Going to have my 65th birthday in two weeks so I am trying to decide on an AR-10 chambered in 243 Win. or another AR-15 chambered in 6.5 Grendel with a 24 inch barrel, for increased velocity.
Great video. I'd love to go Grendel, but lack of availability has me stuck on .308. Not a complaint. Just an observation. I can't find Grendel in 5 states I travel in a week
I have no problem getting Hornady Black 6.5 Grendel 123 grn . My 20" Sanders upper is shooting this factory round just over a dime at 100 yards. Buds gun shop has it in stock.
So whats your decision? What ever you decide remember how much lighter the AR-15 platform is compared to the AR-10. I really like 6.5 I have killed some pretty big blacktails out here in Oregon with Grendel. Never had to track them dead right were they were shot.
Check out my new Video today for the answer, LOL. I am a fan of the little Grendel. It has become my go to rifle as a truck gun indeed...Glad you've had success on your hunts.
I’ll take the 243 AR10. Is maybe heavier but you’re not going to get the grendal to shoot anywhere near as flat as the 243. I load my 22” AR10 with 55 grain Nosler ballistic tips a little over 4100 FPS. My load shoots flat out to 400 yards. It’s a coyote laser beam. If I were worried about shooting at longer ranges I wouldn’t pick either caliber.
I think what we can agree on is don't hunt deer with a .223 lol. This is why the Grendel is becoming so popular. Get a good 6.5G complete upper and it's plug and play. I recommend the Sanders armory 20". I love my 7 mag but for California deer it's a bit much.
