Salaam sister, I'm going to say this. Yes, you can. Unless it's halal job. Example: Office job (Not related to MLM), A cooked (Chef), community work, cashier, walker for delivery. Research what job can a Muslim woman apply. Always research in your hometown's law before getting a job. I don't want you to get in trouble. Also newspapers have jobs for you to search. Of course, you have to call them during the day.
All your responses to her are kind of deficient and should have emphasized the fact that the job has to be in a segregated environment. The job doesn’t have to be halal in and of itself only but also be in a segregated environment. You saying halal only doesn’t necessarily mean that it has to be in a segregated environment but I hope that you meant that it is halal and of itself and in a halal environment.
