Trying to prove that this time, Beach Fossils made a mistake because this is exactly the same riff of Pretty Vacant, try to read man. I love Beach Fossils
DickSocrates yeah who a band appeals to reallys alot about them. so when were you first able to use this interpreting skill of yours to determine wether bands sucked or not?
it's great but i'm sorry all I can hear is new order/joy division to re-brand it as beach pop is just silly, this and DIIV- Doused (which just sounds like a cure/british post punk track). I'm a big fan of captured tracks as a label but just don't see as much personality in ^those two bands. Mac Demarco and Juan Wauters I Love! feel their stance is far more unique
maybe you're just projecting a standard based on joy division and new order on to diiv and beach fossils because they have similiar guitar tones and song sturcture. maybe it can be appreciated for being an original reproduction of a sound we're familiar with... nah...it sounds to close to something else so i'm not impressed... :(
Caleb Richardson I think it's a nice track but I get fed up of bands trying to sound close to something that's been imitated so many times over and over in indie rock especially
I've heard this arguement applied to other bands. I don't deny the similiariteis. few bands can imitate a style succesfully, let alone recreate a style/genre into something new. I think these boys have a style of playing that they know how to play well. it's not necessarilly their fault that their sound turned out this way. this is probably just how they play well and that's certainly not a bad thing because a lot of people want to keep hearing this sound as well as this band forever. sorry you can't get behind it but i myself love joy dvision and new order as well as beach fossils diiv wild nothing real estate and all else akin to the sound we've been discussing. I just can't help but to like it.
I'm just glad there's still people still reproducing that sound! All those beach rock/pop bands may not sound completely new, but it is still a new sound and seeing the acts live is about 10X better with crazy ass ppl on the same vibe as you.
Listen to Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers, watch his videos also and you will understand that neither Mac nor Juan invented this nonchalance on stage nor the figure of the funny guy. Btw I don't understand the influence of NO or JD on the song 'Clash the truth'. You're wrong.
