Cool video Mike! My wife and I were at Memories Flamenco in 2017 and again in 2018 after Maria and Irma hit the island. What a difference in the beach. In '17 there was tons of vegetation and fish right off the beach to snorkel with. In '18 NO vegetation and NO fish! Also, the beach change shape tremendously! To the left of the resort was a narrow point and that was bigger and wider after the hurricanes. To the right, where you were in this video, in '17 it was hard to get to the point. The beach was very narrow and the water next to the beach was too deep to walk in comfortably. In '18 the whole corner of the beach had filled in and was very similar to what you were walking on. I could see Lenny's from the point and would have loved to have walked to it but I was sketched out by the tide and how long a walk it would have been. I agree with "you get what you pay for in Cuba". I enjoyed my time in Cuba both times but my wife got really sick after our last trip and is scared to go back now. I wished I had taken more videos of the beach when I was there in '17 to compare to what it is like now as it is so different. I do have a RU-vid video from 2018 if you're interested and a few snorkeling videos from 2017. Here's the one from 2018 if you're interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zBsvHBYIqqQ.html&ab_channel=FunAfter50 Cheers, John
For adults only we loved Melia Cayo Coco- along the same beaches as Memories Caribe and the Pullman. Was an incredible recharge from the Hussle bustle of life. 3 hour flight and you're in paradise for the ultimate R&R
Can't wait to go to Memories Flamenco, heading there in January. Haven't been to Cayo Coco yet but we have been to Santa Maria. I appreciate all your info and looking forward to Beautiful CUBA!
My wife and I love that walk we made it 1.5km from Lenny’s and turned around, took taxi to Lenny’s next day👍going back to sol cc march 24 maybe we will try and walk all the way this time?either way that walk is awesome.if you love peace and quiet and long walks on the beach try Cayo largo Cuba absolutely amazing.
Lenny's is a great stop, we visited Feb/23 can't beat the view and price! We took a cab from Pullman and had a lovely long walk after our lobster meal. I would go back 100%
My husband and I went to Lenny's Lobster Shack. Best meal we had in Cayo Coco. However, we took a cab over. Our resort was too far to walk. Well worth the trip to Lenny's
I'm typically a cruiser, I've done 6 or so throughout a 10 year period. It's a great experience for me that allows me to experience a slice of life in other parts of the world (so far, only the Carribbean). But yeah, it's pricey with sometimes a lot of scheduled restrictions and limitations. Memories Flamenco will be my first Cuba experience around Christmas this year. I can't wait. Food standards, mine is generally high but that's because I work in kitchens. But that being said; because I work kitchens, I'm more appreciative of people who do cook for me for a change. Same with hospitality workers in general. But this walk to Lenny's, I feel I have to do when I go. I like doing nature walks here in Toronto, taking pics where ever I can. I usually walk Charles Sauriol, Scarborough Bluffs, Rouge Urban National, I'm gonna try Morningside Park today to see if there's any salmon jumping. That lookout over the bluffs is calling the photographer in me. Heck, maybe we'll run into each other.
@Finding-Fish Oh, I'll just be glad to have someone cook for me for a change. All while enjoying that lovely looking beach with photogenic scenery all around. This gives me an excuse to upgrade my travel camera kit.
Well said. You totally get it. Thanks for your understanding and sharing your expertise. You keep it dignified. Cubans are the kindest and most supportive people on earth. They sacrifice so foreigners can enjoy their visit. I live in Cuba off resort for 6 month every year. Understanding the realities, and knowing what little Cubans have is life changing.
My wife and I are about to book our 23rd trip to Cuba in 20 yrs of marriage. We love the cuban people and wish nothing but the best for them in the future !.
I'm going the 19th to the 29th to the Gran Memories Resort located in the Peninsula of Ramon, Antilla Holguin. It was opened in 2022, if I'm not mistaken. There's a small town 25 minutes away (Antilla) by the sea with a big hill in the middle of town, which will take you breath away. Absolutely gorgeous view of the sea and the mountains. I was there 7 years ago and I'm going back.
Hey Mike did you go to Memories Flmaminco with your kids? We found an excellent deal for 4 of us for 2500$. We got to Cuba every year so i am with you with the expectations, but would you recommend Memories Flamenco for kids?
Hey thank you!!!! Can’t wait to go back I have a few more Cuba 🇨🇺 videos coming, Just editing now Should be ready for Christmas and the week after Please stay tuned
We went to Cuba for the first time and we loved it! I remember saying it was so wonderful to just enjoy and not think about any of the crazy going on in the world. No wifi, no TV needed. Beautiful, beautiful beaches. Life is simple in Cuba and that felt good....Cuba time ❤
One reason why I keep going back to Cuba is clear water! I understand the ocean has seaweed, but you almost can’t swim/walk at some beaches in Mexico. Going to the Flamenco at the end of March and can’t wait! Love your videos!
Hey Samantha!!! Absolutely we love the water and beach!!!Cuba has them both. When you hit the beach at the Flamenco if you turn left or right you can walk forever it seems.!!!! Enjoy!!!please subscribe if you haven’t already. And we will be back in Cuba soon making more content. have a great holiday 😀
You are right my friend, we wanted to go to New Scotia For the weekend it was more expensive than for a week in an all-inclusive in Cuba for my wife and I. It seems absurd but it is reality
I always keep in mind that there are complications in Cuba, however from Hfx to Cuba for 1 week in March - 1500-2000, I do expect there to be basic food (lacking in both Varadero and Cayo Cruz in 2022 and 2023) , but mostly in 2022 and 2023, it was the bad attidute of the staff. So different than before Covid. If I pay so much for a vacation, then I expect at least what is advertised. That being said I booked Cuba again because of the beach, weather and hopfully the staff attitudes I encounter will be better. Great video!
Awesome Mike! We're heading to Varadero in a few weeks! Look forward to being back in Cuba and filming some new content! Thanks for sharing! Happy Holidays and See you on the next one!
Often the embargo in Cuba is the culprit from many viewpoints, but is see a communist country like China and Russia where people are treated like crap. Great video 😀
Hi Mike, Thank you for your great videos from Cayo Coco! My wife and I love your channel and I'm glad that you're being honest in your reviews of Memories Flamenco and Memories Caribe .Hopefully people understand what they are getting into when they book a Cuba trip and see the incredible beaches and fantastic friendly locals. We will be heading to Memories Caribe for Christmas this year and will be our fourth time there. If you happen to be there as well, it would be great to meet you in person! Thanks again
My husband and I LOVE your videos! Please keep doing what you do. The internet needs positive content like yours... There's too much out there that is toxic. KEEP GOING!!!
Loving the videos and was really looking to get away in the early part of Jan for a "recharge". Unfortunately, prices are in the $1600 to $1900 range for the Memories in Cayo Coco. Forget $700 for 7 days. I'd be willing to go for $1000 or 1100 if I was able to find it. :(
Thanks for watching and your comment Marc!!! When you find Paradise it’s the best!!!! Cuba is amazing and for the love of people beaches and the wind in my face all the best
Hi Mike. Another great video, thanks for sharing. I've been watching your channel for approximately 10 days. Are the prices you quote for trips only the resort fee? I see you sometimes fly Sunwing. Which airport do you fly from? I live in northwestern BC so have to fly to Vancouver or Prince George to get a Sunwing flight. Love Cuba and want to return in 2024. Been to Cayo Santa Maria once. Like you, travel is very important to me. Happy New Year!
wow great video! I'm wondering if you wouldn't mind telling me when you booked your trip and with whom? 700 pp is an amazing deal. We booked with Air Transat for the Melia Jardines for 859 pp for march . thank you
I actually miss the days (only a few years ago) where there really was no internet to speak of in Cuba. That nearly 100% disconnect from home really helps to make you actually relax in a way that you don't even realize you don't ever do at home.
I really enjoyed your video. I'm headed to that resort in a few days. Is there transportation to Lenny's (and other places) for people that can't walk that far?
just ask front desk or the sunwing guy i think its 25 return, but ask around 😀 thanks for watching and please Subscribe if you haven’t already, it really helps me and its free. I'm going back to Cuba soon to make some more videos 😀 stay tuned
@@Finding-Fish thanks! I have subscribed and I found your video with you wife. Great walkthrough I appreciate knowing my surroundings a little before arriving.
Lovely and honeste vidéo with Cuba indeed I am à inconditionnel of Cuba and I dont have any expectation Just love this country and its safety ,Suggestion à video of Playa Paraiso, thank you
Thankyou for making this video, it almost exactly what I wanted to show my wife and your talk along the way was great. I wouldn’t mind seeing a video from you on the Melia Jardine Del Rey, I just subscribed to you and am going to start watching your previous video. Thankyou again and safe travels.
Great video Mike. Loved the one you did with your wife 10 months ago, from the airplane to checkout. Nice work, really gives me a great idea of what to expect when I go. When is your next visit there?
