Only that computing power increased tens of thousands of times per given volume to say the least, if not hundreds of thousands of times. Besides, @lycanthoss is right. I think the new Dark Rocks are still smaller than the NH-D15.

Nice. I bought the Dark Rock Pro 4 earlier this year, but this is probably a worthy upgrade. I run mine on top of a 7800X3D inside a Fractal Define 7 Compact case. I wonder if theres any offset brackets for Ryzen 7000 series that fits for this cooler. That would be an epic win, and a truly worthy upgrade. Not super-pleased with the temperatures at the moment.. it is silent though. :)
@Durayne
@Durayne 9 месяцев назад
There are no offset brackets planned so far according to hardware canucks. What are your temperatures? Mine Peaked out at 82° all core workload (compile job). Ambient I dont know anymore, must have been around 24° as it was early summer. Also DRP4 7800x3d. Fractal Design Torrent. DRP4 was an old one salvaged from my previous system.
@keffmode
@keffmode 9 месяцев назад
@@Durayne Thanks for the info about the offset brackets! Thats a bummer. I have 2x silent wings 4 140MM in the front, 1x 120MM in the back, and run them all at 35%, and I have a very flat fan curve on the Dark Rock Pro 4 around 750rpm. I have a big focus on it being quiet. Temperatures are usually around 50c in idle, and around 70-75 when i game. Though sometimes when miniscule stuff like an game update can rush the temperatures up to 83c~ package temp. When i do a AIDA64 stress test it goes to around 80c, but my system stays very quiet. I had a different 7800X3D at launch that was way cooler than this one. I had quite alot of boot problems with my system, and I had to swap motherboard, RAM & CPU to make it all work. It was probably 5-7 degrees cooler with everything on the same setting. Sadly it was a dud and gave me boot problems.
@Durayne
@Durayne 9 месяцев назад
@@keffmode Well my focus is usually silence too. Unfortunately the fractal Torrent Compact Front intakes (180mm ones) are hard to get really silent. At 35% pwm they are acceptable for me though. Mine is at 34-39° idle. 50-70° in gaming, depending on game. But undervolted all core -35. All stable except battlefield 5 when expo (6000cl30) is enabled or any ram speed above 5200. BF5 then just causes insta hard reset. And I cant reproduce the issue with any stress testing tool, lol.

@Durayne

@@keffmode Did it directly in the uefi. I can not use ryzen master - using arch btw (haha that had to be). Btw I was just reminded by that post that I could do some cleaning on my rig and I am currently on fine tuning my fans. My system idles out somewhere slightly below 50° with no fans spinning at all. At your own risk: Take that with a grain of salt, but maybe you should check your mounting pressure. I know I did mine pretty high and since the main point for the 7800x3d is basically getting the heat away from the IHS slightly incorrect mounting can have a huge impact on temperatures.

Oh the 5th pin on the proprietary plug might be for the speed control from Q to P. Otherwise I was thinking about just re-pinning it to a regular PWM from another broken fan. I'm sure I can still do that by taking 2 broken PWM fans and rewiring the DARK ROCK fans and just use the MOBO to control the speeds on both the CPU fan and OPT fan. LIKE I WOULD NORMALLY DO!

I would like to see Thermalright Frost Commander 140 (FC 140) vs be quiet! Dark Rock Elite for my 5800X And if I win the giveaway, I can gladly make that comparison by myself ! As for the product name for the new screwdriver : "SilentScrew" can be my suggestion 🤣

The guys from Hardware Canucks would disagree. So who should us, the mere mortals listen to? I would want to change my whole system, and I really am Be quiet fanboy. I have the Dark Rock Pro 4, as well is my case. Several other reviewers like this but over the years, Hardware Canucks were very helpfull for me, and they disagree with this cooler. Would this suit a 13700KF?

All these custom molded plastic frames, mounts and rails are disguisting and preventhing these fans from being used anywhereelse. As are these custom connectors. No matter the performance and price I wouldn't buy this. Just give me standard PWM connectors and normal fans that can be used elsewhere if I ever want to slap some other onto the heatsink.

You don't seem impressed by the screwdriver, so it must be a " Cheap Shiv 5 Pro™ " guess

Good point about the fan hub being the least effective area for air flow. Nice idea to have a heat sink above the contact point to the Heat spreader. The fan adjustment is not nice, sounds bad, but is easier than the wire clips. Yep why have a quiet mode switch on a CPU cooler... just set the fan curves. Impressive that it can cool 320w. But it is big, heavy, and expensive. And of course the screwdriver... skinny, light, to compensate for the extra thick heavy cooler? Perhaps?

Some motherboards force 100% fan speeds on boot regardless of fan curves. That's why hardware rpm limits make sense to make the boot less noisy.
@Jules_Diplopia
@Jules_Diplopia 9 месяцев назад
@@4Leka For the 30-90 seconds of a boot sequence, that still seems excessive. Think about it. Have to remove side panel of pc, to switch cooling fan to low, before booting pc, then switch it back before replacing the panel. Honestly any physical switch on "internal" components, is for open test bench systems, not ordinary users.
@4Leka

@@Jules_Diplopia No you just keep it limited if you don't need the full blast performance. With most cpus you don't if you have decent case ventilation.

This is one hell of cooler, truely the benchmark for air coolers. I heard Noctua has new cooler slotted for next year, it's going to be a though competition for sure.

Dont use it on the Ryzen 7000 series. I ve an 7800x3d and in gaming 2k never went below 78 to 82 C , changing to a Kraken 360 dropt down to 58 to 63 C same Game same condicon . Works perfecto with Ryzen 3000 and 5000 series but not with the 7000

These are still outperformed by much cheaper Thermalright coolers like the PS 120 SE and FS 140.

compare this to the thermalright assassin, or the arctic freezor 2 360 which i run on a measly 7800 x3d, with pbo on it never goes above 65 c and is silent
