Jerry Jones ain’t changing. I think those Super Bowls he got in the 1990s forever gives him the validation to feel like he should get the credit and run the show like he wants.
John, this isn't rocket science. Dan Quinn was so successful they ran him out of Atlanta. He looks like an idiot who forgot his skateboard when he's on the sideline. Jerry Jones sells HOPE. Cowboys don't have to win. This is a business. Jerry sells the Cowboys better than anyone else, and it's not even close.
@@GetOuttaTheJohnBoy we'll see. I kinda agree with you but at some point they also have to win. Or at least get to the SB. Can't rest on your laurels forever but as you said, if he's making money, which he is, maybe he doesn't care about that too much.
You have a point. Jerry understands that winning is not the point, but keeping people riveted to whatever relates to the Cowboys is the true engine generating revenues.
One day these goofy teams will realize it's probably not the best idea to hire defensive coaches who want the offense to score 20 points and just don't turn the ball over to develop their constant rookie QBs? Daniels is in a much better spot this year coaching wise than Caleb, Bo is also.
I get the sentiment from Chicago - their 85 team being synonymous with unbeatable defense and wanting to reestablish that identity. But yeah it's pretty damn hard to do in 2024, you gotta have *some* offensive ingenuity just to keep up
Dan Quinn is a defensive coach tho lol. But he’s one of those defensive guys who is fine letting his offense take the reigns of the team. More a leader of men then defensive culture guy
@@jamesbohm3690 and yes I think you're right, they would rather be a defensive team I'm almost certain .. but they've been trying that for 40 years now , it almost worked in 06 and that's about it.
@@15SilverSurfer15 Cowboys would be an infinitely better job than the Bears. Bears are a bottom tier team which is why they can never land a premier coach or gm. Its always 1st timers.
Yeah he has a great defense and is a clutch competitor. But he isn’t some ridiculous unicorn player that people pretend he is. He had ludicrous luck stats according to advanced analytics, having over 2x the number of dropped INTs than any other QB over the two year span where he was putting up his best numbers. Regression to mean and now he’s a top 5 QB with incredible coaching and defense. Probably gonna win a few more rings as long as those two things stay in place
I think a somewhat apt comparison between Mahomes and Allen is Joe Montana to Dan Marino. Not a perfect analogy but Montana had the coaching, had the defense, has the rings, all the while Marino was the better talent and given a pick probably 25+ GMs in the league at the time would have wanted him over Montana. Same with Allen/Mahomes
Better teams, better players, better matchups. Better product. You get heavyweight matchups on a weekly basis instead of once every couple weeks at best. They’re not changing rules and gameplay just team matchups
@@Awkward_Inc3l can you explain to me how is it better to have USC playing Michigan better than USC playing Oregon, or Penn State playing Washington better than Penn State playing Michigan???
@@garfieldGG Michigan v Oregon would in years past(before playoffs) be a rose bowl matchup. Now that’s a matchup in week 3 or 6 or sometime random in the regular season. What’s not to like about big names and programs matching up regularly in regular season versus far less frequent high profile games?
@@garfieldGG and with three major conferences being juiced now it makes a team going undefeated that much more difficult and thereby should be respected even more. Less filler games and lopsided matchups.
@@Awkward_Inc3l you gave me far too much to respond to when all I asked was one question that you didn’t answer lol. But to answer the question of “whats not to like?”, I don’t like any of it. I don’t like big10 football, I think it’s mostly boring. And making a fun west coast team play big10 football, is boring to me. It was a lot more fun as a premiere bowl game or a beginning OOC opponent. And this year I watched USC play Michigan instead of playing Oregon, which makes absolutely no sense for anything but “eyeballs”. I think this + NIL + ridiculous playoff + unlimited transfers is going to ultimately ruin college football by turning it into a mini NFL, which is something that no one asked for.
Not really. HC is on his second 1st round QB and things look identical despite the GM adding way more talent at WR. I don't know how much rope he's going to get
The worst part about the bears coaching staff is that kliff was the first OC interview, who had coached Caleb in college and openly wanted to follow Caleb. Why would they not want the guy who has already been developing Caleb and had previous offensive success in the nfl. Baffled me then and it’s ages even worse now
Kliff Kingsbury at USC wasn't asst. OC or QB coach,or even passing game coordinator! I heard he really didn't do much. Just a friend giving him a "paycheck!"😮😅😊
I thought this meant they were gonna keep Justin and have Waldron do another Geno-type job. But keeping eberfuls and hiring Waldron seem like bad decisions w getting Caleb.
@@seyebrighteyes exactly, I was on the Caleb over Justin side, but if I we had to chose between flus and Caleb or fields with a new coach it would’ve been fields with a new coach. Idk why they got rid of fields who wasn’t bad but not good enough, to not do the exact same thing to eberflus. They just scapegoated Justin when all bears fans knew he wasn’t the biggest issue
Surprised you didnt talk about UnLV Qb Matthew Slukia quitting his team after going 3-0 because he says the school and or coach renigged on a nil deal..
So now we are gonna throw the entire Bears organization under the bus simply because yall dont want to admit Caleb is not a once in a generation QB who looks really bad and should not be starting. Caleb is way too green to be starting. Its Bryce Young all over again, and what I mean by that is, Caleb is gonna get hurt and the back up QB is gonna get put in the game and magically the Bears are gonna look like a real NFL team the same way the Panthers did with Dalton.
I don't agree, besides Caleb being a better talent that Bryce in general, he's shown flashes despite this horrible offense. In washington they seem to know how to get the best out of Daniels. The bears are asking Caleb to do everything, they have an almost non existent run game and he is almost always in obvious passing situations because of it.
@@keesvreeswijk8633I'm not talking about skill for skill, that's meaningless and you are missing my point. If and when Caleb gets hurt and the Bears back up Tyson Bagent is gonna play. And he's going to run the Bears offense 100 times more effective than Caleb. Much like how Dalton ran the offense compared to Bryce Young. Not because Tyspn Bagent is magically that guy. But because he's a seasoned veteran who's been in the NFL a couple years now, has been with the Bears so he's very familiar with the playbook. And he can read defenses while knowing NFL timing. That's all stuff Caleb really struggles with and hasn't had time to learn. But instead of giving him time to learn yall are gonna hype him up and get everyone on the Bears fired.
@@georgealvarez1195 I see it exactly different. The coaches are to blame. They need to get the best out of him. If that means making the offense simpler, so be it. But now they are asking Caleb to do everything and ruining his confidence.
John harps way too much on the physical appearance of coaches. It’s a borderline childish idea that any time spent working on their appearance is time that could have been spent grinding tape. He always shits on bad coaches who cares about their appearance but Matt LaFleur and Sean McVay look fantastic and John never complains that they would be better as a coach if he were in worse shape. It’s a very cherry picked criticism. I have a take that the appearance of a coach means jack shut for how good they are as a coach.
Bro the bears are just ran poorly lets be honest. They would of ruined any qb they drafted. Could of drafted Patrick mahomes and they still wouldnt of won anything. They ruin all thier qb talent
The Bears are traditionally a BAD, dare I say, HORRIBLE franchise when it comes to QB's. In MY lifetime, they've only had ONE QB have ONE season where they threw for over 4k yards. I've seen documentaries about how bad their choices are when it comes to QB's. They never should have started Fields, they never should have started Williams, not because they don't have talent but because the game at the NFL level is faster and ALL the players are TOP level and getting beat up and failing over and over messes with your head.
Regarding the Bears, I agree I'm not impressed with the HC as a offensive mind but he could work out as a HC if he got a good OC under him. It looks like they're running the same offensive scheme as when they had Fields. It's also fair to question Poles as the GM. While Poles has done a lot of good things, did they select the best QB out of this crop in the draft? Highly debatable. The fans are happy to take whoever is the most popular, we know that much. But was Caleb actually the best QB prospect in reality? Highly debatable. Daniels hands down had the best tape and it wasn't close. Picking the wrong QB when franchise QB's are in the draft typically get GM's fired. The jury isn't out yet but Poles and Williams are tied at the hip as are every GM and high draft QB prospect. Its also highly questionable that the Bears were 100% zero'd in on drafting a WR at #9 overall whether it be Nabers or Odunze when O-line was the clear need their team had. They took a project tackle in the 3rd round. I like Odunze a lot. No doubt he's going to be a good player in the league. They didn't make a bad pick, but it is the GM's job to build up the team in the trenches. Poles kind of channeled his inner Matt Millen (as a Lion's fan I experienced this sadly) and went on a WR binge and skill position player candy run. Why was Deandre Swift Poles' priority signing at 8 mil a year as soon as the FA period opened? He's not an every down back. Again, as a Lions fan I'm aware of what Swift is. He's a RB that thrives in space and is well below league average running up the middle and fighting through contact. You want to get Caleb Williams (who they knew they were going to draft #1 overall) some RB help. Why the heck is Poles rushing out to sign Deandre Swift of all guys? It was a stacked RB FA pool. Pick one of the other guys. They could have had Saquan... Poles shouldn't be off the hook. He's plenty liable for the roster flaws the Bears have. Poles is also on the hook for signing S. Waldron as the O.C. Poles signed off on that move. The coaches need to scheme up better play design around Caleb and their IOL struggles and stop giving Swift so many touches as a runner (because he sucks as an every down back) but Poles has a lot to answer for just as the HC does imo.
“Like in basketball, you’re not studying 24/7. You show up to shoot around and you play”……okay brother. maybe keep the takes to football, because that’s the most embarrassingly asinine thing I’ve heard in a bit.
Yo John it feels weird when you just stare right into the camera 😂😂😂😂😂 with that being said though I used to listen to Colin a lot on the radio as a kid when he was on ESPN and I’m a die hard cheesehead from the Midwest. And for whatever reason Colin’s always had negative takes on Rodgers when he moved to Fox so I stopped listening to him. However you guys popped up on my feed a few months ago and now It’s a morning routine for me so thanks John. I appreciate your perspective on ball!
Bears coaching hasn't been solid since the Lovie Smith era. Nagy had 1 good yr b4 being unveiled as a fraud. Eberflus' decision-making has precipitously gotten worse as Poles has improved the roster the last 2 yrs, from clock management to 4th qtr decisions, from bad challenges to bad penalties (U either coach it or condone it). Caleb's team is more talented than Jayden's, but Daniels has better structure around him 💯
Maybe Caleb is not as good as everyone hyped him to be. He has no college championship wins, he doesn’t overcome limitations and he’s not humble. The Bears are lucky to have this opportunity but he wasn’t a guarantee just like Trevor in Jacksonville.
The teams running loser Mike Leach style offenses, pro or NCAA will run out of steam and the Redbull Sugar High will crash. Redskins QB is on borrowed time. If you cannot rush for 3 yards in the 4th quarter then you are playing blackjack taking hits on 17. Throwing the ball to get first downs with the lead is a fool's game.
Claiming that Kalen could be the best coach after this weekend is insane. Kirby took over an 8 win team that never even sniffed the ultimate success. Kalen took over a playoff team. I really like Kalen, he's a great coach, but let's pump the breaks on "the best" talk.
I said it at the time that the Bears not firing Eberflub was a huge mistake. But how could Ryan Poles fire him? If Eberflus was a bad coaching hire then the guy that hired him should be gone too. Why would you trust him to hire another coach? Now the Bears endless stumbling continues, Williams will have to learn a whole new offense in year two under a new head coach and OC and just like Fields wasn't Eberflus's QB, Williams won't be the next head coaches QB. Oh the Bears did this exact same cycle with Trubitsky too.
Cmon, we all thought that chicagos gm and staff had brought in and drafted a solid crew to compete in the nfc north . We’ll still have a lot to watch, but honestly the nfc north is the most competitive division and bears appears years away. Gm did make a bad bet in Keenan Allen. He was injury prone for years with chargers.
The cowboys are too big to fail. It does not matter if they flop every year in the playoffs. The fans will still show up every year, every game. I was part of that madness for years....😮
The problem with the Cowboys is Jerry Jones. Can anyone name a GM who gets 27 years to get their team to a Super Bowl or a conference championship other than Jerry Jones?
Privileged is not the same as talent, people that only worship money don’t get that this channel is great for football but has a frat boy, Wall Street bro perverted view of the economy.
The coach is calling the defense. The defense looks amazing and the only reason they even won a game. How is he over his head lmao? Just saying what people want to hear to the views
I wouldn’t completely absolve Caleb. He’s doing what every analyst said he couldn’t do in the nfl…play off-schedule. He’s hanging onto the ball too long and trying to make miracles happen on so many drop backs. He needs to get the ball out and he has the weapons to do so.
