@glennhfriedman4571 well, I certainly love those guys , but when it comes to good harmony I prefer this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X76ejh4EIV4.htmlsi=njOeOa6GTObR5i6k
@glennhfriedman4571 The Beatles have always been my favorite band since the 60s, but when it comes to great vocal harmonies, the Beach Boys are my go-to band.
Man. anything Willie does he makes his own. So glad I've lived in a time where I could enjoy his music for so many years! Beach Boys too! Love the way Willie has made sure he does duets and projects with so many groups and different genres while he can. Such a wonderful talent. Long live all you guys...
Amazing how the Beach Boys have been able to reconstitute themselves. Carl and Dennis were not easy to replace, and you can talk about nepotism all you want, but Al Jardine's son Matt is phenomenal.
This is a fantastic version of this great song, and Willie`s voice just fits it to a tee. A great song made better? by Willie`s almost soulful voice. A true joining that does justice to the new and old versions. One of the best lyrical stories that they ever told.
When matt jardine carries the highnotes on the melody, the hairs on my neck stand. This is a beautiful version of the original classic.Willie Nelson was class too! LONDON - UK
What an incredible gift this is! Two legends - Brian Wilson and Willie Nelson together appreciating each other's incredible magic. Doesn't surprise me that Mike Love thought he could "instruct" Willie on how to sing the inflections. Just demonstrates how narcissistic he is.
A national treasure those harmonies and a national treasure vocalist..and listen to the depth of feeling in that lyric. The love of my life she left me one day. I cried when she said..I don't feel the same way.
Adding the Willy Nelson touch (harmonica, very light instrumental BG) is a joyous combination and affirmation of American musical genius. I wish the BB’s were paired with Ray Charles.
Far and away my favorite cut on the Stars 'n Stripes album. Willie is just perfect for the song. And contrary to some of the criticisms here, both Mike and Brian obviously thought he hit it out of the park. And, my gosh, those lush background vocals! (And to think Brian was just 21 when he wrote this music!)
This was EXCELLENT as a song and also as a short video the Beach Boys sounded like they were in their 20s again . it’s a bit of a shame they didn’t record a whole album of collaborations . However The Beach Boys did pop up with the group Chicago on wishing you were here .which was also Brilliant as a song 👍🏻🇬🇧
I love it it's so much it's looks good it's looks like Christmas movie conjuring movie part in doing music made into store story about the other money for the first time ever since they are going through his system show documentary about biography book club fun more information about money and make it happen to have years before New York times picture awards TCM hollywood netflix original email money made into store story about the same place looks good 👍 New
Matt Jardine handles falsettos (and beautifully by the way). As of the end of 2015 Matt is with the Brian Wilson band, singing the parts Brian used to sing
I've long recognized Mike Love as a complete horse's ass. But for that yutz to try to tell Willie about phrasing is incalculable idiocy and chutzpah (not a good combo). Phrasing is probably Willie's greatest strength as a singer. He's a master.
Willie sang with some bachata on the duets album he also cut an album of Sinatra standards so I guess he knows how to do phrasing he sang with the master
Willie's treatment of this Beach Boys gem is lovely. I was stunned to learn from Brian's liner notes (in his 2002 collection of his Beach Boys favorites)that this gorgeous song was written the night OF (not before) President John F. Kennedy's assassination. How terribly poignant. "It won't ever die" (unlike our beloved president slain by a murderous conspiracy).
Willie has a great voice and was so classy when dealing with Love trying to boss him around. He must have a lot of patience! That's like a little kindergartner directing a professor!
Mike Love was ( is ) kind of a jerk 🤤 😱 😱 Dennis Wilson dated and/or married Mike Love's daughter or step-by-step daughter.Mike Love was a hothead over that fact. 😵
KINDERGARTENER? ARE YOU NUTS. BRIAN WILSON WAS JUST TRYING TO PROTECT THE BEACH BOYS DESTINCTIVE STYLE. WILLIE IS GREAT, DON'T GET ME WRONG. BUT BRIAN WILSON IS A GENIUS AND IT WAS, IN FACT, HIS SONG.
Mike sued Brian for writers credit on most of the BB hits. Taking advantage of Brian...today there are 2 groups touring as the Beach Boys or the Beach Boys & friends or Brian and friends. Doing Beach boy songs..I'd pick the one without Mike love. He thinks HE IS the BB....
Then what? He is owning the credits and the rigths to arrange that song. What the f. u think guys? He is the writer. You know where back the tool is. Did anyone ever blamed Brian Wilson to follow his weaknesses? fheads.
No Mike was not being an ass to Willie. He was protecting the song as a father would his child. But, when he saw his child was in caring hands he just let it happen. The result. A BEAUTIFUL rendition of the song. Willie will not kill a song.
This is a really great great version of the song I didn't think it was sound that great with Willie Nelson but I was wrong again great version I love it
Brian looks totally intimidating a he monitors the recording, but I can see that he is guarding his creative child. Anyway, an absolutely beautiful cover.
Been a Beach Boys fan from way back. But there was always something about Mike Love that didn't sit well with me. Now I understand. Only a control freak would try to tell Willie Nelson how to perform. And it explains the run-ins with Brian Wilson.
Man. Too touching a tune. Gorgeous the way the Beach Boys original went. But with Willie's voice to it I began to weep re his natural voicing sincerity Dean Jackson Seattle
Omg, where was I when this was remade? Holy mack, I'm so glad I found it, this is awesome on top of awesome... Love them Beach Boys but Willie whacked this remake out of the park!
Amazing and high quality from all involved, with a good portion of humor and self- criticism. Please stop the insipid and puerile Mike- bashing. It is really tiresome and says much more about the commentator.
