My thoughts exactly- they had to change the lyrics for their performance of two player game in another TV performance and they still managed to keep the lyrics meaningful and amazing - so much talent in this musical I acc love it
The lyric changes were fucking GREAT, damn. I love the original lyrics, but him saying 'voices in my head' gave me chills lol. Also I love that he couldn't wear the full show outfit since in this scene he's wearing shorts and calf-high weed socks lmao.
i love the changed lyrics for the integration with what happens in the rest of the show as well. how the voices in our heads aren’t artificial (as they are with the squip) nor are they necessarily positive (as they mostly are in the show’s conclusion). idk just the callback is neat

When I first found Be More Chill - there was no fan fictions, no fan art, no nothing. Only a select few who had found the music and shared it. Within a few months there was art and stories and fan videos everywhere. It’s been so special to me not only as a fan who has had their life impacted but also to watch the popularity grow and get the recognition it deserves!
Oof at the end he looks like he is in so much pain and ready to cry and the fact that he switches away from that at the end is amazing he is such a good actor.
He always seems nervous straight away, then after a few lines he's like, "Nah fuck it, I got this." If it's genuine, he's adorable. If it's acting, he's a genius.
I love this musical and it’s just so moving with all the friendship, romance, drama and everything. I’m normally just a joke to my friends when I say how much I love musicals, but even they adore this one and I don’t blame them, who couldn’t love this?! Holy shit, I was not expecting a lyric change still so true to the original media! 'Voices in my head'?! Sticking with the theme! 'Berate and hate on me'?! I love how this still gives the 'anxious to the point of self-loathing/suicide' vibe the original song gave, but is also an important message in and of itself, that depressed thoughts are 'voices in your head' that can be learnt to get used to and not have them affect you, if you see them as disconnected from yourself, which I think is one of the whole messages about the musical told in a tiny little line. Holy heck.
@Ally The obsesser Gonna answer this as someone that's heard full audio of the show from several different nights (including as recently as last week) and yes, that part is still there. It's a little different than in the previews/off-broadway version though. (spoiler) Rich sings part of Halloween while glitching out and crying, and then he says "If I can't get you out of my head...then I'll burn you out." He exits the stage and it immediately goes into The Smartphone Hour.
possibly- berate and ? ...but same difference. they, or joe, usually kills it when censoring... but the complete eviction of the I'm a creeper in the bathroom verse was odd. "fake pee" doesn't seem too bad? Or the network gods were like nope too long, cut 14 seconds!

It’s amazing. It’s my favourite song from BMC and every time I hear it, I get weirdly emotional 🙈💔 I just can’t stop watching George perform, he is insanely talented. ⭐️ Also, I LOVE the changing of the words, now I can actually sing it in public and people won’t look at me like I lost my mind 😂👋🏻
It's so nice to see this show blowing up on Broadway. Looovvveeeeed be more chill since day 1 back in 2015. So wonderful. Michael is such a dream role for me.
I got to see this show right before it closed. My niece who is 11 highly recommended it. I don't think this show would only appeal to teenagers and college age kids. I highly enjoyed the show and I am in my later 30s.. The show was super unique IMO. And 'Michael in the Bathroom' is definitely my favorite musical number from the show. That said, I can understand how this shows might not appeal to most of the elderly audience. I think technology confuses many elderly people (not all but many). I don't know that many of them would understand the concept behind the show. FE, my grandma and my mom would never understand this show...computers, smart phones, The Matrix, etc are completely out of grandma's grasp of understanding while my mom pretends to understand but she can only use very basic functions on her smart phone and computer and even then she has to ask tons of question. But I think it could definitely appeal to anyone who understands technology, and who doesn't understand about the pressures of trying to 'fit in' during high school'.
I realized that George Salazar also does the thing where he unintentionally tries to push his glasses up without using his hands, he just wrinkles his nose (i can't describe it very well, you can see it at 4:19) and I love that because I do it too but I've never seen anyone else do it. It's just a tiny thing but now I don't feel so alone with doing it anymore
“this is me at a party.” yes, i’m very sure that this happens to you at every high school party you go to: your best friend is manipulated by a computer in his head, and when you try to warn him about it, he pushes you away, calls you a loser, and then you promptly have a panic attack minutes before the house you’re in burns down. y’know, me at every party.
This scene hits me right in the feels, because this exact thing has happened to me. The 'loser', panic attack, hiding in the bathroom, hating myself. All. Of. It.
I’m pretty sure how it works is that you have to be at least half way through the vid before it shows up as a “view” so some people like the video right away before they’ve watched it.
Real talk, I can understand why the original run of BMC didn't last long. It's choreography and sets were static and kind of awkward. But now, this show is practically in its own league.
wizardgry ? He’s not nominated. Plus (and ONLY for Be More Chill, I still think he’s insanely talented) he doesn’t really... deserve one. Thing is, Michael is a small role with only five minutes to TRULY shine (MITB). Five minutes is not worth a Tony.
