Malpe fishing harbor
Malpe fishing harbor is 6 km from Udupi town
2 km from Malpe Beach.
Malpe fishing harbor is the largest fishing harbor in the Udupi district and
one of the biggest and the best all-weather fishing ports in Karnataka.
It houses boats from neighboring fisheries' jetties. Boats from other districts also berth at Malpe when the weather is inclement.
There are about 2,100 mechanized boats at the Malpe fisheries harbor, including 1,100 deep-sea trawlers, 150 purse seine boats, and 800 other mechanized boats.
Next to the port is the malpe fishing market.
It is famous for the availability of a huge variety of fishes like local fish as well as squid, cuttlefish, shellfish, and mackerels, sardines, prawns, crabs, lobsters, sharks, stingrays, and many more.
Padukere Malpe Bridge
Malpe Padukere Bridge was inaugurated on 11 March 2017
It reduces the distance from Padukere to Udupi to 7 Kms compared to the alternative route of 18 kms.
Residents of Padukere village have been using traditional boats to cross the Udyavara rivulet to reach Malpe before the construction of this bridge.
This 800 m long bridge provides a panoramic view of the Udyavara rivulet and Third Stage of Malpe Fisheries Harbour.

Padukere beach is 2.5 km from Malpe harbor.
Not having enough patience, we sneaked to the shore by a narrow passage.

Marina at Malpe Padukere beach has been proposed by the Karnataka state government.
According to officials, constructing a marina could help in the docking of small cruise vessels at Malpe.
Publications report that the proposed cost of this project is Rs. 800 crores.
However, locals and fishermen communities are strongly opposing the project as the increased activity in the area will disrupt the ecology.
It is also feared that culture and social activities will be altered or be destroyed on account of a marina.
Mattu Beach
It is a 30 Kms long beach 15 kms to left is Kaup beach and 15 kms to the right is Padukere beach running all along the beaches of Arabian Sea.
30 km stretch from Padukere to Kapu traverses adjacent to Padukere Beach, Mattu Beach, and Kapu Beach all along.
With coconut trees and Udyavara river flowing calmly on one side and the sea on the other, a drive along this stretch of beaches is an unforgettable experience.
