You can very well start a bead crochet rope without a starter rope. But many like me find it very hard to start a rope perfectly, neatly and flat. Hence a starter rope is an indispensable item for me and I’m sure it is for many others struggling to begin a rope. Thank you for your question. I hope I was able to answer it well.

I'm new to bead crochet and finally was going to start crocheting my seed beads and I crocheted about 5 rounds of 8sc each and so when I started crocheting the beads the first row is going inside the little piece i crocheted. Do you think the thread or my needle is to big?
I’m doing well. Thank you for asking. And how about you? From your question I understand that you’ve made a small tube of 5 rows with 8 beads per row. And I don’t quite understand the next part of your question. But I can say that if your new row of beads are caving in, then it means that your thread size is too small for the bead hole. My reply is about why the beads don’t sit tight and on top of each other. It’s the thread size. If you could send me a picture of the work in progress I’ll be able to help better.

Many who are experienced crocheters or beaders struggle to get a rope started. It takes people months of practice to start and continue bead crochet ropes.
