Richard Bonynge paid tribute to the late Dmitri Hvorostovsky before presenting the #CardiffSinger 2019 Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Prize - in his honour - to Katie Bray, the 32 year old mezzo from England.
Dame Kiri Te Kanawa presented the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2019 Main Prize to Andrei Kymach, the 31 year old baritone from the Ukraine.

The world is a darker place without Dimitri. He and his beautiful family are always in our hearts, and he still fills our home with his voice very day. Among the most beautiful voices ever to emerge from a human being....

A very beautiful speech by Richard Bonynge. He and Dame Kiri did some great work together - her first Violetta (in Sydney), and her participation in his edition of The Beggars Opera. She also sings the tiny role of Countess Ceprano on the historic Rigoletto with Dame Joan, Milnes, and Pavarotti.
