On the hunt at Budleigh beach for a double figure fish, using all baits, rigs, day and night fishing, over low and high tides. Rods: Zziplex M4GT's Reels: Penn Pathom 15's magged
sound proof Cheers Martin, I can only hope, try my best and be lucky. You up for a few sessions either LRF or beach fishing around the Exmouth area mate?
Nice video, always enjoyable as local beaches (I live in Honiton) akin to yourself, I have never caught a double figure fish from the shore (although have had some nice rays and smoothhounds in the 8lb plus bracket) but never a double Good luck to yourself and I will watch your coming videos to see if you succeed Go Steady. - Derek
Derek Jefferson Cheers, I have caught double figure fish locally but not from Budleigh, I know of a Cod that was caught there a few years ago that went at about 14lb and a Bass at 13lb so they are there, just got to hope one turns up and takes the bait. 👍
I hear you on the double , something im super keen for ...just need to find the time to get out ….that and the weather at the same time ….im really not asking for much ey?.lol
A Devon Kayak Fisher the last big fish I caught was a 11.8lb Undulate Ray from Sidmouth, two years ago now so was hoping to get something big before the end of the year. 👍
gary murray thanks, My go to rods for Budleigh are Zziplex M4GT's paired with Penn Pathom 15's which have been magged, 20lb mainline and 70lb shock leader. If I fish over the rocky area then I'll increase to 30lb mainline and 100lb leader. Sometimes I'll just use a estuary rod 2-3oz and fish in close for Bass with big baits or smaller baits for Gurnard etc. during the summer.
Nick Epton thanks, from Budleigh it's possible for anything to turn up but I might have a chance of a Conger, Bullhuss or Bass. A Bullhuss of 8.9lb is my biggest so far from Budleigh. 👍
richard .tasker it's local to me so if I've got a spare few hours I'll fish there, it's been good for me as I've caught quite a few species from there. 👍
Do you fish into the Estuary side? I've fished budleigh 3 x spinning and twice with beach caster and blanked every time! I went spinning this morning and there were some fish trapped in the estuary feeding and breaching and I threw a jelly worm in there for a few casts but nothing. Thought they might be bass.
paulockleford Hi mate, sorry for the late reply as I didn't get a notification of your comment. I do fish the entrance to the river for Mullet using a Mepps spinner with a bit of ragworm using my Lure rod.
Yes mate, got them from Gerry's, the service and delivery time was all good. I've had them for nearly 6 years now and have only had to replace the shrink tubing. 👍
Yes I do use Mackerel baits like that either close in or at range and have had good results, it just depends on how I feel like fishing. I also use whole Mackerel on big circle hooks and have had big Conger Bass and Huss but not yet from Budleigh. Cheers, G.
Cheers. There's two car parks, the town car park which is free after 6pm and about a few minutes walk to the western end of the beach, or the main beach car park at the river Otter end and that's next to the beach, so it's a good easy access beach to fish. I haven't had many Ray's from Budleigh, Sidmouth (the next main beach up) is your best bet for Ray's.
@@TedGreenBeachFishing thanks for the reply, tried Seaton nothing and lyme regis will calling round tomorrow I'm here for two days fishing will have to go with frozen baits and have a go with the lures
Andrew White didn't take them that time but I'd use the fish length to fish weight conversation, I use that method when fishing for Wrasse, Bass, Flounder etc. I'd use scales for Rays, Smoothounds, Bullhuss. 👍
