Your videos keep getting better, catching fish is sometimes secondary, giving a feeling for why you are fishing in a particular location often tells a better story than showing lots of fish to the camera.

I do try and quite often succeed but it isn’t just about catching fish that I enjoy. I love being outdoors, on the shore, in my boat and out in the weather. I think a whole generation have forgotten the joys of just being amongst it. Fishing is almost an excuse to be there but soon becomes an addiction. I hope that describes it in some small part. 🎣🦈👍🏻

Another great video thanks Mark - shame no Flounder. Looking forward to the next outing! Certainly looked a bit rough & windy there, horrendous wind and rain late last night here, about 200Km West of you. Despite reports of huge Whiting from around the coast, not seen any sizable ones here yet. Tried for 'Tings a couple of times and just caught Pout! I know you were using size 4 hooks for the Flounder, but I might try your rigs for bigger 'Tings with 1/0 or 2/0 hooks. Stay safe & well! 🎣🎣👍👍

A nice rig to try would be a straight forward 2 hook clipped down using 2/0 hooks.

loads of tiny tings are comeing out at the mo, but of all the sea fishermen on youtube you have done very well of 2021. some raelly nice fish, tight lines for 22, cheers pal

I’ve been really pleased with this year and had some lovely PB’s. I would really like a stingray from boat or shore this year and I will be targeting a shore caught conger over the next couple of months.

Hi Mark, like you, as a boy, I used to catch those flounders from Hamble and all along to Weston Shore. There were loads then but the only one I've had recently (in the last five years) has been off the boat down the river near Williams shipyard and it wasn't a stonker either. I think the arrival of the odd seal in Southampton Water has made a real difference to numbers too recently. Nice vid though, all the same - thank you. Keep it up!

It would be very easy to hide the blanks and only ever show the best catches but where is the fun in that?🤷‍♂️ The lows only highlight the highs imo. Happy New Year buddy. 🎣👍🏻

Hay buddy great video again I was down ensign way Thursday night we had doggies and whiting I have found over the last 9 months that night fishing hamble is the way to go as the dragnetters are out there during the day and it has in my opinion destroyed the fishing out at hamble right up to western shore they are coming in so close you could wade out to them anyway nights fishing hamble really good try round off the rocks some rays come off there cracking video buddy see you on the next one

I agree on everything you have said there as I see those clam boats out there dragging and they do come in very close. I’m going to target the area from Meon to Hamble in the spring. 🎣👍🏻

Lovely to see a local video, RodsAngleUK recently caught a flounder on shore road. In the Hamble river, I’ve caught microscopic schoolies on bait but the larger on lure (4.5lb largest) with no flounder in the last year. I think the Hamble area now is loaded with bass, big and small, with not much else except for a few hounds. However, in front of the Hamble car park, there was a thornback ray carcass that had washed up a few years back.

2 years ago there was a stingray caught at the car park and all along that shoreline at low tide you can see their lay-ups. Shore road is a good hound mark with some decent sized bass. I was catching bass 4-5 at a time on feathers this summer whilst trying for mackerel.

Great video mark the night filming was absolutely brilliant as was the day filming even if you didn’t catch anything it’s not always about catching it’s just good to get out and free your mind all the best for 2022 looking forward to whatever you have coming up

Happy new year mark, Great vids as always. I love seeing my local spots fished. I used too catch a load of flounder on the old Woolston jetty early 2000s. Plenty of sole caught at town quay if that makes things better lol

Hello Mark, great videos keep them coming, flounder like moving baits, use high viz leads, try size zero blades on the rigs and wind in a short distance every so often it can provoke a take worth a try,

Nice one Mark. Great series of videos over the Christmas break. Standard of production is always top notch, really look forward to your videos. With that loop rig I would worry about if it's fishing right all the time, hence why I avoided it. Cheers!

Evening Eoin, I understand your concern because I had the same but honestly I’ve had no tangles and it has released cleanly. It is a clean ground rig as the bottom snood is trailing and could snag but as long as that is accounted for, happy days. 🎣👍🏻

Persistence pays and you have to put the time in and all of the cliches but it’s true. Hopefully the distance travelled tomorrow will produce flounder but they won’t be southampton water flounder. 😉

Great vid again but such a shame the flounder aren't around like they usec to be... We always usec to start for them around October time but over the years I've found they show later and later with late January early February being better nowadays

I was waiting for the lighter, longer days. I ended up with a Transit Custom Sport swb, twin slider. Perfect for towing and goes really well. Under 2.0 meters so it can get into beach car parks, drive throughs and multi-storeys.

Mate if you been fishing Hamble point you should know its one off the worst places in the south off England to fish! Even years ago it was shite unless you no the suss which you should do! I used to make a living here catching good bass!

There has been flounder caught in front of the common to the right of the gun placement. It was a last ditch attempt at a southampton water flounder and that itch still remains unscratched. 🤨

Hi Mark it gets dredged for oyster there alot now seen them 3 or 4 boats each time that probably doesn't help mate I haven't caught a flounder for quite a while now where have they all gone 😕

I have seen the dredges as well and it does seem relentless. I believe in rotation and giving areas a rest. At least a few seasons to allow recovery.

Mark have you tried the Sheppy rig or a sole rig they work pritty well where I fish on the thames at tilbury.

Basically it's a three hook pully rig you can make the snoods long or short as you want.

How big? Still a crap spot! Not so far from there in a dinghy I caught 33 dovers in daytime up to 2lb 12 ounce, a while ago I admit!

@@shaunpreston2839 strangely enough my PB shore caught sole was 2 3/4lb from the next gun placement further along to the right many years ago. The best mark for sole I know is a boat mark not far from there.
