Paul is so fantastic! He was fantastic fifty years ago, and he's still fantastic today! He will always be fantastic!!!! I wish i can go to his concerts someday... :)
Paul came to Austin five years ago for the first time. It was my all-time favorite concert, edging out seeing Led Zeppelin's very last US concert in Los Angeles.
Paulie totally rocked this one!!! He still looks so much like he used to on stage, all the same mannerisms, smiles, everything. Love this guy forever!!!
First heard this on John’s solo record “Rock N Roll” but love this version so much! I think there’s a story that when Paul first saw John play with The Quarrymen he was playing this song
Lead guitar was so completely cool. The back up singers knocked it out of the park. Paul was...... like Paul.... you know.. Sir Paul. Wow. Gene Vincent would have loved this version.
Ahhhhh! I can't believe I just found out this existed! Be-bop-a-lula has been my family's nickname for me ever since I was a baby, and my mom used to sing it to me all the time... to find out one of my favorite artists covered it just made my whole week!
XThis is an artistic rare occurrence, where a " copy" actually supersedes the original. Well done. Puts me in a very funky-groove dance. I love this rendition!!!
It's only rare if you're not in the Beatles. See: Words of Love (Buddy Holly cover > original); Twist and Shout (Isley Brothers cover > original); Till There Was You (cover of Broadway musical song > original).
He also did this in Hamburg with the rest of the Beatles in 1962 and it’s a much more rock version of it... just search “Beatles live 1962 at star club” and it’s the one that’s around 2 hours long
I was lucky enough to see this line up live in 1993 the best show I've ever seen ...Paul sings this better than the original ...Thanks for the music the memories and the inspiration...Cheers Frank "The Memphis Suns".
Why do you say he's better than the original why not just different? Music is not some stupid competitive sport like football. Gene Vincent had breathless delivery and hesitation like he was going to miss the beat but he never did - and I think that's quite tricky to emulate.
This was live from early years of MTV Unplugged series. Paul released the recording of his performances at 1991 on his album _Unplugged (Official Bootleg),_ and helped MTV Unplugged program into succes and gained much more popularity.
Sir Paul really needs to be promoting 50s and early 60s rock to younger generations like mine. John Lennon would be doing it if he were alive today. (Curse you, Mark, David Chapman!)
Love this band, it was the best version of "solo" Paul he had. Unlike the bunch of poser pretty boys from nowadays Paul's band, who just care if they look good for the camera and do stupid guitar stuff on Beatles songs...
I like this, but I love Gene's version better. You can't beat his Blue Caps, esp. Cliff Gallup playing the leads. That's 50's music at it's best, I know Macca would agree with me! 👍
