love it, I ran it down on the charts before the end , 21S, 159W .The cook islands, no that can't be right , I thought , then at the end ,Rarotnga, I said Ahhh yes , that ties in with your book . But how did we get there and why did we go? To escape the winters of California , to be with friends from the islands, time with the family .?We do need the philosophy behind this , and another sail .
There is also a movie version (starring Michael York, Jenny Agutter, and Simon MacCorkindale), audio book, radio drama, and a sequel of sorts by another author, Sam Llewellyn, "Shadow in the Sands". Of all of those, my favorite is the original book. Enjoy!
One of my Favs. Twice I’ve read it, I enjoyed it that much! Learned so very much of that “low country”, the east and West Frisian Islands, now German and Dutch, respectively. The movie was just OK, just nothing close to my imagination while reading the book. Fascinating man the author Childers, turned out to be. Bottom line was due to Childers book, partially anyways, provided Churchill the impetus to lay the groundwork to protect England from such an invasion, from the North Sea! Now, I’m off to find that somewhat sequel that Tod Mills, commented on here. Enjoy! 👍
