Love the 90's throwback. Reminds me of the terrible news my dad got one night, his stolen car had been found and the bastards had NOT done the decent thing and set fire to it. It was an Austin Maestro 1.3 L. The locks were fixed and he had to keep driving it for a couple more years until he could PX it for a Peugeot 405. The guy at the dealership said it must be a decent example because the Maestro had managed the 60 mile drive to the showroom.
A shame he traded in a Good Car for a rubbish one, typical Peugeot Dealership man, knocks a Good Austin Maestro but a Peugeot 405 is 💩 like most French Cars. I’d take the Interesting Austin Maestro anyday over an awful French Car. So if a Maestro can make it 60 miles apparently it’s a great example then what’s that for a Peugeot 405 or most French Cars to make it a great example for it take make 20 miles. It would be better if they set Fire to most French Cars and Audis and BMWs to rid the world of truly awful cars.
@@Rover75ConnoisseurSE I've got a 205 GTI that's 31 years old and also a Clio 182. Both great cars, that work fine, have done over 120,000 in the Clio and have been very reliable. I don't hate Rover products etc, but that Maestro was particularly bad. I still attend Pride of Longbridge and love the motors there...(especially 2.0 EFI and Turbo Maestro) but to say a Maestro is better than a 405? Come on! It also was not a Peugeot Dealership but a Midlands based generic used car showroom.
@@64bakes I love old motors and I'll always have a soft spot for the Maestro but that 1.3L was not a good car. The MK2 Astra we also had at the time was considerably better and lasted quite a bit longer too!
So raw and absolutely the closest thing to the Sweeney of the 1970's. Best series ever made of its sort here in the UK or USA. Plain, straight and brutal. Nice format. Unbeatable. My sweety had a red nova 2 door 993 cc not a fast car by today's modern cars but still a desirable car now especially. On eBay had Sr seats alloy's etc sold it to a yobbo who ragged it around lol reg was e29 lul

This was the best of all the uk cop car type shows......old skool chases and no daft dramatical music dubbed on like toda ys shows... Cosworths Cavalier turbos Rover 420gsi turbos Rs escorts Fastest 90s metal...... Would love a modern x wars show as the speeds will now be higher.
Shame the silver X Unit Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth in Silver registration K257 JCA is SORN but is still MOT'd I presume it's used as a show car cause it is an unusual Police Car, hopefully still left with the blue flashers wig wag headlights and the old Dennis fire engine like siren
I imagine it would have been decommissioned, police equipment removed and most likely sold off when newer generation service cars and replacement stock were brought in.
It belongs to a lad in Telford who belongs to the owners club that I belong to. Your be glad to know it's in mint condition although it's currently off the road in storage.

That car must have had a hard life. Bouncing over kerbs and down back lanes , being crashed into. Good to hear it’s still running, must have had some serious love by now to keep it nice
When he chased the nova in to harkness street, only round the corner from the Apollo theater, loads of famous bands play there, my friend works there sometimes as security, sad to see them big old houses demolished now on harkness street. but this is the modern council for you, they can't wait to get their hands on old historic places and smash them down to build these cheap, modern, gopping buildings. they've done it all over manchester.
+energymc22 Have to bump start them doing that method. It's possible to back barrel the old Nova's etc without removing the ignition cowl. A more noisy / professional approach, most car thief's just use big zip tie's to put the ignition cowl back on when they plate up the older cars that have been barrelled.
Doubt it on that one, as it wasn't a face-lift model. They're the ones that had the hazard switch (on top of the dash centre) that could be turned over to get ignition. I had one when I was a kid, though it was myth, tried it and it bloody well worked! Couldn't believe it.

He couldn't have imagined that some 20 years later cars would have such stupid blingy "anti-theft" systems that anybody with a bluetooth code cracking device could steal the most expensive ones on the market without breaking a sweat. Keyless bullshit. Give me a good sturdy and complicated lock over any imobilizer and keyless system, any day.

@@julianpotentate5942 Wow that is sad to hear, i wasn't expecting him to have died that long ago, i bet he wasn't even that old when he died, my cousin died in one of those bed and breakfast places years ago, there was one called nutty norman's, and i think there was another next door called jeans ? they were on hyde rd, on the left just as you come off the roundabout past the apollo, he died of an heroin overdose, the 2 people that was with him just left him and ran out.
When John Nettles says that James Young got 4 months in jail, somewhere on here there is another video from this episode which only has the last car chase from this episode. On the other video, he says the driver James Young received a 4 month prison sentence.
