savile. So no witnesses, no prosecution.
@@adama-k2710 and his top lawyers would ripped the children apart. The only good thing with him dead is that he can no longer abuse any more children. I would loved to see him jailed for life without parole for what he's done.

Saville was so powerful and worth so much to the BBC that he could do anything thing he wanted and no one could touch him. Though he touched any one HE wanted.......
Your dad had a narrow escape there. People knew about savile even then. One guy l know told me he could never understand why his parents would'nt let him go on jim'll fix it as a young teen. And told me afterwards...Now he knows why...
Ignore the click bait. Lydon wasn't banned by the BBC. He appeared after the Saville interview several times on Top of the Pops, Old Grey Whistle Test, Juke Box Jury, did several interviews on BBC Radio 1, recently appeared in a Sex Pistols Christmas special etc, etc etc.
Lydon had the honesty of a child, in his music and his life. I've not always been a fan but the man has principles and showed them when the BBC clearly had and still have none!
