I’ve always heard the story of Christmas spider was that as Mary & Joseph were traveling to Bethlehem they stopped to rest in a cave. A spider covered the opening to keep the soldiers who were looking for the newborn savior safe. As the soldiers came by the cave they passed it by thinking they could not be in there since a spider web covered the opening. The next morning Mary & Joseph continued on to Bethlehem where Christ was born. I have 2 spiders made of pearls in my tree, one for each of my sons.

I looked it up. The story of the Christmas Spider hails from Ukraine. Remember to pray for them and I’ll try to make a spider in honor of Ukraine. I’ll do my very best. She makes it looks like a breeze.

I I'm trying to make spider but I have Gauge 20 gauge 22 that's all I have I don't know whether it's supposed to be 24 Gauge for leg and I didn't know why as 24 Gauge

Absolutely beautiful spider is an oxymoron says this arachnophobe! ,I have gotten bloody noses just from seeing gigantic tarantulas. Okay, big Wolf Spiders. I want to make this specifically for a friend who used to taunt me about my fears - even going so far as to catch a live spider and bring it to me. Also, I would like to make them because of the beautiful stories. I just don't know that ibcould hold them in my hand.

I bought one of these at a craft fair in Texas back in the 80s. It has a little card with it that told the German Folklore tale that originated in the early 1800s the spider is known to be a symbol of Good luck. ☘️

I am surprised by the number of people that have never heard of the Christmas Spider. I have a few but none as beautiful as the one you made. I like the red, gold & white coloring.
