Features the BBC2 closedown and start-up with the Learning Zone and a whole 1 hour and 3 minutes of Ceefax! Slide Rule is the tape here and is played in it's entirety through to 01.52 - allowing us to hear those elusive tracks from 8 onwards and then Jump In takes over for the final 7 and a half minutes of this transmission, enjoy!
Footage very kindly passed onto me by Bryan Green who is the source of the material :-)

I well remember these tunes and was 26 at the time. Half a lifetime ago as I am now aged 52. Of this selection, the second is my favourite. (I have a very good memory for tunes!)

I love the bright and happy tune at 42:13. I used to get up early to listen to the music when I was a kid in the early 1990s. It makes me feel good.

Just remember so fondly, circa early 1996, watching ceefax waiting for power rangers to come on. One time, the sun was coming up, the sky going from navy to a pleasant pink colour like the "finances" picture on here with the high-rise in the foreground. I had my power ranger plush (which my Gran had bought from the toy section of the long-defunct Lewis's store in Liverpool), and said to it "you're going to be on TV in a minute" :D

This has to my favourite Ceefax tape of all time! Okay admittedly, B.A.R.T. is probably the track most Ceefaxians most fondly remember. For me, the iconic track at 5:26 is the one I absolutely remember most - waking up early on Saturday Mornings, dark outside and this awesome track comes on! Very very fond memories of yesteryear :) Hadn't heard it for 20 years, but as soon as I heard it, remembered it just like it was yesterday!

Actually Slide Rule was finished in February 2001 following succeeded new tape called Supreme Comfort.

Man these were the fucking days!! Childhood was royally messed up and with what went on in the night I could never sleep dye to nightmares and other stuff......but when I needed comfort ceefax was always on! The pixelated little red car , the multicolored text and of course the awesome music! I wish it would come back i still love ceefax to this day and i have a few of them via download so I'll always have them

Yes. But what's that name of that song? It's very good. No wonder the 2 songs were retained for Slide Rule (the successor for Colours tape in the summer of '93) up until 2001. The songs were so good that it helps me to calm down and enjoy the scenery of the West Coast in Singapore. I'm a Singaporean and I'm a huge fan of listening to Ceefax tapes from the 60's (Pizzi Pizzi and Nostalgia) to 2012. I also enjoyed listening to the tape Together Again/Hollywood and Daydreams, Decanter, I Wonder If You Love Me, Colours, Jewel in the Night, Slide Rule, Twilight Break, Horizons and even Unexpected Journey (never heard before, but to be honest, it's a relaxing track).

I have managed to find a recently uploaded video that has more than 35 minutes of the Jewel In The Night tape, either side of some mock ITV presentation, and a large proportion of the tracks on it sounds very similar to the general sound of the Colours Tape.

There is another upload from Jez C lasting 58:53 that includes most of track 4 of the colours tape so that one has replaced this one on the special Slide Rule playlist. If only there were full plays of all the test card tapes floating about somewhere as well as the snippets and individual tracks on here.w

@@dvidclapperton Must be the same composer who wrote and composed a bunch of songs for Ceefax tapes such as Sombrero (1985), Jewel in the Night (1987-90) and the last tape Colours (1990-93).

I've been doing some research and it looks like these tracks now have different names, as the Funtastik Music catalogue was sold to BMG and is now known as Vibrant Music. Haven't yet found tracks 2 and 3, but can tell you that track 1 is "Times Square" by T. Day / J. Burns / A. Grossart (Roadtrip USA, VIBE024)
