I spent two sessions at the same venue targeting Smooth Hounds and experimenting with rigs and baits. With only a small weather window on the first day and glorious sunshine on the second, I soon hook into possibly my largest shore caught Hound. But was it a double?
Park Shore is a private section of beach belonging to the Beaulieu estate and requires a permit to fish/park.
Tickets can be bought as a day ticket or annual pass and are available from the Beaulieu offices. There are signs clearly detailing contact numbers.
This time of year usually see a good run of Smooth Hounds before the dreaded "May Rot" where blanket weed seriously effects shoreline fishing. The recent unseasonal cold weather seems to have had an effect with numbers down as well as size.
