Congratulations on your first child Nick. The wet shaving world isn't the same without you. Regarding the head, Mantic59 contacted Gillette and they confirmed Muhle made the heads. Most likely their R89 heads. The box is cool though

Two years ago at my family’s Christmas gathering, we were searching through some of my grandparents belongings. My dad sat down with a box of stuff he had picked out and began going through it. One of the last things he pulled out was a Gillette Slim from the late 60’s, most likely the last razor my grandfather ever owned (he passed away in ‘77). I immediately claimed it (none of my family uses safety razors) and have used it ever since and would have to agree %100 that Gillette’s designs-especially their adjustable models- are top notch and clearly last forever in the right hands. Since I never got to meet my grandpa, I’ll always cherish this razor, as it provides some sort of connection to him that otherwise I wouldn’t ever have.

In the time that you went from Resident to Fellow, I went from X-Ray tech to CT tech, so I feel you on life getting busy. I hope that you’re not steered into moving again, but if you do... University of Rochester has been a fantastic place to grow in the medical field, and the areas around the city are extremely livable.

Since gillettes "toxic masculinity" advertisement i have not bought anything from them. And i try to avoid products from Procter & Gamble as well. And i will never return. I really hope you was paid by gillette (to return) for this review.

You haven’t aged a day! Looking good nick! Great to see you brother! But I did not buy this razor because it just seemed very gimmicky to me.. it’s a China Jagger head with a Gillette name.. didn’t interest me seeing how I own a few of those types already.. This razor excited me at first but at second glance very disappointed.... maybe good for beginners. Step up your game Gillette! Make some of your older models but with new materials! That’s where you shine! Who wouldn’t buy a new fatboy titanium?!!?.... or a copper slim adjustable?!!?

I have a 1960 Gillette Fatboy adjustable that was my dads and it is my favorite safety razor. Although I try different blades so far I like the Gillette Wilkerson blades and I use setting 3 for my face. When I was still shaving with a cartridge razor shaving was a chore but since I transitioned back to safety razors shaving is now an enjoyable experience.

Speaking about Gillette not bringing back one of their old razors.... I agree. My favorite razor is a 48-50 Aristocrat but would have been happy with a new short comb from the thirties or even a super speed. Would love to see Gillette make those again. But this is P & G, and not the old Gillette company. The old timers that made all those amazing razors are gone. But hey, it’s still a Gillette and I am glad to see them manufacturing a de razor again. Maybe more will come in the future if they see the market is still here

Id like to see some maintenance videos. Should we disassemble our razer every time after shaving and clean it? How often should we scrub off the soap scum build up? Ideal way of storing everything. Should the blade always be taken out when not being used? That sort of stuff.

kobi6y6 me 2 I have a 59 fat 64 Slim and a 69 BB I'd really love them to make another Fatboy or Slim. But all of mine are in about 7.5 to 8 condition wise if they don't come out with one I could always just get Matt to replace mine

So cool that you are back! I just got into DE safety razors in the last two months when I realized I had no idea what cartridges I needed to buy. I went home, rummaged through my bathroom cabinets and discovered I had 11 different razor handles from 5 different companies. Your channel has been a huge help in guiding me to my initial purchases, even in your absence from it. I feel fortunate to have found this community right at the moment that both, you have chosen to return, and that Gillette released this heritage razor.

Sound is fine actually, and image is ok. Although maybe you can improve the camera position a bit so it only shows your mirror image like it used to.

If they made a modernized version of a Tech or NEW LC/SC that was CNC machined it would likely do incredibly well in our little niche that is safety razor shaving. However, it would do horribly overall with most normies being okay with sub-par shaves and post shave irritation from their "cheap" cartridge razor. I imagine this is why they didn't bother making a design and just bought from Muhle. They know the sales figures will not be worth it vs cartridges.

The razor head is made of zinc which easily breaks if dropped by accident. It's an inferiour razor compared to the original design.

Welcome back Nick! It's puzzling indeed for Gillette to call a Heritage razor something that has so evidently a Edwin Jagger or Muhle head. A reproduction of their Tech head would make so much more sense. The DE89 is going for $27 on Amazon. Better value absolutely than the Heritage.

Hey Nick, I just wanted to thank you for your videos, I'm new to wet shaving (2 months in) and the results have been amazing! Usually I don't comment, but today i tried something new, COLD WATER WET SHAVING. I saw it last night while i was down the RU-vid rabbit hole, and started reading about it. So I tried it out and let me tell you ... zero razor burn (since I made the change to safety razors it went down dramatically but still had that burning sensation on my neck and chin) applying your 3 pass technique. I was wondering if you could do a cold water wet shaving, I would love to hear what you think about it. It is good to see you back!

Congratulations for your new baby, I am glad to see you again, your videos were the reason for me to start wet shaving back in April. Finally found my to go set without spending a lot EJDE89 Gillete Nacet blade Stirling soap (thanks so much for the advise) Sallys boar brush Nivea after shave balm (good stuff) all less than $75.00 Got Barrister and mann soap and Mike's natural soap on my B-day two months ago. All set for next year. Still will watch your videos. God bless.
