Rarely has a city faced such an important conundrum. The Chicago Bears want a new stadium, and the Chicago White Sox want a new stadium, and they're both serious. On the line are lots of jobs and lots and lots of tax revenue. Justin Laurence, a well-sourced City Hall insider from Crain's Chicago Business, joined the stream with the latest on the teams' searches for new homes.

I think it's more likely especially after the renderings that Sox will end up in the South Loop when it's all said and done. Bears will likely stay on the Lakefront, but move across the street, so they can own the stadium.

No they won't. Building there is more expensive and there would need to be a massive infrastructure project, aside from that new stadium, to resolve the one thing that makes attending a Bears games a nightmare for travelers...which is getting to and from the immediate stadium area...that's why it won't likely be built there...not to mention the circus of Chicago City Hall politics. The Bears are playing the long game with Arlington Heights which is land they actually own already.

Imagine having the Bears play at Wrigley Field while the new stadium gets built.

That'll be a dream for people, especially people who remember the Bears playing there before the 70s.

Tear down soldier field and build...what? Basically youre doing the same bullshit you did with the current stadium? And it would still be owned by the park district?

Build the Sox where the Soldier Fields is, move The Bears to the south lot, Make that area the tourist entertainment district. Build underground parking.
@techi9

@@EnolaK there's legislation that prevents any construction along the lakefront, so that nixes that

@@techi9 Plus the Sox are already planning the South Loop, so they don't need that location. The Bears might be able to build in the Soldier Field parking lot which has been talked about, but building too much around there would be a fight in the courts.

Why don't they build a Disney Land out in the lake.

Your right the owner bought a new Rolls Royce just drove it 3K miles and dumped it, I think they should spend their own money.

The state should not give one penny for this. If a banker won't the state should not. Did you forget about people being taxed out of there house, or a solution about people sleeping on the sidewalk!

A Dome stadium for the Bears? Nothing is sacred anymore!

That's not important. You need to get over it. Fan comfort at THOSE prices for a poor team owned by an incompetent family, should be a priority. That's your tradition AND your reality. These stadiums need to have much more year 'round use than strictly football games, in a city as large as Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. That way the facility can have a year 'round application instead of simply sitting there for several months collecting dust until either they can actually book a summer concert or..the start of a new NFL season. A fixed roof provides a 365/24-7 availability regardless of weather. This is the new meta in modern pro-football stadium designs in most popular destinations with a few exceptions. The Bears have already stated that it will be a fixed-roof design, as you know...better get used to it, and I hope you're not one of those brainless mooks who believe in the "advantages" of Bear weather. That's a myth which was even believed by me...until the 49ers brutally debunked it during the 1988 NFC Championship Game 28-3.

Definitely not happened and doesn't need to happen. White Sox need to be in the South Loop and Bears need to stay in the city, and the Arlington project is basically dead at this point anyways.

I heard rumors that the Chicago White Sox wanted to move to Tennessee. They were looking at Memphis or Nashville. The Bears are looking to do what Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, New York Jets, and the San Francisco 49ers play outside the cities they are based in.
@retrowarehouse2554
@retrowarehouse2554 5 месяцев назад
@@frankdenardo8684 That was the old plan, the Sox never really had intention of moving to Tennessee, it was just a bargaining ploy because everybody knows Nashville is getting an expansion team in the league in the future. You're going to hear Nashville in relocation threats for any team needing a new ballpark or a huge renovation lift like the Brewers at their park. As far as the Bears go, they were looking at moving to the suburbs, but they're going to stay in Chicago now. Had Lori Lightfoot still been Mayor they might still be looking in other parts in the suburbs to move to.

It should have never been built there. They should have built it along the lakefront close around where McCormick Place is (is it still called that, I'm old school).

@@G_Boom I'm liking this South Loop location even better than the lakefront, but I wouldn't mind the Lakefront either, but the Bears need to stay there.
