@Eihoofd2 But maybe we are like water droplets. We think we die, but we just transform again and again. Living beings are like droplets, but collectively we are like a body of water.
One quote I read about humility that adds to this is. “Stop making everything about yourself”. I like it because it applies to anxiety and pride. “I am great” and “I’m useless” both addressed in this quote. Both quotes are counterproductive to peace because the focus is on the self.
All these principle apply to keanu reeves very briefly, humble, isn't selfish, always credits the contribution of others, shares his experience as other people share theirs. that man is purity, and my inspiration.
In this generation where the competition is always increasing and people aiming for success more than ever, this video really calmed my mind and a calm mind is the golden key to success
The supreme good is like water, which nourishes all things without trying to. It is content with the low places that people disdain. It greatly benefits The Ten Thousand Things, without going against them. In dwelling, it stays grounded. In being, it flows to depths. In expression, it is honest. In confrontation, it stays gentle. In governance it balances. In action, it aligns to timing. It is content with its nature, and therefore cannot be faulted.
what about floods? Floods can definitely go against things. Also, while it reaches a goal without a instantaneous force (excluding floods), it is immortal and has endless time to achieve things and over that time a great deal of force is used. Humans are not immortal
“Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend.” ~ Bruce Lee
"Be like a rock, strong, immovable, when water comes at rock, water just gets out of the way...when rock comes at you, you get out of the way....be like rock" - Holy Trash
Harmony is community Community is unity of purpose Unity of purpose is strength What is good for the community is good for everyone A voice raised against the group must be SILENCED The community must prevail There is strength in numbers

I recently discovered Tai Chi, and through this practice first began to understand Taoism on a practical level. It's been changing my life for the better, too, in surprising ways. Well spoken, Mr. Tang, and good luck in the future.
I like this idea cuz I stopped leaving the house. There isn't much out there for me; I'm either disgusted or just bored of engaging with other people. I kept going out and doing social things, only to come home disappointed. Just about everything has lost its meaning for me, and having people criticize my reclusiveness makes me feel bad about myself. I don't see the problem with it, especially if I'm not bothering anyone, and of course I have to go out and engage the world for food and supplies. My separation isn't fueled by a phobia. I'm going to tell people, "Hey, I'm content with my nature, so I can't be faulted!" I'll see how that goes over! Great talk...and yes of course I'm engaging with people on RU-vid, but out of the population of the world, I'm listening to a select INTELLIGENT few. My life doesn't revolve around advancing a career so I can buy the latest gadget or iPhone, or watching the Super Bowl. I'm composing this on an iPad that's 10 yrs old and works just fine.
Thank you Raymond for sharing your learnings from Water... fantastic way of presenting it such simple but profound teachings of Taoism. I truly relate and aim to live by its principles.... I would love to understand the teachings of water when because of other forces, strong winds, tides, earth quakes.. it absorbs/transform its energy into huge waves, floods, tsunamis, etc... and generates such unintended pain and suffering? .... I have not been able to find such answer.... and I am certain that there is a loving and wonderful teaching behind it.
i love this! it is so close to my own philosophy of life, i always get really excited when i see huge youtube channels (like TED) post videos that are so similar to my own content 😄
1 Peter 5:5-6 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.
“Do nothing out of contentiousness or out of egotism, but with humility consider others superior to you, as you look out not only for your own interests, but also for the interests of others”
Knowing that this paragraph is just a tiny part of this book. I kindly invite everyone to read it, 道德经 / Dao De Jing / Tao Te Ching. Also we should note that it is an ancient book, so, there are some (or many) paragraphs that require further research and/or reflexion. Even in Chinese they can have several meanings. It is never too late to start ! 🙂
REFLECTION: This is what made Bruce Lee the greatest of all. He believed in the philosophy of water. The key to humility is not being silent, but openness and willing to adapt. thanks for the presentation.
HUMBLE: reflecting, expressing, or offered in a spirit of deference or submission. (Merriam-Webster) A humble church will never ask you to stop visiting the church wthout having a conversation with you.

Water is the most underrated thing in this world. No one’s caring about Water, but try to remove that everyone lose their minds. Also all civilizations starter around the water.
Im crying, I wanted to be rich so I stay with rich people even though I dont know them that much. I just think that staying close with them will get me also rich but now Im comparing myself and thinking that Im rich and I look down to people because I have trauma, I think theyll just hurt me when I am so kind and just ALWAYS be here for them that is why I act bossy right now to look scarier but deep inside I am so soft and my mind overthinks so much

I love this but let me share an insight about how I think of water. I agree that to be like water is to learn to adapt and let uncontrollable things occur. However, unlike water, I believe we have the freedom to choose our paths and unlike water, there must be no pressure to go along the mainstream because unlike water, we have feelings, and unlike water, we do not have to always fit in.
“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.” ― Bruce Lee
