What? 😂 He means you should be peaceful, not harmless. What you're talking about lacks a very crucial detail: there needs to be a big stick in your hand. You must be able to cause harm. Without an ability to harm, anything you do can be simply brushed aside.

I wish more people would understand how to defend yourself and when it was proper. There have been a few times I have had to defend myself despite my best efforts to get out of and avoid those kinds of situations, and pretty much each time afterwards I got told by others I was in the wrong for being attacked and defending myself. I was almost expelled from school for being attacked by a group of bullies and fighting back because of their stupid zero tolerance policies.

@@Rembanspellsongmany of those zero tolerance policies should be questioned in court. The local schools near me have a policy that while not enforced well, is ANYONE who is in the first circle of spectators or is hit (even as a passerby who had no business with the altercation) gets a 45 day suspension. This was raised from 10. So basically if you were to walk by and someone involved dropped a pencil on your foot, goodbye to that set of courses. It was never well enforced nor were many caught, but it was policy.

When I was younger, I was a gang member, did stupid stuff, etc. As I got older, I started to realize my mistakes, and work to correct them. Today, I still have in me all the stuff that made me the bad person I was, but I generally have control of them. I am now working on my EMT-IV, or Paramedic certifications. The same drive that made me a bad person, loyal to the wrong things now places me to help people and do the right things. I feel this lesson deep in my heart.

He's right. Learn to be a dangerous man and you can afford to be peaceful and merciful. Attempting to become dangerous after something happens is a losing strategy because you have to overcome weakness and conditioned subservience. Better to be strong and able to act against adversity than to be a victim of it.

@@no-gracias9863 Here's an example: Most guys might be able to fight one guy of similar skill level if they had to defend their girl friend from an assault. A dangerous man might be able to successful fend off four guys trying the same. Most younger people might not know how to fight because they don't have to fight a bully in school, while those of us who grew up a decade or two ago probably fought behind the gym or might have done Golden Gloves and learned to box. Someone who learns how to box is dangerous because they learned how to throw a proper punch and where to land it and they also learned to take a punch. They're also probably conditioned to fight for a long time compared to other people. Connor MacGregor is dangerous versus me and you because he could probably actually kill both of us with his bare hands.

Like the guy who talks about kicking someone's ass yet has never been in a fight. I like Peterson but I disagree with this. Mainly because people think things are so hard when there really not. On another note, the men that taught me where hard as hell with kind souls. Lay the blocks, pour the concrete, be on time. A hangover is not an excuse. Hit the pads or the gym with them durung the week. After that, have a beer at 18 with these men on a friday. Go home early friday, spend time with yours saturday, look after the house that evening. Call these men if needed, sunday is grace day. Do whats needed and wanted (kids, wife, parents, church etc), then call the boss and tell him what is happening with you this next week. They will have your back if you have theirs. I bust my gut for crews like this in my teens and twenties. Loved it. ❤

The best jobs are the ones where instead of just saying "we're family here" in order to get you to work extra hours, instead actually do treat you like family where loyalty and effort gets noticed. Usually small town companies in my experience.

Meek in that context also means a person who is ready to submit to God's direction/commands. That verse is Matthew 5:5. The Bible promises an earthly paradise where righteous people will live forever. (Psalm 37:29) I want to see you and other people from this video there. I would love to discuss the Bible with you. I train every week, and often every day, to be as capable as humanly possible as an agent of defense, and if needed, of war. Every moment, every location, every situation I visit in my day I'm looking at from the standpoint of how would I defend myself, defend others, tactically utilize structures, objects, and assess unknowns and potential threats. It's amazing how aware you become, and how many are sleepwalking through the world.

I think he means know how to survive in the world as far as not letting people use and abuse you. I think it’s important to know how to physically defend yourself first and be as physically fit as possible. Then parents need to take the time to teach assertiveness and after that they need to learn to verbally be a savage with self control. The manipulators and bullies need sometimes to be physically and or verbally flattened. Anyone can learn to do this, and guard your heart and stay empathetic and kind.❤

@@comfortsoft2657 Yes I did think about what I wrote. Manipulators and bullies destroy lives. They think compassionate and empathetic people are weak and stupid. They are evil and everyone should learn to avoid them. Victims of these people need to learn to defend themselves physically and verbally and many times you must flatten them to make them stop destroying you, which is their goal.This is mostly what it takes to stop them from victimizing you unfortunately. You can certainly defend yourself from manipulators and bullies and still be a kind empathetic person.

I disagree. This has as much (or more) to do with physical ruthlessness and violence, as it does words and attitude (assertiveness as you put it). Every man should be capable of atrocious viscous violence, but have the wisdom and control to keep that leashed and contained until truly needed. "Slow to wrath.." (wrath is vicious, controlled violence and destruction).

Im learning to control that inner monster being a Dad. To be told be another man im terrifying when im angry and i hadnt even raised my voice, or even made a move. Just my glare and presence change was enough to fill him with dread. That inner monster protects this family. He may be kind, compasionate and loving. But inside the war rages on to supress that monster and tame it.

He is referring to WWll veterans, My dad fought the Japanese all across the Pacific to Okinawa and he said the Japanese soldiers would not give up for anything. My dad the most kind gentle man I have ever known was once one mean SOB when it was called for. As a Vietnam veteran, my respect for my dad has only grown over the years

I don't necessarily agree. A livestock guardian dog is a gentle and protective companion to man and flock but will rip a coyote in half. Monster is a very relative term. A top-tier soldier can be a loving father and devoted husband. Your statement is too linear for such a complex topic.
