Some early morning Ceefax from BBC1 in 1988 featuring some Olympics pages from the Seoul 1988 Summer Olympics which began the very same day on Sat 17 Sep 1988 and finished on the 2nd October 1988. This Ceefax transmission had been running for a while by the time we join it here, and features the last few tracks from Bottoms Up, then a very rare link track after a little gap and the beginning of the Simple Piano tape. Enjoy!
Footage very kindly passed onto me by Bryan Green who is the source of the material :-)

The link track between "Bottom's Up" and "Simple Piano" is called "Alpha Beam" by Dave Cornfield's Music Machine from a Mozart Edition LP. MESLP114 or the German LP LA10016 on the Airlift Label.

Bit clumsy of whoever was on not to play the link track in full. Mind you they were probably out of practice from the heady mid 80’s where link tracks were a regular between tapes.

I think it may have been the case that either the Network Control Room were responsible for that as the morning continuity announcer had to go over from the BBC1 continuity suite to the Open University transmission suite to handle the broadcast after CEEFAX at 6.40am, or they had the overnight announcer still in the suite but the BBC2 announcer at the OU suite also had to handle the BBC1 OU broadcasts that morning.
