I would just suggest a t5 tube light. That light doesn’t produce the amount of uvb they need as a desert species. That is probably why he’s not as active. I didn’t have the right light and mine acted like yours. But I got that exact zen habitats enclosure and I got a 12% t5 Arcadia light and mine is way more active. Also would suggest some top soil/play sand so he’s not sliding all over the enclosure. They have substrate shields for their enclosures. Especially because he’s older and it’s hard on his joints being on a harder ground.
@reptiliangarden
@reptiliangarden 4 года назад
Jackie Lavallee He had another uvb with this light in the 40 gallon, but the fixture broke. So I’ll be adding another to this enclosure so that he gets uvb when he’s not basking too. And that’s very helpful! I wasn’t aware of this with their joints. Thank you! 💕💕💕

I hope I wasn’t sounding rude! I had no idea either until I read a study on them and then I saw the difference in mine when I switched him! Mine is a rescue (I’m his 3rd home), so I don’t know how old he is. But with all the things I’ve added to his enclosure he’s acting young now!

Do suggest a long UVB tube light of T5 HO so that when Dude leaves the basking light he doesn't have to give up on the UVB. Just a suggestion 😊 you are the pro. See you on your next video 😁

HID lamps are actually stronger with uvb so I think she's doing a great job choosing this kind of light. They need some shadow too. 😊

Totally agree here! Beardies must have a tube style uvb to thrive. I’m sure you’d see his activity levels rise also. The reason he has such buggy eyes is because of lack of uvb.

That's an amazing size! I would just utilize the space more. Give him more stuff to do, it will probably make him more active too. 😊 There's a lot of hight not being used right now. Maybe it's a cool idea to make a 3d background in the future. Obv a big project so not something to rush. But I think it will make it more appealing to him and you. 😁

@@luvlost03 yes, I can talk Beardy... -__- You want to know how I know is the best for my Beardy? By seeing how he does on it. I kept my Beardy for a year on tile and when I changes to soil mixed with sand he was more active and was always digging. Same when I added more wood. That's how I know it's best for my Beardy, the natural way.

I have a 110gal habitat with five heat lamps (2 ceramic, 2 uvb and one halogen bulb). The temperature is only reaching 85° and my beardie is unhappy and not digesting well. Do you recommend one specific heating source or should I continue to add heating lamps?

That came out great 👍. I’m actually getting ready to upgrade my bearded dragon Sandy and this gave me some inspiration. Sorry to hear not feeling good today. I’d say stick to a banana smoothie with some plant based protein and almond milk. I like using Vega Protein and the more ripe the banana the better for you. Also Drink some golden milk to help with inflammation. Hope you feel better 🤞🤙

I'm curious if he stays lazy. My Edgar has been super lazy all his life that I've had him (I adopted him when he was 4 and now he's 12), so I thought like you he wouldn't use a bigger cage. But he got more active just from me switching to bioactive so now I'm wondering if I don't need to save and buy him a ZenCage.

It's mostly easier. 😊 With the right sand you'll be absolutely fine. In the widl they live mainly on sand/dirt with some rocks and branches. But most people aren't convident enough or just choose to keep it simple. It is simpler to clean like this.
