I never leave comments like this, but I feel for this song I should. For the last few years, I've been severely depressed and suicidal after the passing of my Father and several other family members. Life has been hard, and honestly this song hit me in the gut with every lyric. Yet, in these last few months of the new year I've finally started to understand that life is going to get better, and even when you feel your death may benefit others... it won't. I promise you that. Even if I still feel at my lowest at times, I know that others care. You will always have someone who will care about you. I promise you that. It may be a friend, family, or even just someone you just met. Someone cares. As cheesy as it sounds, it will get better.

This song pulls on my heart-strings so hard. Perfectly describing how I most times have to hide behind a fake smile just to make sure everyone else is happy and that my creativity is my own isolating therapy. There are days where I feel like ending my life just so no one will be annoyed by me anymore. And just so many other lines I'd explain but I'm too anti-social and scared to open up to just anyone. Thank you Beartooth and Caleb for creating a song I can truly relate to. You've opened my eyes.

@@dontlikeschool3 years later but this is a potential interpretation. In the album after this one there’s a song called “Fed Up” with the lyrics “I never want peace I thrive in the panic”. I think it could maybe talk about how he is used to feeling depressed so it is what is comfortable to him. Maybe because if he was “happy” he would feel guilty like he didn’t deserve or just wouldn’t even know how to be like that.

This is for anyone who needs to hear this: Recently, a close friend of mine committed suicide and even though we didn't see eachother all the time or keep in touch much, I still considered him to be one of my best friends (we grew up together). Trust me when I say that you passing does not benefit anyone. Everything I do, everywhere I go I am constantly reminded of him and for a while held so much guilt knowing that I had a chance to help him but didn't realize he needed it. Life is incredibly hard but it's so much harder when someone you loved is no longer there with you. What I'm getting at is that the mind can play awful tricks on you, and talking to people about it is one of the hardest things to do but it really does help. Reach out to everyone and anyone, not everybody understands but if you keep looking you will find someone who does. You all have a purpose, don't give up now.

thank you. (crying pretty hard after reading this) the same thing happened in my life on march 7th 2017. I met this awesome dude when i was 8 or 9. we grew up together through our church. every sunday, every boy scout activity, campout... so many campouts.. and this one trip where a bunch of us from church took a 4 day roadtrip and me n him hung out having a blast the whole time. are some my favorite memories.. i stopped going to church about 6 or 7 years ago, im 24 now.. we lost nearly all contact with eachother. then 3 years ago his oldest brother took his own life. they were as close as brothers could be. just best friends. i guess he just couldnt take it... thinking back i asked him if he was doing okay maybe twice. he always said he was. then within the next year or 2 he connected with me on xbox live and we had some fun playing dark souls together, talked a bit. but a couple months later I got an xbox 1 and we lost contact. the last time i saw him he got to meet and hold my 2 1/2 month old son for the first time. then came march 7th. i fell asleep getting my son down for his nap. then i got woken up by my dad and brother coming in my room crying their hearts out... my dad could barely talk. but managed to tell me to go over to him and he made sure he was hugging me before he told me "ryan killed himself" n i shattered down to my core. I was an absolute mess, breaking down every couple hours for the next week, including the funeral and burial service. not long after that, bout a month or 2 my marriage fell the rest of the way apart... fast forward to now, and im a wreck most of the time. depressed as hell.. and sinking more daily. Even had a stay in the hospital for safety last summer. but im holding on for dear life. There's no way in hell i would ever give up on my son. or myself for that matter. The future has so much more amazing things in store for both me and my little dude. The main things i keep in mind is everything always gets better. im not worthless. And there is always hope. i also know in my heart that ryan would laugh and say there's nothing to feel sorry for if he were here today. just as im sure your friend would for you. Please stay strong. It hasnt stopped hurting much this far down the road. but there have been countless amazing things that have happened between then and now that helped me put distance between me and the pain. I know they will for you too. Take care of yourself. hope my story helps you at all.

@@metalmessy135 I haven't listened to it. And it's tough losing someone but definitely harder when you spent so many years with them and then suddenly they're just not there anymore. And then you see something and think "oh they would love this" or "I gotta tell them about this" but you can't. It's definitely very hard some days but I've learned to appreciate pain as much as joy, as it helps us grow and learn valuable lessons. And even though he's gone physically, I know that his consciousness lives on within me and everything around me and sometimes I can really feel that, and that's what keeps me from being completely torn up about him is knowing that he's not in pain and that he is never truly gone. I hope you find the same clarity and wish you deep healing ❤

you talk about how much it bothers you, but did you ever find out what bothered him to the point of ending his life? thats the issue here. sure, it affects people. but not many things have a strong enough effect to make people end their own life

I know how you feel. Hell, I remember when this song came out, I remember going to my very first concert in 2018 (them ofc) and hearing "In Between" and feeling alive for the first time. Everyone stopped headbanging and swayed their arms to the song together and I didn't feel alone anymore. We're gonna make it out eventually, we have strength in numbers.

I relate to this song way more than I should largely thanks to my childhood. Anyone who goes through enough Hell without ending up dead will eventually build up defenses to hide their true self regardless of whether or not they intend to, often burying their true self in the process. Happiness being a feeling so alien to such an individual will often times cause them pain as well and their significant other may view them as seemingly emotionless beings.

As someone said on the Disease Music Video. Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you hear a song, and you instantly know it's going to be your favorite. Every note, every beat, every lyric, and every frame feel like they're resonating in your soul. You hear the lyrics and you're transported. This song and this video felt like a journey. I started off with the biggest grin, and then every word fell like a sledgehammer against my very carefully crafted walls until they crumbled, and honestly I was sobbing for the last half of the song. It was... quite the cathartic self-evaluation. Thank you. I'm so sorry you're feeling or at least felt that way, but I truly and whole-heartedly appreciate the reminder that I'm never alone in this fight.

I never knew how much I relate to this song until recently. I have started feeling like I'm nothing but a burden and a waste of space to my friends. I rely on them for so much, and I can't help but feel like they should resent me for it. Sometimes I wonder how things would be if I was never there. I've never felt so connected to a band before. Like I love quite a few bands, but no one will ever replace beartooth, because every song makes so much sense to me. I never understood why people were diehard for bands but beartooth is mine..im happy Caleb still writes emotional music, because that's his best work. I fell in love with the music when sick and disgusting was released and haven't stopped listening since.

“Another day I’m conscious is another day I bleed.” The first time I heard this song, especially that line, I felt it. Every hair on my arms stood up and I cried because I have never related to a song so much in my life. This whole album is such a masterpiece and I’ll always hold it dear to me. “I feel my passing only benefits my friends” I’ve truly felt that recently. My job moved me to part time, moved back home with my dad. Started drinking heavily, wasn’t looking for a full time job. My friends got together with me, and expressed their concerns. A few have weddings coming up, where I’m a best man, and groomsmen in the others. The last thing I wanted to be was a let down to them. I took the talk like a champ. But afterwards, it just made me spiral further. The drinking slowed, and I’ve been applying for new jobs. But my mental state considered that being the end of my story. They didn’t need the burden of me anymore. I’m doing better now, but I know there’s still a long road, and I want to make that journey. Thanks if you read all of this😅 It’s still something I can’t admit to anyone, besides random people on the internet

Man Caleb always saves such an emotional feeler for the closing song. King of Anything was a good track on a decent album, but I really can't decide if I prefer this or Sick and Disgusting as the better closing track. I think I prefer this lyrically, but S&D makes me cry every time I listen to it, because it's just such guttural pain. Anyways, perfect closer to a stellar album.

Disease and this song made the album for me. I think at the end of the day the harder/heavier songs on this album are something to have a good time to. Disease was Caleb's favorite song on this album, but this one is mine because I feel a bigger and closer connection to it.

crying at nights, crying and weeping for doing anything, and doing nothing at all. I'm trying to create something, but all it takes is to ask myself why. I can't find an answer and cry again, after a moment I feel like nothing happened at all,like all the suffering just wasn't there, and I continue my day, trying and trying, till asking myself again about the result or the reason, and it starts all over again. Also If I manage to abuse my mind far enough, i can completely shut it out, in other words I reach a point where thoughts just do not come out again, and its just quiet, i fall asleep and start a next day and wait till repeating the same routine. I wonder if it gets better...

As someone who spits out a lot of nonsense from my head, this song really spoke to me. I'm fairly happy with how smart I am, but a lot of people around me think I'm an idiot, and no one takes me seriously. It's not easy to wake up and go to school each day, but I go in hope that I'll be seen for who I can be one day. Thanks Beartooth, this means so much to me
