Having only moved to the UK from South Africa the previous year it was the first time I’d experienced snow...being a kid I actually enjoyed it and didn’t realise the seriousness of it all back then. I recently watched a documentary on Channel 5 called ‘1982: The Big Snow’...it’s currently available on My5 app & I can recommend it 👍🏼
God I remember this winter as a kid! Going to school on a sledge everyday was great but it took a while getting all the snow off the front door first!!!!
I remember January 1982. We had just moved from Liverpool to Runcorn and I could walk to school ON the Bridgewater canal as it was frozen over. I was 14.
