For millions of people, the music of the Beach Boys is the soundtrack of their childhood.
In this Zevely Zone, I went to Mission Beach to take a stroll on the sand with a living legend.
San Diego is known for sunshine, surf and sand, something Mike Love, co-founder of the Beach Boys, turned into hit song after hit song. If you grew up in San Diego, you remember concerts by the Beach Boys after Padres games.
Mike is back on our beaches to promote the launch of his new family-owned rum. On March 19, Club Kokomo Spirits, the company known for award-winning canned cocktails introduced a brand-new line of premium artisanal rums.

Mike Love and Brian Wilson need to put their differences aside and reunite for a tour! Love these guys!

Brian is in no way in any shape to tour. Besides, The Beach Boys died when Carl died IMO.

Their tour was in 2012. Mike is in his 80's, continues to tour with Bruce Johnston and their band (they are dreadful) and Brian has dementia.

Given his Wilson cousins' struggles with substance abuse (including alcohol, which was especially the downfall of Dennis) and the fact his maternal side (the Wilsons) were rife with a dark streak of that sort of vice, it's a bit surprising a supposedly peaceful and meditative guy like Mike Love would invest in such an endeavour. Then again, never doubt his zeal to promote the brand that is the Beach Boys and/or him.
