I own and love the EDP and the Extrait. The EDP was a love at first sniff. I received a sample that came with another fragrance that I had purchased. I decided to sniff the Gris Charnel sample first. I took a sniff, I put the sample in the table, and ordered a full bottle on the spot! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I tried 8 of their samples and I LOVED 4, which is such a high success rate for me from one house. Gris Charnel is my fave (masterpiece imo), Tubereuse Imperiale, Rouge Smoking, Pas Ce Soir. Yet to try the extrait or any of the blue bottles. Fabulous range, well done David 🙌
I love when you get guests on to explain their process in creating a fragrance and explaining their brands and inspiration! it's been so wonderful to see some more of these guys getting involved in social and promoting their work directly and through influencers as well. they tell their stories so well! I actually think this is so fascinating to hear directly from these folks who have the experiences of the business ins and outs.
It's interesting to hear David say he did not expect Gris Charnel to be so popular. As an artist I find very often when I do a series of paintings, the favorite is always the one I am slightly unsure of. I DO NOT want to imply Gris Charnel was not his favorite creation as he clearly created each one with passionate intent. I am newly fascinated by fragrance and the similarities to painting are astounding. I suppose creativity and expression are all the same, just spoken through different languages. Thank you for sharing this peek into the world of perfumers. I am so excited to try this house - saving my pennies :). Your recommendations are always so spot on!!
BDK was my best brand discovery of 2022. I went crazy over Rouge smoking and Gris charnel. The extrait did not disappoint. Plus I like when you have guests because this is the first time someone mentions a place to study about perfumery
I feel Seb should thank his guests too for making it there. But otherwise, great to see content like this. Meeting up with perfumers and brand faces to learn more about the brands we are discovering and ultimately loving.
Love his love for perfumery and that fact that he is so humble and genuine 💕 I have so about 10 of the fragrances and will continue to support the brand ❤️
Thank you Sebastian for the interview with David and your review! This was so detailed on the history of BDK and Gris Charnel. Ah I definitely want to try the original now I love Gris Charnel Extrait 🔥🔥🔥
Sel d'argent is one of my all time favorite fragrances I own. It is a masterpiece in my opinion, reminds me of when I was a kid at the beach. Citrus riviera also has an amazing crisp water note that I adore
I just got a sample of the Extrait, and ended up with a sample of the original too. I really like both a lot, but happen to LOVE the Extrait. I'm only starting my collection, and am really picky, since it is expensive 🫰, but that one is a definite buy of a full bottle when I have the chance!
great interview! david seems like a really nice guy! great to have a nice face for the brand that i liked the most in the past months. i would love to see reviews about the other gems that this house has to offer. tabac rose and creme de cuir are really standouts for my liking. cheers from chile!
I just realizing how many perfumes are there in my collection from BDK. Newest obsession is Vanille Leather and as a Hungarian I had to buy Bouquet de Hongrie - no regrets:)))
David looks very humble person. I bought all the sample before decided to buy one. I like most of them, and difficult to make decisions for myself 😅. Gris Charnel reminded me of when I entered Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai especially when We went to have buffet there. The smell of sandalwood, black tea and cardamon is still in my mind.
Cool interview! So much interesting to ear him! My favorites are Gris Charnel, arouge Smoking and Velvet Tonka. Really did'nt like Pas ce soir. P.S.: Out of topic, but he's very handsome!😅🥰
Welcome Mr David.. u look a very practical and simple character.. I have heard a lot about wood jasmine.. wish u all the best .. also thank u Mr Sebastian for this interview .. 🌹🌹
Hi Sebastien. I purchased Gris Charnel Extrait yesterday at Jovoy's. It was almost a blind buy as I only tried on a strip. Initially I visited Jovoy to purchase a floral spring fragrance (Amouage Honour or Ashore). I wandered towards the BDK corner and then BAM!, love at first sniff. I had never smelled the original Gris Charnel fragrance. On the drydown, Gris Charnel Extrait for me smells like a mixture of 3 of my fav fragrances : YSL's 6 place de l'Université, 24 rue de l'Université and NU (2011 version). It is just beautiful!!!!!
I was just blown away by the Gris Charnel Extrait. It sits at the top of my 10 fragrances for life list, along with the King of Woody Aromatics, Creed Bois Du Portugal.
Gris Charnel EDP smells amazing on my husband. He loves wearing it. We like to share it. Such a great perfume. The opening is my favorite part, but it's great from beginning to end.
Hi Sebastian, this was a really interesting interview. I liked that we had a window into the mind of a perfumer in terms of why they change perfumes when they do an extrait version. This explains a lot about why versions are rarely the same between parfum, extrait or cologne versions of fragrance. This was a great interview with David. I am looking forward to trying this fragrance company. - Jenn
You are such an excellent host! I've been anticipating this release and your review. This video gave me a whole new appreciation for this house and its creator. Thank you both!!
BDK has some beautiful fragrances. I purchased Citrus Riviera several months ago and my most recent acquisition is Tabac Rose. Gris Charnel is something I’d like to get my nose on. Seb, great idea to David on.
I live here in L.A. and live close to Luckyscent (scent bar). I was just there and smelled Gris Charnel. And must say it was love at first sniff. So I bought myself a bottle. Sebastian or anyone else get a coconut vibe from it? As I did 🤔
i was mesmerized watching this video ...i am on my 3rd bottle of gris charnel i absolutely love it and purchased last week gris charnel extrait so im impatiently sitting by the letterbox for its arrival im sure its going to be as if not even more stunning than the original thankyou sebastian for the well informed video i thoroughly enjoyed xo
Thanks for another enjoyable interview I am a huge fan of BDK & David Benedek ... I can't wait to get my hands on GRIS CHARNEL EXTRAIT & AMBRE SAFRANO , nice to see tobacco & pink pepper notes in it . Cheers Brutha 😎
Haven't tried anything from BDK, I want to try GRIS CHARNEL both versions, Sel D'Argent, Wood Jasmin and Tabac Rose, also the new one Ambre Safrano, too many fragrances!!! Great video Sebastian thank you for sharing these interviews!!!
I’m wearing Gris Charnel to watch this interview! I also own Pas Ce Soir and love them both. Can’t wait to try the Extrait. Villa Neroli is intriguing too. And laundry detergent?! What a fabulous idea.
Actually you can buy Ambre Safrano from the main site in Europe. It is sweat amber, but most prominent is black leather (their description) which goes to the dried plum after a while
I've sampled Ambre Safrano. I think you'll like it Sebastian. It's in the wheelhouse of John Varvatos Dark Rebel / Dark Rebel Rider. Black leather sweetened by plum, smoky vanilla. Good stuff!
I have fallen in love with the BDK Parfums brand. As of right now I have full bottles of Gris Charnel- my favorite! Love at first sniff, Bouquet de Hongrie, Pas Ce Soir - a favorite & a signature scent, Rouge Smoking, Tabac Rose - ❤❤❤, Tubereuse Imperiale & Velvet Tonka. I then have travel sprays of Citrus Riviera, Nuit de Sable & Creme de Cuir. Ii received a sample of Gris Charnel Extrait and I fell in love again. So my next BDK buys are full bottles of Gris Charnel Extrait, Citrus Riviera & Wood Jasmin. And now I have to see if I can get a sample/ or blind buy the full bottle of that Amber one in Herrods! WHAT? Candles & laundry detergent? Just take all my money! 😂 🥰🥰🥰
I love Gris Charnel and bought a full bottle, love wearing it on rainy days. I got a decant of the extrait from a fb group(someone bought a bottle and did a split). I loved it just as much as the original, still need to wear it a bit more to see if I'll get a full bottle.
Such a gem Creme de Cuir, I have been testing a decant for a few days now and it is a stunning fragrance, so sophisticated and the suede note is very realistic😍😍it will be my next purchase for sure from BDK. My second favourite is Rouge Smoking😍
I have Pas ce soir from BDK and I also like Nuit de sable and I've sampled ten of their fragrances, but the rest weren't exactly to my liking. I never was a fan of the original Gris charnel since I don't like the note of fig in fragrances and that one on my skin smelled really intense of figs. I've sampled a couple of weeks ago the extrait version and I must say I enjoyed it more. The smell of fig is still there, but not so intense and it is much woodier and smokier, which I prefer. I am curious about the Ambre safrano one, but from what David said, we must wait till september I think. Thank you for the video!
Very cool. I’ve heard the EDP has a similar vibe to IA Yesterday’s Haze. In my opinion that’s a good thing. I’ll probably grab the EDP and if I like it then I’ll get the Extrait. Sold on Venba too.
Loved this interview! My favorite BDKs are Rouge Smoking and Sel D'Argent. I really like this house overall, their fragrances are lovely and so well-crafted. I can't wait to try their candles, so exciting!
Excellent! Thank you. That was an informative and enjoyable interview. I have a question for David. Are there any plans for doing more extraits in the future?
I was wondering what is meant by bdk and how david came about with the name of the brand. I was hoping it was one of the interesting questions you could have asked 😊 but overall very informative interview. Thanks PG
