Don't forget insulting their own viewers, biased news, woke idealogy and not caring what their customers want. Yep, no wonder millions of people have stopped watching and more importantly, stopped paying.
@nonoyorbusness the fact that Dragon's Den, Sort Your Life Out & The Apprentice are considered to be big audience programmes on BBC ONE (sic) only underlines how shite the BBC have really become
I still listen to their crap and i can tell you it’s getting crappier every day. As for the older people, well we’ve already seen it all so why pay to watch the same old, same old, repeated again and again?
Thats the BBC management being their usual pompous selves, they think that they know best all of the time, I used to listen to Radio 2 but even that is a load of crap now, I'm afraid rap & hip hop music dosen't do it for me, even Radio 2 is now being aimed at younger audiences along with the four Radio 1 stations and 6 Music, the balance of their output is now way too biased towards catering for younger people.
The big danger now, with more and more people cancelling their TV licences, is that the BBC will receive its funding out of general taxation, then nobody will have the choice to not pay for something they do not want.
I just cancelled my DD last year as I needed to reduce my outgoings. I have had numerous letters requesting payment and despite me "returning to sender" with a not needed, 2 weeks ago an "enforcement officer" turned up. I just told him not needed and I'd informed them already. He went away............😊
@@elizabethyoung4900 They'll be back. They have a 'box-ticking' procedure which, if not followed, will allow them to use taxpayers money to sue anyone not paying them.
I never watch BBC, anything. Nothing, Nil. Don’t watch rubbish, don’t watch biased news TV. The BBC can close tomorrow. I hope it does! I really do hope it does!!!
@patmays7344 if you had said to anyone 40-50 ago that people would no longer bother with the BBC in the 21st century, they would've laughed at you & disagreed....how times have changed indeed !
I cancelled my direct debit.. cancelled my bbc iplayer.. no contact in 2 months .. I'll keep you informed.. I haven't watched mainstream media for a very long time..thank you for your support 👍💪
@MultiBikerboy1 lots of non establishment interests.. One of those things that is the same as an mot in life.. Long time coming.. The tied will turn.. Together a strong race. Divide and conquer... Will end in tears..
@@chriswoodrow3586 why would I be that? Cancelled my licence 4 years ago. Don’t watch live T.V. or any of their rubbish. So much to watch for free on catch up and you tube. 🧐
Forget the BBC ever going commercial. They don't want to. They much prefer their funding handed to them on a plate and no government would ever allow it. The big danger now, with more and more people cancelling their TV licences, is that the BBC will receive its funding out of general taxation, then nobody will have the choice to not pay for something they do not want.
Iv not watched a BBC program in 12 years :) and will do the same for the rest of my life..am not missing a thing. BBC should be shut down..would be better for everyone :)
The other day my neighbors was complaining about the TV 📺 license prices to be honest they were giving me a headache I told them instead of complaining just cancel your tv 📺 License don’t pay it like I have since 2014 or 2015 this morning both of my neighbors canceled they TV License and direct debits I was proud of them
My late mother had Virgin Sport to watch the footie and cricket. When the low intelligence footballers (I used to work at a premier league club and the saying was “Their brains are in their feet.” started all the kneeling shite, she had me call Virgin and cancel the sports package. I was asked why it was being cancelled, so told the young woman. She replied “We’ve been having a lot of calls over the past few days cancelling the sports package. The bosses are getting worried.” My reply “Don’t show it then.”
You go to the newsagent ask for a Daily Mirror, the guy in the shop says "You can but you have to also pay for a copy of The Times". Would you not think that odd? The licence fee makes no sense in the modern media landscape.
Never understood why we have to pay the BBC a fee to watch any program broadcasted. They have no influence over Sky or ITV etc. not watched a program on any BBC channel for over 5 years. Stopped watching broadcast live tv for the same time and have had 4 goon visits in that time. All get told no thanks and the door shut.
@@MikeEveswhy are they mugs if they watch bbc then they pay if you don’t then you don’t pay not every body doesn’t want to stop watching the BBC so they pay it’s up to them not mugs
The director of the BBC, Tim Davie, is a Conservative. I'd say it's very much a mouthpiece for the government. It's pro-royalist to the extreme. Anti-Scottish Independence. It's coverage of the Gaza conflict is very pro-Israel.
Back in 2012, a study from Cardiff University, found that appearances by the then Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron outnumbered those of then Leader of the Opposition, Ed Miliband, by a ratio of over three to one (53 to 15). Not as simple as it seems.
If "everybody uses the BBC" then he should have no objection to going over to a subscription service like Netflix. If the BBC and politicians are right about it being a "beloved national institution" then everyone will subscribe wont they 😂😂
My mum just passed recently, and has been paying for this garbage for 40+ years. I cant wait to deploy the cancellation notice online. All she watched was GB News in the later months, but she was afraid to cancel it because she was of the older generation. I will happily do it for her in her honour.
Instead of Davie telling us what great value the BBC is why the Hell can't we decide for ourselves by abolishing the licence fee and switching to a subscription and/or advertising model?
I had a letter last week with a window on the front saying’ will you be in on the 5th April’. I am returning the envelope unopened. Hope they turn up as I will be living at my other home also tv licence free.
They are un-accountable. When they were caught repeating Hamas propaganda, they were not even embarrassed about it. A flat refusal to apologise is all we got.
Tim Davey is not out of touch. He wants the BBC to keep receiving over £3b per year on top of the advertising revenue they get, later placing the same programming on commercial channels. So in effect they are being gifted over £3b pocket change each year
lol don’t even engage with questions. I’m not explaining myself to a sales man. Imagine Tesco sending you intimidating letters and knocking your door to ask why you’re not shopping there anymore 😄
they shouldn't call it a tv license if they charge you and you don't have a tv. It should be called a bbc subscription, and if you don't watch bbc channels, there should be no fee, seeing as how you are not consuming media which is being paid for by the license. That is the definition of a scam. charging for a service you don't use.
Thank you , they should make it clear. I haven’t needed a TV licence for years but didn’t even realise I didn’t , or could have just quit watching 1 thing that was rubbish anyway. And certainly not worth the price I was paying for it . Make it clear BBC and stop sending me shit letters
Well yes, 'the public' own it in that it is a wholly owned subsidiary of the BBC. How the two halves of the BBC interact financially and legally is still a good question.
@@timg1246 UKTV is a British multi-channel broadcaster, wholly owned by BBC Studios. It was formed in November 1992 through a joint venture between the BBC and Thames Television with the launch of the UK Gold channel....they do show stuff in the UK with adverts.
Jon, I’ve asked before and I’m asking again….If the BBC are raking in 3.7 billion a year from licence payers and there are thousands of people dumping the licence why isn’t their revenue going down ??? BTW I dumped my licence along with my neighbour from January 1st this year .
From what they say it is going down yes, the more it goes down, the more price rises they will say they need. the higher the price goes, the more people will cancel
BBC were selling TV shows, dvds etc... BBC should have subcription to live shows etc and licence fee stopped. How much does Government receive in tax from 4 billion licence fees?
How has this not been abolished ? Its absolutely infuriating!!! 2024 and still paying this. I hope it gets deemed illegal one day everyone thats paid gets 20 years money back with interest !
Can't see how difficult it is to take this to a public vote I'm damn sure the public will say no more tv licence fee I'd dare bet most people only pay because they are to frightened of the secret prosecution process no defence allowed its absolutely disgusting our own goverment and justice system carry on like this
I paid a year in advance 2 in 1 years ago when am I going to get back never are they going to throw a cheque into my coffin after I've died scrap the TV licence and take adverts it's how channel 4 has survived for all these years
I stopped paying the BBC tax 15 years ago. There is nothing on this antiquated dinosaur that I want to watch or listen to. The BBC has had its time and that time is over. We don't need it anymore.
In 2 months I will have been Licence free for a year....🎉🎉🎊. My son recommended this channel because i wouldnt listen to sense from him and Jon convinced me. I've binned the threatening letters and done 1 NO THANK YOU....SLAM. So glad I cancelled, neither want or need the BBC tax. 👍👍👍👍
Cancel the rubbish bbc turn them off And save FIRST YEAR £169.50 , SECOND YEAR £339.00 , THIRD YEAR £508.50 , FOURTH YEAR £678 , FIFTH YEAR £847 SIXTH YEAR £1,O17 Have yourself a nice little holiday City break some where
I think the main problem is that 'back in the day', you needed a TV license to own or operate equipment capable of receiving broadcast signals. When the need to have a license to have or use the equipment was done away with, so no license was needed to own or operate a TV (or radio), the BBC have just carried it on. That's how they get away with it.
In order to save themselves, the BBC seem only to have one play left open to them : To put the licence onto taxation, probably income tax. Unfortunately, it will be the spend spend spend Labour Party making the decision. The more households abandoning the BBC before 2027 the better. It will push the base line for budgets down for any post-licence arrangement. So keep getting the message out, that it is all smoke and mirrors. You don't have to pay.
These days with digital broadcasting, it become even easier to implement a scrambled service to enable subscription services. Also, why have the headquarters in central London - it doesn't have to be there either... If you must have a big building, have it somewhere cheaper away from the expensive capital city.
So why are they waiting until next year to have the so called consultation ? It's obvious why... the closer they can get to 2027 and the end of the current charter the better for them, they will just ohh dear, we haven't got enough time now to make any changes now, we'll have to continue with the licence fee.. 🙄
I stopped paying for the licence once I discovered this channel. I don’t want them to scrap it now I’ve stopped paying, in case they add it to a tax I can’t avoid.😂
Thanks for speaking out, consistently. Do you remember Sainsbury's pushing TV license forms at POS when selling a new TV? Staff were disciplined for not making customers fill these out before handing over a new TV to the purchaser, passing details to TV licensing of people who bought a TV without knowing the purpose of the device.
How can you spend 3.5 billion pounds of licence fees every year?! £50,000 (very good gross salary) for their 21,000 employees, including all part timers and everyone from cleaners to newsreaders amounts to just over a billion pounds. What are they spending the other two and a half billions?!
value for money, what a load of BS. They have now stopped paying customers from downloading any content to their PC and Mac applications to watch offline.
