Love the build, quick question, you had 9 rgb fans in total, did you daisy chain the rgb together, use an external rgb hub, or a mix of the two?

The SSD mounting bracket in the right side ( place for 2 ssd's ) is quite difficult to install the power and SATA cables on. I have a MX500 and a KingSpec 1TB DRAM ssd installed and it's tight fit.

Great build, but you should install your radiator the other way, with the hoses at the bottom.

@Alistair a great question, it looks pretty tight in there. but in a couple years he might be wondering why his cooler pump is whining. it's because he installed the radiator hoses up. as air bubbles form in the radiator, they will collect at the top and cause problems. the alternative is to move the radiator to the top of the case.

Hi Chris Brilliant build, question would a RTX 3080 three fan gpu fit in the same case with a Corsair 360 h150i rgb pro XT mounted on the front. I am going to build my first gaming pc at the age of 57 simply due to your videos, my only worry is setting up the bios correctly. Thanks again for awesome videos.

I recently purchased this case as well. Still using it with my old motherboard and CPU, which doesn't have any RGB headers. I have the front LED connected to the SATA power so I can control it on the front panel, but is it possible to plug it into a controller like the corsair one you have here? It looked like you plugged in the 5v RGB onto the motherboard, so maybe not. The corsair fan hub you use plugs into a USB header, right? I think you commented that on the thermal testing video. I got some Deep Cool fans that didn't come with a controller and use 12v RGB. I mean, I don't have that on my motherboard, either. But I did order their controller with an additional Deep Cool RF fan, but it'll be a week or so before that arrives. That will give me some RGB from fans, at least, but won't let me sync them up with software with the front panel. I'm probably struggling with this for no real reason, as my motherboard and cpu were purchased in 2014 (i7 5820k and MSI X99S sli plus) and I plan to get either the new MSI Mag x570 Tomahawk or new 550 boards when they're released. In the meantime, though... would I have been able to just buy the same corsair fan 3 pack and use their hub to plug in the front panel LED or would that not work?

no one is talking about the EATX board in an ATX case? it can fit same with the x570 xtreme by gigabyte which is 100% a better looking board but so much more expensive but you may need to dremel the side bar a little depending on your plugs ive seen someone say (exact same case).

Are you able to fit the 3.5" drive cage in with that cooling setup? I was planning a similar build but it includes a 3.5" drive and I want to be able to mount it on the case while having a 360mm push pull rad

Great video Christopher, I'm looking at a similar build myself, out of curiosity... Did you connect the RGB fans to the Corsair fan hub, and the hub to the JCORSAIR header on the board, then the fan PWM connectors to the Deepcool hub, and onto a system fan header on the motherboard to set the fan curves and lights in the bios, or use another method?? I'm looking at my build being dual boot (windows/Linux) and wanting to get such settings in the bios to provide the same 'experience' on both OS...

Thanks Christopher, I think I should be ok as I’m looking at using the Kraken x73, keeping the non-RGB fans as the pull part of the config, so I’ll only have 6 LL 120 (3 push intake and the 3 exhaust). I’m considering a PWM hub for the 6 radiator fans to connect them to the CPU fan header, then the 6 LL 120 through the Corsair hub into the JCORSAIR header and the case ARGB into a rainbow header. The exhaust fans into system fan headers. My theory being the RGB is all synced in bios and I can balance the fan intake vs exhaust for cooling performance, system noise and air pressure inside the case. Thanks again, I’ve found a number of your videos very professional and informative heading into my first build.

I was more focused on the longevity of the cooler. With the nlets at the top of the radiator it can be an issue overtime causing the pump not to function well or even whine.

How much do the screws on the left side glass window stick out? I'm considering this case for my build but have to fit it in a small desk cabinet with 24cm width. Since the 500dx is 23.2cm wide without screws, will it fit my desk with the screws on?

Can be fixed with anti sag bracket. The GPU is heavy.

I bought this case, the Dark Rock Pro 4, three Pure Wings 2 fans in addition, and Straight Power 850W. Why did you replace the 'Be quiet' with the Corsair ones? The vinaigrette...What's the point? Ads?... Anyway, the build is awesome... Thanks

Great build except for the major overkill on the push pull, the benefit of those six fans would not equal the cost, three would be ample, I'm guessing you would be lucky to get about 2-4 deg better cooling if any at all. Just noticed you have the top fans set up as exhaust, would it not be more efficient to have them as intake?

Hi Christopher ! After watching this vid I decided to build a similar PC. I've the same RGB components, but I purchased a different mainboard (Gigabyte AORUS Elite X570). Now I'm totally confused about connecting all RGB fans (those from corsair and from deepcool castle). Is it correct, that I have to use everything (RGB hub from Corsair + Lighting node + the components from Deepcoll + the FH10 Hub from Deepcool ?). At the end I would have to connect three SATA for the fans and one from the case ? Is there any simple way to show me the correct connections ? WOuld appreciate very much any help !

I have ordered that case for my next build. But in my opinion, your build is RGB fan overkill. The 3 in the back are ok, but in the front, I would just use 3 standard fans push configuration.

Just curious, why use the front for just cpu cooling when you have not efficient airflow if you put the AIO on the top of the case, and had regular fans and airflow going straight through the case?

@@eepy_catgirl That's true. I'm however a little worried about having the tubing come out of the bottom of the pump instead of the top since air could more easily get trapped in the pump that way even if it is lower than the top part of the radiator.

@@0mar5636 there should not be any problem with it. you can put any 240 in 500DX. front or top with tubes facing at any direction. the only problem is to put 320 tubes down.

@@ChristopherFlannigan Yeah i think i'm just gonna leave it how it is. The case comes with 3 pre-installed fans so i can connect them to the motherboard i don't think it's necessary to upgrade the fans,, idle at 500 rpm and under load at the maximum of 900 i believe.

Very nice video! I've been trying to find help with a question about this case. The internal RGB strip and the exterior dual RGB strips on this specific case: Do they require two separate ARGB header connections? In other words, if I buy a motherboard with only 2 ARGB connections then both of those would be immediately taken up by the case alone? Thanks, I hope you can help me. I'm planning on buying this specific case with the ASUS ROG B450 and the 3 pack Corsair LL120mm fans just like you had. Wondering if I'll have enough ARGB header ports.

I'm slightly confused by this case's specified gpu clearance compared to your build. 500dx supposedly has 369mm of gpu space with front fans installed. The radiator is 27mm thick and the fans are 25mm thick, so that should leave 317mm for the gpu. That gpu is meant to be only 305mm long, yet it looks like it only just fits. Am I missing something, or is that tiny looking gap of left over space legitimately 12mm wide and I just can't judge distance on video? lol thanks

Follow up question. I'm looking to build in this case with a front AIO. If I come across GPU clearance issues, what do you think is the best solution. Just have the radiator as a push? Or add some slim pull fans on? Ty

I have just bought this case and a B550 motherboard with 2 ARGB headers on it, but i cant figure out to get the case to light up! Please help.

In case you are still wondering, you first need to connect the sata power cable from the PSU to the (quite strange looking) sata connector of the 500DX. Then you can toggle the case RGB input by pressing the LED button on the panel for quite some seconds (about 3). You need "case-mode" if you don't connect the ARGB to the motherboard yet, and with a short press on the button you can switch between 28 light modes, where you have to be mindful as "off" might be active mode yet. If you now see any light you may next try the ARGB control from the motherboard: Plug in the ARGB cable to any of the two ARGB headers and start the PC. Depending on the motherboard manufacturer you may install different control software or you can use OpenRGB. (All manipulation at the cables should be done with disconnected PSU for obvious reasons.)

Witam, może mi ktoś podpowiedzieć jak w tej obudowie podpiąć dodatkowe wentylatory argb. Z panelu sterowania wychodzi wtyczka 4 pin wygląda na RGB. Przylutowalem gniazdo do styków od przedniego panelu ale to nie profesjonalnie niby działa ale nie steruje mi wszystkimi diodami. Mam tą wersję bez dodatkowego huba.

@@ChristopherFlannigan You put the dust filter on the top but you also have two exhaust fans at the top.. that dust filter will restrict the airflow and make the fan overwork. Those dust filters are 'one way' , unless of course, you turn it over.

There are 14 fans in that machine 🥴 Front installing a radiator that blows hot air into the case is a really bad idea. You're blowing all that hot air right into your case, completely defeating the purpose of cooling. You'd be better off reversing the air flow and expelling out the front if you absolutely insisted on keep a front mounted radiator.
