I feel that a beard hides your "fatness", especially double chins, just keep it trimmed on the sides, so it is not that round and makes your head/face extra round.. On another note, I had a real big beard for a year, and I got fatter, because suddenly I could not se my chin grow as I usually do.. A real Double edged sword right there that beard!
iLather don't even think about it lol.... pst..., if you do, totally not supporting this, go with a beard balm and not a wax or an oil.... Balms are much better quality products
Nick, I hate to be the one to say it , but this being an MD is interfering with your shaving. Maybe you should look at your priorities🤣 Glad to see you back. All the best👍
Dude, that's a nice beard. With so much white hair in my beard, it ages me about 10 years if I let it grow out too long, so I keep it on the shorter side when I grow it out. I used Bull Dog beard oil and sandalwood-scented beard butter by Every Day Jack...nothing special, but I liked both and loved the sandalwood fragrance. Beard combs are also essential.
I think you should let it grow for a couple more months, and then shave it all with a straight razor in stages, beard, goatee, mustache, hitler mustache, then babyface
I can bearly grow facial hair nevermind a full beard but I still watched this video, your content is always great to watch and you are the reason why I bought a safety razor!
Excellent video Nick. I've been growing my beard out since January 9th and loving it. My wife loves it too. I like washing my face before bed and applying the beard Oil then. It has all night to absorb. Then in the mornings I use my homemade Balm to give all day control. Oh, I use actual hair conditioner in the shower after I wash the face, then rinse out at the end of my shower. Just adds a bit more softness.
hey nick nice beard im a de shaver and i enjoy some times let my beard grow but when the beard start to grow it itch like hell any product or advice for that?
Good tips Nick. As a self confessed shavettaholic (are there support groups out there Dr Nick?), I have to say they are hard to beat for keeping a beard lined up. I only keep my goatee rather than a full beard, so I'm sure you get sufficient precision from your DE. Beard balms are my favourites too. I use normal hair clippers (and scissors of course) to keep the length I want. Interesting comments you made on the beard brush, keeping it flat can be a pain.
Glad to have you back! The beard is coming in nice! I grew mine for a year straight and it didn't look as awesome as yours! I wanted to invite you to my and Monica Gilliam's NC shave meet up. here's the link if you're interested. If not, no biggie: facebook.com/events/414973558879807/ as always, love the video! For my beard, I use either Mad Viking, Grave Before Shaves, or Pinaud Clubman products.
Great beard. Had the same since 1972. Beard products are the HUGELY overpriced. NOW makes a lavender almond massage oil that is priced around $10/16 ounces that is as good as any beard oil. They also make other scented versions. As far as a beard balm, unrefined shea butter is very inexpensive and is as good as any balm. I also use it pre and post shave on the cheek and neck area. It also is a great in trapping moisture in and is non comedogenic.
Good tips for beginners in this video. Right now I am rocking the Bluebeard products, as they are fantastic. Love that scent! Beard looks good on you! One tip I got when I was starting to straighten your beard and remove frizz is to comb your beard the opposite direction first. Basically try to make it look as ridiculous as possible and then comb it down straight.
I use The Mod Cabin Grooming Co. beard balm and oil and they are amazing. I have tried many other brands, but it is really the only one I could find with argan, jojoba, and shea. They try to be a little outdoorsy with their scents, but if you try them Wild Hunt is my favorite and tamest of the scents
Another reason I got into wet shaving was because I do not grow a full beard. Mine is patchy and I don't like growing it out more than a few days. I think yours looks great but I am sure youll start to miss full face shaves haha. Take care Nick!
If you use nothing else for your beard, use a beard shampoo or face wash/scrub for the exfoliation you used to get from shaving, and a beard conditioner (yes, like the one your lady uses in her hair) for softening/conditioning the beard, which is going to help solve that post shower dryness.
If I remember correctly the hair on the right side of your neck grows up while the hair on the left side grows down. Do you notice any difficulty combing/taming the hair down on the right side? I'd think it'd feel funny trying to comb it against the grain of growth.
Great tips! Although I typically shave with a DE razor, when I am growing a beard, I prefer using a straight for cleaning the edges. I feel it is easier to see exactly where the blade is, allowing for more precise edging. Also, especially as the hair along the neckline of your beard grows, the straight helps to keep that under control as well.
Good for you nick I'm not a beard fan but as long as you like it I'm a fan of your clean shaves I wish you very well in your career hope to see some clean shaves soon Cheers
absolutely. Masks are different than a beard or a hair net. . But I didn't know if during this part of his residency that he would be going to surgery.??? They all have different rotations.
The new beard trend makes most men look ridiculous! And when the silly haircut goes with it! 👎🏼 A couple years and the style will be out and you will look back and see how silly you look. Especially you guys with a professional career. Stick with timeless trends.
Hi Nick. I live in Santiago, Chile, and started wet shaving in May last year. I started by googling wet shaving to seek for tutorials. And let me tell you that your videos where the first videos I ran into in my searches. I watched many of your videos (especially those short 16 videos where you teach the basics of wet shaving. I watched them over and over until I internalized the technique. Meanwhile I ordered my first products through Amazon. So I have to thank you for teaching us newbies the first steps in traditional wet shaving. My first razor was a Mûhle R89 and the first cream I could get a hold of was aTaylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood. I've been buying online since then, many times paying attention to the reviews you do on different artisan products. Anyways, thanks for sharing your videos.
Michael Petersen beard oil used in the first few weeks. Your facial hair essentially robs the sebum (natural oils in the skin) from the surface of your skin hence the irritation. Beard oil replaces that moisture and stops the itching.
I have two questions. When you're ready to shave again, will you shave the whole beard with a straight razor? Are you gonna do beard care again when you're doing No Shave November?
"I've been growing out my beard instead of shaving to save time bc I've been really busy lately" - then show us 10 minutes of beard care including shaving he has to do every day for his beard
nameknoB guess what? You want to know the cool thing about growing a beard? You can shave it off. I’ll give you one clue what he does next. It involves that thing you subscribed for in the first place.
