“Be doers of the Word,” an instruction from James to those who follow the Messiah. But what does he mean by the phrase? What is the “Word” we are to do? We’ll examine 5 keys that unlock James' meaning and touch on the idea of the Torah being broken down into three categories, the civil laws, moral laws, and ceremonial laws.

I think you have that backwards but not even. Chaldeans and Greeks are not related at all. They are polar opposite. Babylon existed before Chaldea or Kaldu and was in southeast Mesopotamia region before being absorbed by Babylonians then Persians. Greeks were much further to the west and didn't even enter that area too much until 500 B.C. after the fall of Babylon as it was known then. Flee from Babylon is all you have to say. To add to this conversation... As I was listening I had to pause constantly going down other rabbit holes. The one in which I believe is the most valuable to this conversation in this reply is the fact that Acts 21 is in the context of Shaul going to Jerusalem for Shavuot some 25 years or so after Messiahs death on The Cross. At that time as the video mentions James tells Shaul the people think he teaches against Moshe, so James tells Shaul go show the people before Shavuot that you this is a lie and perform the purification ritual found in Lev 14:8-10. Shaul does so. Then Shaul goes on in the next chapters to defend the Torah/Law claiming he is still a JEW (22:3). Even mentioning Ananias was a Torah follower (22:12), then in 24:14, defends the Torah again by stating he follows it. Then ends Acts in 28:23, preaching from the Torah and Prophets from morning till evening. Blessings family.

They didn’t only instruct against idolatry and fornication. They instructed to not eat blood. The strangled meat and things offered to idols are equated to idol worship. Eating blood and fornication can also, but not always, as there was temple prostitution, and likely rituals involving blood, but if you don’t drain meat when you slaughter the animal, you’re going to be eating blood. Those were given to brand spanking new believers who did not know the commandments. Do these important things first THEN they would continue to hear and learn TORAH every Sabbath in the synagogues…read verse 21. They anticipated the new believers would learn and start applying the commandments to their lives. The Colossians verse you quoted is about fasting…..eating or not eating on this day or that day. Paul said don’t quarrel over such things because there are no Torah commandments that govern fasting. Paul DID NOT teach against Torah. That makes him a false prophet according to Deuteronomy 13. Gods Law is eternal per Scripture. We CANNOT take any verses out of context and make them contradict other verses. THAT is why so many loose faith in Scripture because sadly the church has created so many contradictions in order to avoid obeying the commandments. The flesh is at enmity to the Law of God…the flesh does not want to do it so it will make EVERY excuse not to. Paul’s “difficult to understand per 2 Peter 3” letters have been lifted up higher than the words of Yeshua and The Father…”but Paul said….” Etc etc. We CANNOT do that.

That verse still says the one who relaxes and teaches the breaking of the commandment will be in the kingdom Of heaven though…just that they will be the least…I also believe we are at the very least are supposed to follow the 10 commandments and I feel like I am going against strongholds that say oh no, we have grace so it doesn’t matter and I know we are saved by grace but that doesn’t mean he wants us to go on just living the way we were before we came to him…yes we will probably sin by getting angry or not showing enough mercy or letting the worries or pleasures of life start to hold a little too much value and I don’t think that will send us to hell bc if it did we wouldn’t have grace but I also don’t think it’s a green light to accept living in those ways which is what I feel like modern Christianity is doing. There’s a difference between falling into a mud puddle and getting up or choosing to jump into a mud puddle and stay in it….

If we don't need to offer animal sacrifices today (which was also an instruction in the Torah) because of the sacrifice of Jesus, then it simply implies that certain things are done away with. The epistles to the Colossians, Hebrews, and many of Paul's writings clearly show how that the law itself was a shadow and Christ himself the reality. Even in Acts 15, James only instructed the Gentiles against Idolatry and fornication which were in the Ten commandments (the moral law). Reading the epistles, especially Paul, obedience to the law is clearly taught as Faith in Christ Jesus. The law is upheld by faith. The 613 laws of Moses, separate from the Ten commandments is what I would like to refer to as an explanation of God's law for their cultural context. This is why Paul could later teach that certain unclean foods could be eaten, if it raised no question of conscience (ROM 14), something that was clearly not allowed within congregation of Israelites in the wilderness. And also, why Paul could teach that observing days, months, seasons etc or the Sabbath, was not the essence of the law. (Col 2: 16-17). And why Paul could also teach in 1Cor 8, that eating food offered to Idols was not wrong but that the one who eats should walk in love towards the weaker brethren rather than become a stumbling block to him. The Pharisees misinterpreted and wrongly practiced the law of Moses in their day, which became their major hindrance in believing in the Messiah. Jesus gave the correct usage and explanation for the law. However, let's not make the mistake of tilting to another extreme of assuming that every detail of the law of Moses is relevant today. Rather, the essence, which is clearly seen in the Ten commandments, must be understood and translated into our cultural context. The essence - Love and honor for God, Love and honor for man; The greatest commandment- To love the Lord your God with all your heart, your mind and your strength and to love your neighbour, as yourself. Galatians 5:14 [14]For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Romans 13:9-10 [9]For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [10]Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. That's why in the epistles, the instruction for the believer's conduct is not usually about offering sacrifices, Sabbaths, feasts or dietary laws but rather about love and honor for God and for men, because that's the essence of the law. Shalom!

Paul never taught that you could eat pork. Pork, among other items, was not considered food to jews/early church fathers. Also, the pharisees had a strict ritual to wash hands before meals. Romans 14:20 parallels Mark 7:14-23 (thus he declared all foods clean) ... the context of this chapter, verses 1-4, has everything to do with ceremonial hand washing... not abolishing and undoing a commandment of God regarding certain things which humans are not supposed to eat.

@Dan. Acts 15. We need to read it in context because context is everything. Acts 15 ask one question. Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved. Some though you needed to follow all laws first in order to be saved. The council determined this . Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. 21 For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath So to enter the faith this must be done first, then they will learn in the synagogues the rest of God's law on every sabbath day. It's the same with new believers today. We do not expect new believers to be as righteous as Enoch the day they are saved. They learn how to be righteous from the word of God and this can take a lifetime of study. So the council did not rule as your misinterpretation states. We do not offer sacrifice because there is no Temple to offer it at. Unclean could refer to animals God did not intend to be used as food (listed in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14). Unclean could also refer to ceremonial uncleanness. An entirely different word, akathartos, is used in the New Testament for animals Scripture specifies as unclean such as pig. In Romans 14 Paul uses the word koinos, which means “common” (W.E. Vine, Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words, 1985, “Unclean,” p. 649). In addition to the meanings of “common” and “ordinary,” as used in English (Acts 2:44; 4:32; Titus 1:4; Hebrews 10:29; Jude 3), the word also applied to things considered polluted or defiled. This word, along with its verb form koinoo, is used in Mark 7:2, 15-23, where it obviously refers to ceremonial uncleanness in the incident when the disciples ate without having first washed their hands. Through a concordance or similar Bible help you can verify that koinos and koinoo appear throughout the New Testament to refer to this kind of ceremonial uncleanness. Something could be “common”-ceremonially unclean-even though it was otherwise considered a clean meat. 16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: This verse uses those prior thoughts to refute a claim made by false teachers. These deceivers were telling Colossian Christians that they must follow specific rituals, rules, and regulations in order to be saved. In the next verse, Paul will call these concepts "a shadow of the things to come," or something much less important than Christ Himself.

You totally miss James’ point about mercy and judging others. You also miss the point about what Paul has to say about why faith in Christ (it requires faith to walk in Jesus’ Sermon teachings) is to have life, and why faith in Moses is guaranteed to fail. You also miss the point of what Christ teaches in Mark 7.1-23. Is there anything wrong with Messianic Jews who practice Torah and believe in Christ? So long as we are doing it in order to win Jews over to believe in the Gospel 1Co9.20. What is the Gospel? The first Adam was made of dust and ashes, and his children must all die, the last Adam is from Heaven and is made of a spirit that gives life 1Co15.45. Those who die to the body given through the first Adam made of dust, will win for themselves the body given by the last Adam from Heaven. How do we die to our first Adam bodies? We must have a living faith in The Last Adam.

The new covenant per Jeremiah is with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. And the NT says “gentiles” are grafted in. Ruth ceased to be a Moabite when she cleaved to the covenant of YHWH. Kaleb was part of the tribe of Judah but his ancestry was not Israel. Yeshua said ALL ISRAEL WILL BE SAVED. The gates of the new Jerusalem are named for the 12 tribes, there is no “gentile” gate. Those that believe in Yeshua/Jesus BECOME part of Israel. So once you believe…everything in the book written to Israel now applies to you 😁
@attainingknowledgeoftruth8348
@@deborahhuber8527, "once you believe…everything in the book written to Israel now applies to you." This false a doctrine of ERROR and is NOWHERE in the Bible. The Most High Made a covenant with Israelites which they broke. As punishment us Israelites where cursed. Daniel was a righteous prophet yet he was held under the curse of captivity. Gentile believers have NEVER been held under the curses that have been inflicted onto the the Israelites. Israel only entered into the covenant and Israel only received the curses. Therefore Israel ONLY will receive the blessings. This is why in Mat 15:26 Christ told the Canaanite woman (who was a believer) "It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs." The Children referred to are the Israelites and the dogs are non Israelites. And yes Christ ended up granting her request but only after she acknowledged she was not one of the children but a dog. Christ NEVER told her since she had faith she was now one of the Children. Gentile believers can worship and have faith in The Most High but cannot become Israelites. Ruth married an Israelite man and became maternal lineage of King David but she was NEVER ONE TIME called an Israelite. Corneilus the centurion received the Holy Spirit but was NEVER AT ANY POINT CALLED AN ISRAELITE. Romans 11:26 when says "And so all Israel shall be saved." This is referring to the prophecy when the Northern Kingdom (Israel) and Southern Kingdom (Judah) are once again united. Do you understand? Peace

I love this channel and I agree with 99% of this work but the new testament definitely puts an emphasis on disavowing some works of the law/ceremonies. There's a reason why the 10 commandments were put inside the ark of the covenant and were written in stone and there is also another reason why the law of Moses was written by man's hand and NOT put into the ark but outside of the ark. I think you guys are 98% more accurate than most and you really have some great knowledge but watching the video about child stoning and just the massive reach you make to make it sound still acceptable does yourselves a disservice. Should we really kill someone worthy of death because of a sin then hang him on tree but also make sure we take him down by that night? So the land is not defiled? Are we really stoning a woman and man for committing adultery? If a man sleeps with a virgin and gets caught does he still have to pay 50 shekels? What about a man with his member cut off or his stones damaged, can they not enter into the congregation? A bastard shall not enter into the congregation until the 10th generation? I get it, God is the same today as He was yesterday, as He will be tomorrow. I also get that if we start picking and choosing from the Torah then it makes it all invalid so we have to accept it all or it's all invalid but I disagree. I think the point of it all was God sent Jesus and once Jesus paid that price we were also changed. The law was written in our heart but we still use the 10 commandments as the ultimate guide. If you faithfully obey the 10 commandments you can't break any of the 613 other laws. That's the point. When Jesus gave up the ghost the veil of the tabernacle was rent and twain from top to bottom. Which means the sacrificial laws or ceremonies were dead otherwise we would all still be doing that but a large majority of the time in the new testament when they say 'works of the law' they are talking about the works of Moses' law, written by man, on paper, to be kept outside of the ark. Not inside with the 10 commandments literally written by God Himself. I think the Torah is a great moral guide especially if there is any questions but we obviously can't sacrifice anymore and even if there was a temple, it'd almost be impossible for everyone to do it. You guys say that's the only reason we don't because it's not possible but thats kind of a cop out in a sense. It's clear that a lot of these laws were geared for a very rough, archaic age where things needed to be more stiff plus the Israelites couldn't stop falling off the bandwagon. Let me know the next time we hang a dead body off of a tree.

Exactly can't be kept because there is no temple. How I see it though is to not totally shun the feasts and new moons because we can learn much from them in a prophetic sense, like when he will return, but because there is no temple it's a choic nowe like circumcision, theres no strict obligation. That was pauls whole point in (Colossians 2:14-17 KJV) do not judge about these matters. Where as before if one didn't keep the cerminonies they would be judged by the priests at the temple, but obviously no temple = no judgement for not keeping them so were free to choose now, but we also shouldn't judge people in the hebrew roots and messianic community who decide to keep them. I personally have started keeping the feasts this year. I was very confused if the last supper was a passover, but it was certainly a great learning experience, and I can't wait for shavaot!

God told them he was tired of all the feasts and ceremonies. The point of it all was that the sacrifice lost its meaning. They had plenty of animals so instead of not sinning, they didn’t mind just sacrificing another animal to take care of the sin. That’s why Jesus came as flesh and blood man bc he was human and the sacrifice should have meant more than an animal but it didn’t to those who were so blinded by sin, nothing else mattered. It kind of sounds like how modern Christianity is by making it sound like it’s ok to sin bc we’re human and it’s going to happen but Jesus forgives us so we’re good and can just carry on but I think that is a very dangerous position to take. When does it go from being an unwilling sin to being excused and justified. As humans, we tend to do that when we want something..There is a saying my husband used to use before we came to Christ that always irked me and really does now..” ask for forgiveness instead of permission”. That’s abuse of mercy and for me personally, I really hate to think about abusing my Lord Jesus Christ’s mercy. That doesn’t mean we are never again going to sin but maybe it means we don’t choose to sin. And if we do sin, we quickly recognize and repent and he forgives us and we carry on…that’s what the Holy Spirit does for us…this is just my opinion of how I’ve been led by the Lord to comprehend scripture.

You need to read Acts 15:1-35, and read it carefully. James specifically mentioned that Gentiles _were instructed from the Law every Sabbath_ . Whether or not the Law should be kept was not the issue. The issue was specifically about whether or not physical circumcision was necessary under the New Covenant(Acts:15:1-2,6). Nowhere in the entire chapter did any of the apostles or elders say "let's throw the entire Torah in the trash and forget about it".

@@theeternalsbeliever1779 I don't appreciate that you selectively ignored (Acts 15: 5 Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses.”) which includes the argument of keeping Moses law, where it is obvious that Acts 15:6 refers to both Circumcision and Keeping Moses Law question. Besides you can see from Peter's argument in verse 10 (10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear?) obviously, he is not talking about the burden of circumcision because Jews didn't have an issue with Circumcision, but keeping Moses Law was the main issue that the Jews couldn't keep under the old covenant and that's why Jesus completed the old covenant and started a new one. Jesus is the Torah written in our hearts under the new covenant. And finally, you misunderstood what James said in Acts 15: 19-21 (19 “It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. 20 Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. 21 For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.”) Jaems is saying that Jews has enough teachings on weekly bases from Moses Law but we need to send (new) instructions with elected disciples to the gentiles to inform them not to be burdened by circumcision and by keeping mosses law.

This is the whole context of the book of Galatians. Also, your interpretation of verse 20 doesn't make any sense. Gentiles don't need to keep the law of moses but (abstaining from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood) are literally all things FROM the law. New gentile believers had limited information about the law, that law that has lots of information and commandments and takes time to learn about. You didn't walk into 1st grade as a child and understood college algebra because there is a lot to learn up until that point. The gentiles went to sabbath services in the synagogue to gain a gradual knowledge of something that contains a lot of information and ties directly back to verse 10. If you continue on in Acts, Paul was accused of teaching against the law. Paul takes a nazarite vow (Acts 21:23-26) to show that there is no truth in those claims. Scripture shows that Paul continued to keep the law his entire life by keeping the sabbath, dietary laws, and holy days.

@@AlexxTehGreat I am not sure we are reading the same chapter because Acts 15:10 is Peter speaking and not Paul, and the argument about the burden was about both Circumcision and Keeping Moses law (Acts 15:5). So, you keep dismissing the fact that their discussion was about both Circumcision and Keeping mosses law. And the final instruction was not to burden gentiles with Circumcision and Keeping Moses law beyond Acts 15:20 so no sabbath no animal sacrifices no circumcision and no need to follow the old covenant at all. So the same argument against circumcision goes against keeping Moses law because gentiles now are the sons of Abrahim before circumcision and before the covenant (that's Romans 3 and 4). While, Christians who were Jews (including all apostles plus Paul) they still had to honor Moses law because they were the sons of the old covenant. but that Technically ended by 70 AD when the temple was destroyed, and the entire old covenant was brought to an end. So how you can keep the entire Torah without animal sacrifices in the temple? Why your focus is only on the Sabbath? When was the last time you offered animal sacrifice in the temple for your sins? Are you following the Torah with animal sacrifices? Do pregnant women offer animal sacrifice after giving birth? Paul didn't teach against Moses law for the Jews or Christians who were Jews, he preached that Gentiles don't need to follow Moses law to be fully Christians. Paul himself followed Moses law till the end but he was against making Gentiles keep Moses law. Finally, how do you think Jews would allow gentiles to go to the temple and offer animal sacrifices and keep Moses law if they refuse to get circumcised?????? ًWe are the Sons of Abrahim without circumcision and without Moses law, Jesus is our high priest who sacrificed himself and to went to heaven to submit his sacrifice and that what brought an end to the entire old covenant. That is the entire book of Hebrews

@@basharelia Acts 15:1 But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.” You taking one verse out of context with the assumption that the burden that's being talked about is the law... Matthew 5:18-19 is pretty clear

Hold on James and Paul are above God. He you must to do a video about that too. God give the law and not even god can break the law because God is holy. My opinion

Continuing to try to keep the law of sin and death, after Yahshua fulfilled, it, is the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the Prophet. You are bringing Yahshua's purpose to naught.

Yeshua, Paul, and the apostles were all keeping the law throughout their lives? We are instructed to imitate Paul as he imitates Christ?
