Thank You for mentioning how hard the S. Lake Tahoe Public Works Dept. has been working 24/7 during one of the heaviest snow seasons of the century to keep local roads open & drains cleared. They could use some newer equipment!
Bears coming out of hibernation are very hungry, no food around, just snow. Be very careful, they are very, very hungry and spring is late this year. No fruit, bushes, etc. 😬
My bear box (i.e. garbage storage box) was overfull because the snow's affected garbage pickup. So for a couple days I was keeping some garbage in bags in our entryway, figuring the bears were still in hibernation. 😳 Feeling very relieved that I drove all that over to the transfer facility on Monday.
Was there in Feb 2021 and friends who were with me then just came back from south lake today, 3-11. Started watching your vids a few weeks ago, and really followed the past week. Such an epic place anytime of the year.
We haven't had any snow at all in eastern NC just an hour east of Raleigh. Not a flake, not one snowy morning melted by ten ! No Snow Days for the kids. So I have to tell you, your video is fulfilling all the longing forfalling white beauty in my heart. Thank you! There is a beautiful pine forest across the street from my house too. But all we have is rain and rain. Trees have popped, everything is in bloom, pears are gone after only three days of glory. Daffys, pinks, cherries, all are here.
I was in Lake Tahoe for work around January 13. Around 6,300 ft up the mountain at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Overnight they got around 7’ of snow. I never seen so much snow in my life. Otherwise it’s very beautiful there.
Caltrans has been busting their butts, working 12 to 15 hour days, with no time off. Some employees from the valley are mandated to work in Tahoe for days or weeks at a time away from their family.
Think the bear is looking for rodents or just lost sandwiches under the snow? (I used to walk a dog that was always finding lost chunks of bread I couldn't even imagine existed)
