McLaren had two more wins than Williams for the drivers' championship through the 80's: in 84, 85, 86, 88, 89, while Williams only had 81, 83, and 86. Brabham had the other two for 80-89.

@SuperInline6 It wouldn't even get close to 18K, pneumatic springs are required around 14K i think.

Honda managed 22k in 1959 with conventional springs

@@thegregdavieschannel with very small displacement motorcycle engines, it has to be said. It’s much easier when the engine is very small. I own a 250cc 4-cylinder Honda motorcycle which has the limiter set at 17K, but they also made a version of that engine that revved to 20K.

today's f-1 engines uses pnumatic return prings, because convencional metal springs are useless at 18.000 rpm
